wen i spot a support guy going prone i keep movig to cover ,press the grenades key and send it on its way(dont go for the mouse weel its distracting).the smart ones stop shooting ,stand up and get away from the nade. thats wen they are vunerable and if i get to see him standing i shoot them. the stupid ones just keep sprayng hoping i peep from cover, and i get a nade kill.its easy until the grenades are out.also one thing i got from cs is that if u spot an enemy and he spot you doenst mean u have to engage them on the spot,if my surroundings are not in my advantage i just try flanking or go cat and mouse whith him.keep in mind in this game you can score in many ways, kills are just one of them. i alway put the objective in first.if im a medic,engineer, or suport, my main objecives are to heal,revive and ressuply the team...

Most of the LMGs are alright. They're about as accurate as assault rifles from prone/crouching position (that is, M16 accurate while prone, and AK accurate while crouching), but bad accuracy from standing. The PKM/MG36 seem to defy this rule though, being sniper rifle accurate from the prone position.

I am not a new support class player. Don't get me wrong, a lot of my time pre 1.2 was spent as a medic since I loved to revive, but I was support for a good deal of time and I know exactly what they were like pre 1.2. As I said, I am glad they're more useful. But they're just over powered now. I don't want it to be completely reverted back to pre 1.2, but I do want it to be less effective than it is now. A happy medium is required here.

i used to play medic 90% of the time before and was skillful as that class, now i play support more. You would be stupid to not use a much better gun/class and to instead use a crap one.

omg a lot ******** was said in this thread, PKM accurate from standing position? since when? you can't kill anything while standing, I can't even count the number of situations when I got killed by a proning guy while I was shooting a 10-20 bullet burst right in his goddamn chest from above, seriously PKM is not accurate even at a short range while standing! -_-' the second problem is that now with the so uber and |337 PKM you can outsnipe the snipers... mhm so now you can join the g36c and l85a1 lads which do this for a living, give me a break, a good sniper kills his victim with one shot, the support whore won't do s*** if you know how to shoot BTW look at the distances, the fog starts at ~300m, 300m? every decent sniper should headshot almost every time at this range (they don't in bf2 but thats another story...) and yet you find it strange that a lmg (which are not innacurate because they are lmg's its just the damn recoil and deviation added per shot) which shoots several 3-shot burts will hit? ok for the reality of the game its a tad too accurate, but at least all of you g36c-snipers will have to look out for the support guys once of a while sheesh -_- as it was said... ADAPT

I'm another one who's been using support since way back when. I never gave up on my 'ol PKM despite feeling like I was at a huge dissadvange most of the time. I'm a fairly rounded player and spend time with each class depending on what the team needs or what I feel like doing at the time.

The first couple round I played post 1.2 I felt that the PKM was overpowered too. Now, after playing with lots of the other guns I don't feel that way anymore. Support now has a meaningful combat presence and is totally capabile of flaying people caught in the open from a good position. However, as soon as you open up with one of those beasts, you announce yourself as a target.

Most importantly, given the context of the other weapons that were also improved, I think it's rather well balanced. This is said after being on both ends of the equashion.

The largest issue right now is that more people are playing support than they did before. Since a lot of people had unlocked the PKM and almost imediatly have up on it, they are hauling that sucker out in droves now that it's come into it's own. This means you are more likely to be brought down by it simply due to the numbers of people using it.

As people adapt, you'll see less of that happening.

In the meantime, I'll just say the same thing I did on the first page:
Adapt.
Things changed and no amount of complaining will bring back the way things were. Maybe another tweak will happen, maybe not.

If things change again, you'll be in the same situation... you'll have to adapt.

Blame DICE....maybe when everyones using it they will balance the support class.

had a great killing spree with it today...was on Sharqi Peninsula and my mate on teamspeak who was sniping from the top of the crane said he was low on ammo....so i said i would spawn on him when i died and give him ammo. so i did...i was just about to jump off the crane and cap some flags when i saw a guy below.....had a shot at him and killed him easy....so i thought screw it i'll stay up here and see how many i can kill......i was moawing down loads from all around the map....my mate as sniper didn't get any more kills while i was up there heh....it was so stupid.

My understanding is that DICE Canada did 1.2? If so they made BFV and anybody that played BFV would surely remember the M60 of the original version 1.0

That was known as the noob gun. It had 100 rounds however compare it to the PKM and its no match. PKM same rounds, more damage, more accurate and unlimited ammo.

Any new player coming into a game like this usually goes for the biggest gun with the most ammo, that's a no brainer. They want the most fire power, be able to hold their left mouse button down and spray and pray. Well thanks to DICE the pray part is no longer, now its 3-4 shots and anyone is dead.

Why such a massive increase in accuracy was applied to the support weapons only DICE will know but its certainly in the theme of 1.2 "the noob friendly patch"

I think the support is where it should be. Its meant to be a surpressive weapon. Where it was before was a joke. I couldn't take down a guy 50 meter in front of me from prone. While the mg isn't meant to be an assault weapon, it meant to hold the enemy or just kill the people standing out in the open like ducks.

All I can say is use cover, you're not rambo. Scout a bit, and how about work with people. You won't win every time, but you have a better chance. I've held off an entire squad of six with as a sniper and a narrow alley. Does that mean sniper is over powered? I think it means i found an optimal situation for an ambush that the enemy couldn't get around.

The mg might not be where most people want it to be accuracy wise, but it shouldn't be at the point where it was before. I can't charge a guy with an mg right now and kill them in 15 shots. I can setup and kill 5 guys down range standing around in the middle of the street. Before 1.2, i could prolly setup an mg and watch as a soldier plinked my head from 50m while my rounds went around him.

You know, its actually not people like me (or anyone else that has an actual point) that ruin a game, its people like you. Most of the individuals in this thread had some constructive points to make. You just bitched about people that were making those constructive points. And we're complaining? :laugh: Go home.

You have absolutely no idea how good some of the players might be. So stop assuming. Your credibility just went down the toilet.

Anywho, Leki, I've actually only done that once or twice on Karkand, never tried the spray from the crane on Sharki. I've got to try that. :)

And everyone keeps talking "Adapt". I understand that argument, but those probably are the same people that said "Adapt" to N00b tubers and C4 flingers and all that pre 1.2.

"Adapt" just left the building.

I cant really say that i agree or disagree with yer beef on the PKM tho i do understand where yer comin from, and my take has been to just "adapt" and whore the tanks more cuz yer PKM wont do **** to that...LOL...
My biggest beef to the new improvements to the "support" class is this.
I used most classes and found that the medic suited me best, then i bought the SF expansion, and unlocked my MG36, and have been support class ever since. and one thing i liked about the "support" class was there just werent that many of us around.... NOW?? HOLY CRAP they are like cockroaches, FREAKIN EVERYWHERE
i think there are more PKMs runnin around now than there ever were n00b t00bers
oh well....
and even tho the PKM is uber l337, i still use my MG36 it doesnt have the same punch from wut i can tell but its still my weapon of choice
Its just sad to see the uber n00bers givin the support class a bad rap :evil:
