Why don't you explain why they should be hated, then? All you did is come in and tell wizrdwarts that he's too young to understand why stat padders should be hated... which has absolutely nothing to do with age, anyway. So... what kind of argument is that? What about the other people that agreed with wizrdwarts and said that they're usually fine with stat padders and who are older than you?

I play on a lot of sniper only servers and some classify that sniper stat padding but i enjoy it so i couldn't care less if people shun me for it :)
As for people who specifically set out to increase their ranking/stats then whatever.. They paid for the game so as long as they aren't ruining my fun I don't give a ****. It doesn't make them any better of a player.. Most just do it to get the unlockable weapons.Comment

Except that performance-enchaning drugs will effect who wins the race. Stat padding will not effect who wins a round. Having 1,000,000 points, all the gold medals, all of the ribbons and all of the other medals gives you no advantage whatsoever when talking about gun fights and using vehicles. The only thing a stat padder has an advantage of over anyone else would be the commander position, but I've never had a problem with that before.
If a steroid-pumped runner places first, then he has prevented anyone else from winning gold. If a stat padder gets all the achievements... then so what? It's not like he's stopping us from getting them ourselves. Unlike the olympics, there is an infinite amount of awards to go around in BF2.
If only 1000 expert sniper badges were given out and people were stat padding to get them then I would surely care about stat padding. But since every single person who creates an account has a chance of receiving the expert sniper badge, then why shed tears about stat padders?Comment

Padders just want the glory without any of the guts. Ultimately, their decorations don't mean sh*t and it basically boils down to a game of Pikachu: gotta catch 'em all.Comment

I hate the hypocrisy of many padders when they say "why do you care about my shiny ranks and points, it's just a game" after they have spent hours upon hours of wasting time that could be spent on something more constructive to achieve just that. I'm not pointing any fingers here, but I have seen it done again and again in the past.Comment

Sure, it's cheating. But it isn't cheating other people, just the padders themselves, really. Do you get this pissed about someone who goes out to run a mile, quits at 3/4, and writes that they did a mile in their exercise log? Yup, they cheated. But they only cheated themselves. So why the selective crusade? Why aren't you outside screaming at people to quit cheating their bodies?Comment

Because they're only a download away from being hackers, or cheaters as they should correctly be called (a hacker actually writes software).
How many of them are there to rank up, get unlocks, then hit the public servers. And then they realise they can't play. At that point I would guess a good deal of them buy hax.
They are taking shortcuts to get scores and unlocks, they are just the type that would make similar shortcuts in game (i.e. cheating).
This is an over simplistic view of the issue, and it's disturbing that so many seem to think these are wise words.
You seem to completely miss the fact that the padders stats are on the same database, and that they will play on non padding servers with their ill gotten gains.
Clans recruiting players will look at their stats, and if they have been clever padders, they'll say wow you're in.
Not only that, the medals and awards they are earning allow them ranks and weapons they have not earned, unlike the rest of us.
Many of the medals they're cheating to get are prizes in themselves (even though they're virtual). Such as expert knife, pistol, explosives, sharpshooter, and should be earned. You might say, meh it's all virtual anyway, but I guarantee you if these could be traded like WOW objects online people would pay for them, they do have value.
A padder who pads on a standard public server will in fact take the medal from the player who should have got it. You need to remember a lot of padding occurs on non padding servers.
Your point about only 1,000 of a particular medal type being available is completely void. There are such awards, the biggie obviously being the 4 stars.
Padders who gain a high rank doing it, then join normal servers get undeserved respect and commanding opportunities over their team. And yes, people do respect higher ranks more than lower ranks. I have an 85% chance of being picked up as a gunner with my 3 stars, and a 20% chance with a private rank.
In general padding is bad for the game in so many ways, too many to list. Allowing padding normalises cheating behavior.Comment
