Re: Some more 1.5 news...
Just my pure speculation (and that of a few others on the EA boards, it seems), but maybe they are debating whether or not to give out AF and EF for free. Obviously the corporate bigwigs don't want to because of the whole money aspect (because I'm sure they're making a ton of money off the booster packs these days), but the designers probably feel that since nobody is playing the maps anyway they may as well go to good use and maybe someone will finally get some enjoyment out of them.Originally posted by Kyle
I'd love to play the two packs again but right now the only servers running them are timepad servers. -

I've never even played the booster pack maps, I would enjoy some free booster package.Originally posted by WolfAlmightyJust my pure speculation (and that of a few others on the EA boards, it seems), but maybe they are debating whether or not to give out AF and EF for free. Re: Some more 1.5 news...
They're incredibly fun. Armoured Fury is especially well designed and has some great vehicles and maps. It'd take a long time for me to get sick of those maps, especially Road Rage and Harvest. Problem is, the booster packs were DLC only (before the BF2 complete collection was available) so many people didn't bother even downloading EA download manager, and much of the community had already split into the vehicles vs. IO/Karkand sects, so naturally the IO people didn't bother buying a pack called Armoured Fury. It's such a shame that these maps aren't played more, though.Originally posted by KyleI've never even played the booster pack maps, I would enjoy some free booster package.Comment

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
I think their politics will be about removing the need for DVD to play. They said it's something they wanted to do but had to check with EA (I guess) about whether it's OK with them.
I suspect that is the argument going on right now.Comment

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
I would love to see them release EF and AF with 1.5, as both booster packs are outstanding and tragically underplayed these days. I'm still, to this day, kicking myself for not picking them up sooner so I could have enjoyed full server experience on those maps. I imagine it would be quite an uphill battle to convince EA to approve, but just think of enormous community benefit that would result from it. Honestly, with as little money as they must be making off them now, ROI shouldn't even be an issue anymore, and they should be taking into consideration the leverage it would generate in customer retention for BF3 and other future titles.
The no-DVD feature can't hurt either.
Sounds like we'll find out pretty soon here.Comment

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
I don't remember a "full server experience" with the boosters. I bought them right when they came out, but 1.3 really screwed me pretty badly. So between the fragmented community and constant CTDs I only got to play a couple of rounds on each map. Then the timepadding thing became standard...Comment

Not requiring the DVD to play is already implemented all the way up to at least patch #2. I don't know about #3, but I doubt this is the reason for the hold-up.Comment

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
I would have played the Booster Packs but unfortunately it never worked for me; always decided that I hadn't actually installed it upon trying to load one of the maps. It is quite infuriating to be told to pay for something you have already paid for.
Tried every installation process possible, never worked.
The same nearly happened with the DLC Northern Strike but thankfully someone worked out a method for it This involved uninstalling everything, reinstalling everything, patching, installing, patching, etc... a real headache of a process and probably the MAIN reason most people don't play them very much.Comment

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
Yeah, I had a hard time getting EF and AF activated on my BF2 Complete Collection install. I must have gone to 4 different EA websites trying to use the proper log-in combo, and even after finally figuring that out, it took several load attempts in single player before BF2 accepted the validation. I nearly gave up it was such a pain in the @ss.Originally posted by TalbotI would have played the Booster Packs but unfortunately it never worked for me; always decided that I hadn't actually installed it upon trying to load one of the maps. Re: Some more 1.5 news...
All the more reason to just make them a part of the core game in the patch, I say.

Re: Some more 1.5 news...
I'm all for the booster packs being included with the 1.50 patch. I bought both of them as soon as they were available and was able to enjoy both of them for a little while before the player base dropped and all the servers turned into timepad servers. I still don't understand why people think timepad servers are necessary. Both packs have some pretty good maps and it would be great to be able to play them with others once again.Comment
