Imo a lot of the time they do help the team a lot more due to not being hindered with a poor pilot/gunner but if they are going to tk/redline thats just wasting your teams tickets.

In most situations, it is still possible for a soloer to play the range game - as in setting himself up in a way so the chopper spins away while he guides the missile.

And also those saying seat-switching breaks AA locks... GROW A FCKING CLUE please. That's totally untrue.

Does that mean you were looking at the BF2 coding a long time ago too?
Things may have changed in that latest patches. :)

show me that your statement about aa tracking is correct - you will fail. Take the code - read through it.

I don't want personal experiences. If something is coded that way - you can't change it due to stories against.
We don't have to look at the code. In later patches the AA has been fixed. I made videos during the broken AA patches and then again once it was fixed. I posted those videos months ago when sloi and I were discussing this issue.

              A bag full of irony.

Whether a soloer is a teamplayer or not can be proven factually by taking BF2 games main goal and the means to reaching that goal into account. BF2 main goal is to eliminate the oppositions tickets until they reach zero. Since a chopper pilot, nor a jet pilot, nor even a tanker can do anything else but kill, they are left doing what they can do- eliminate tickets. Since pretty much the whole team is working towards that goal, intentionally or coincidentally, they are performing teamwork. Here it is in black and white.

Considering the possibility of it being a grey area, a soloer only performs teamwork if hes consciously choosing the way to help his teammates in whatever task they are performing, or asking for his teams help to support his task. A conscious choice however, is up to each and everyone and depends on the personality of a player, and not the vehicle hes using. There are just as much people playing on the ground, who are concentrating on their own personal agenda, but purely statistically, considering the population in Kark servers and IO servers, we see more selfish players on land, than in the air. Thats a statistical observation.

So, either we go by the book and lable each and every person whos killing an enemy, a teamplayer. Or we leave it to each and everyone to make their own choices, thus ditching the generalisations and segmentations.

but i guess it could be seen either way depending on what you think of the game, arcade like soloing IMO is good, if you like a little realism then you need to fly with a gunner, just my opinon. wanna flame me send a PM cause im unsubing from this one.

Two-man helicopter teams do not necessarily (or often, as it goes) succeed against a soloer. There are several possibilities, and I'll describe most of them since I'm completely bored...

Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and poor gunner vs. A poor soloer: the former may have an advantage, depending on how the soloer is poor (a difference must be made between his being poor as a result of improper pilotting or gunning). In the latter case, it's likely the two-man team will win. Otherwise, it could either be a toss-up or an inevitable win by the former as a result of proper range-game playing by the skilled pilot.

Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and poor gunner vs. A skilled soloer: while this could go both ways, the former is actually at a disadvantage. Sooner or later, the soloer will find an opening to approach the two-man team's heli and the skilled pilot's dodging ability, if applicable in that particular case, will determine whether or not they get a chance to retaliate.

Two-man team composed of a poor pilot and skilled gunner vs. A poor soloer: I suspect the two-man team would have a much higher chance of success by virtue of the gunner having an easy target. Of course, this assumes the poor pilot actually acknowledges the soloer and gives his gunner a chance to fire.

Two-man team composed of a poor pilot and skilled gunner vs. A skilled soloer: the soloer will win almost every single time. No contest...

Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and skilled gunner vs. A skilled soloer: a toss-up. It depends on who indentifies the enemy first. Otherwise, range-games will determine the victor, as a skilled soloer won't be easily baited into a precarious position. I should know, I see examples of this in the Raging Angels (R|A) server daily.

So there you have it... as you can see, it's not as simple as your stupid generalization suggests.
Hm, but did you take into account that those two man teams had a microphone?
Pilot bad communication, gunner good comm. vs skilled/poor soloer.
Gunner bad comm. pilot good comm. vs skilled/poor soloer.
Gunner/pilot good comm. vs skilled/poor soloer.
Gunner/pilot bad comm. vs skilled/poor soloer.

Wait a minute, aren't most BF2 players not teamplayers, whether in the air or on the ground? Most of them just care about their score and nothing else...

                            Yes, of course.

Just because one flies alone, does not mean they aren't in direct contact with the rest of the team throughout the game.

I solo on almost all of my flights in BF2 but still work with my team to get our objectives completed.

It's actually quite possible for a soloer to take a "retreating shot": he just has to work slightly harder to arc the shot back down in order to line his shot back into position.

The other pilot can indeed get in range and retreat once his gunner shoots, but don't forget the soloer can play mind games and even daringly dodge while making his way forward to catch the pilot off-guard: this kind of move happens all the time in Raging Angels (R|A).

You didn't see my novel of a post? I went in great detail to explain a lot and nobody actually replied or acknowledged it. If anything, I'm the one who should be depressed and stop posting in these threads... it always either falls on deaf ears or I'm preaching to the converted.
