    Is a soloer a teamplayer?

Me and Chris_Redfield are having a little (only like 10 pages long) discussion here and i would like to clear up a thing. Is a typical soloer a teamplayer?

For those who dont know, a soloer is a person who is flying a chopter without a gunner and is often Tking or redlining ppl in order to do so.

Chris is claiming that a soloer is killing tanks and chopters coz hes such a teamplayer and is trying to help his team, but i disargee and say that a soloer kills ppl coz its fun or to improve his kill-death ratio.

Yeah? One, thats got a helpful little side-effect of increasing that teams chances to win. And two, its not like a team of two isnt playing to have fun or to increase their KDR either. There really isnt any difference whatsoever between a one man crew and a two man crew, other than the fact that a one man crew is usually more effective due the slim chances of two competent helo people getting paired up.

As long as the solo'er doesn't TK or redline then they have the potential to be a teamplayer.

A solo'er who is legitimately alone and who is killing vehicles is a teamplayer.

Likewise, a clueless pilot with the best gunner in the game is not being a teamplayer if he is not making it possible for the gunner to kill vehicles and support the rest of the team.

The solo'ing itself is not indicative of teamwork or "anti-teamwork".

And btw it wasn't 10 pages, it was more like 18, and not each page but each post was like 15 computer screens long, but anyway I don't need to read his garbage to give you my answer:No.

No, only if there is no gunner avaliable, and ask yourself this, why is there 2 seats? 2 jobs to be done in the attack choppers, not one seat.
thats whats wrong with vanilla, no teamwork whats so every ,only exception a few clans work together on their servers.

only valid solo'r is a sniper IMO

A soloer does both jobs by seat-switching.

I think VT Nerd is pretty much dead on.

Btw nice screen shots Churrasco. Admit that you didn't get those scores playing solo.

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?

Just because I don't think a soloer is a team-player does not mean I don't see the logic of soloing. I'm not even that good in a chopper (even though I killed Sloi once while he was trying to record with fraps on Kubra, lag-fest :)), but I get really frustrated when a guy tries to fly and: either runs into trees; doesn't use flares and gets shot down; shoots the chaingun at anything and everything, even the water; refuses to acknowledge my spots or even typed messages about priority targets; or pilots as if I'm not in the gunner seat, shooting FFARs at everything and never setting up the 2nd most powerful weapon in the game.
I don't mind if someone misses an enemy chopper or three, the jacked hitboxes make it hard not to. It's another thing if I stop and hover for three seconds while a chockblock chainguns a stationary tank instead of nailing it to the ground with a TVGM. I've never redlined anyone, but I will try to solo instead of taxiing an idiot around the map. I can't score kills for crap in the pilot seat anyhow with the FFARs, I can't lead them quite right yet. No one benefits from an idiot riding around checking out the view from the gunner seat of a chopper; not the team, the pilot, nor the wasted load sitting there looking at the pretty dust clouds the chaingun makes.
So yeah, I think soloing is a viable option when it doesn't involve redlining or teamkilling.
I just don't think of it as a team-oriented activity. Then again, including stats made this game every man for himself, anyhow. Even heals and revives are only done because they net a player e-medals. Hell, most medics don't even heal, it only gets one point instead of two for the revive...

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?

Then again, people are flying solo not because they care about the team play, but just to improve their personal score and to exploit the AA lock avoidance. If the teamwork was the real reason for them soloing I would be the first one to vote "yes". Also, I hate when they act like TV-ing while solo-ing is like learning rocket science.

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?

Switching seats doesn't break the lock anymore. I've tested it for every patch. I even posted videos back in the day for that argument. When it was an obvious exploit, I was first in line to cry foul. Now that it isn't...

if u watch Sloi's first video of him soloing..hes covering his team pretty well. listen to wat he says and that just shows u a soloer can be a good teamplayer

If a soloer is taking out choppers and armour that a previous crew couldn't do then yes a soloer is a teamplayer. Regardless of stats. If a soloer is redlining, tk'ing or whatever to get the chopper for themselves then he is being a d**k and deserves to be kicked.

I see the community that posts on here as being fairly well split on this issue. We have had a few intelligent debates and a LOT of not-so-intelligent debates on this subject. I think maybe it needs to be dropped.
If you think you have something new to say about soloing, go ahead and read all of the other threads. If you can't find your opinion, you aren't looking hard enough or aren't smart enough to search properly. In either case, don't make any new threads on soloing.
