Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
Whether or not a soloer is killing for himself or others is irrelevant, as the inevitable result is a reduction in tickets and personnel from the opposing team.Me and Chris_Redfield are having a little (only like 10 pages long) discussion here and i would like to clear up a thing. Is a typical soloer a teamplayer?
For those who dont know, a soloer is a person who is flying a chopter without a gunner and is often Tking or redlining ppl in order to do so.
Chris is claiming that a soloer is killing tanks and chopters coz hes such a teamplayer and is trying to help his team, but i disargee and say that a soloer kills ppl coz its fun or to improve his kill-death ratio.
The definition of teamwork goes as follows: "joint action by a group to complete a given task."
The task to be completed is a total reduction of the opposing team's tickets: a competent soloer, invariably working simultaneously individually and jointly with his group, is an effective force to assist in completing that task, and nobody with fully functional cognitive faculties would argue the previously mentioned.
Face it, soloers are there to help, whether or not it is in the spirit of "teamwork". The help could be completely incidental to his gameplay, and yet would still be forthcoming... and more often than not, in spades.
This is erroneous.
Two-man helicopter teams do not necessarily (or often, as it goes) succeed against a soloer. There are several possibilities, and I'll describe most of them since I'm completely bored...
Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and poor gunner vs. A poor soloer: the former may have an advantage, depending on how the soloer is poor (a difference must be made between his being poor as a result of improper pilotting or gunning). In the latter case, it's likely the two-man team will win. Otherwise, it could either be a toss-up or an inevitable win by the former as a result of proper range-game playing by the skilled pilot.
Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and poor gunner vs. A skilled soloer: while this could go both ways, the former is actually at a disadvantage. Sooner or later, the soloer will find an opening to approach the two-man team's heli and the skilled pilot's dodging ability, if applicable in that particular case, will determine whether or not they get a chance to retaliate.
Two-man team composed of a poor pilot and skilled gunner vs. A poor soloer: I suspect the two-man team would have a much higher chance of success by virtue of the gunner having an easy target. Of course, this assumes the poor pilot actually acknowledges the soloer and gives his gunner a chance to fire.
Two-man team composed of a poor pilot and skilled gunner vs. A skilled soloer: the soloer will win almost every single time. No contest...
Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and skilled gunner vs. A poor soloer: the two-man team will win almost every single time. No contest...
Two-man team composed of a skilled pilot and skilled gunner vs. A skilled soloer: a toss-up. It depends on who indentifies the enemy first. Otherwise, range-games will determine the victor, as a skilled soloer won't be easily baited into a precarious position. I should know, I see examples of this in the Raging Angels (R|A) server daily.
So there you have it... as you can see, it's not as simple as your stupid generalization suggests.
Generally, that's untrue. First off, soloing no longer eliminates AA lock: I get nailed by mobiles when I unsuspectingly walk into their territory without an escape plan or any flares to buy time. Then again, people are flying solo not because they care about the team play, but just to improve their personal score and to exploit the AA lock avoidance. If the teamwork was the real reason for them soloing I would be the first one to vote "yes". Also, I hate when they act like TV-ing while solo-ing is like learning rocket science.
The real reason for the increased popularity of soloing is... *drum rolls* incompetence. That's right, ladies and gentlemen: eventually, skilled players tend to rely purely on themselves because dying every few seconds due to another player's inability to perform adequately is, to put it bluntly, f*cking annoying.
When others won't make the effort to improve or can't do it in a respectable time as games are on the line, soloers take the necessary actions to ensure their team's victory and secure their own enjoyment in the process. This isn't complex logic or rocket science...
Indeed, the second seat is there for a second player to use... and when two skilled players are controlling their respective portion of the chopper simultaneously, wonderful things can happen. Unfortunately, that rarely occurs, forcing skilled players to sometimes forgo another person in favor of self-reliance, which ends up being more consistent than any random player that may enter the heli.Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
A soloer is not a teamplayer - he is a glitcher.
His good or incredible Kill/Deathratios have nothing to do with skill - they just avoid tracked rockets by seatswitching to the gunner seat. Thats why those "Uberpilots" get shot down if they have a passenger.
Everythingelse is just justification/compurgation.Comment

My goodness, how do you post with that immense empty space inside of your skull? I'm genuinely asking, too...A soloer is not a teamplayer - he is a glitcher.

Your post is such a work of misunderstanding, simplification to the point of nonsensicality and fallaciousness that I wonder if posting a cogent reply would even be worth my while.
If I decide to edit my post and do it, it won't be for your benefit (it would be lost on someone of your intellectual dwarfism), but rather for everyone else's.
PS. I decided to do some investigative work on your personal statistics:
Helicopter 3247 414 4960 0.74 178.53
In 178:30 hours, you've managed to die more often than you've fragged. Additionally, you're almost exclusively a ground pounder, as evidenced by your favorite four maps and times played: not that it's a complete necessity, but why (pray tell) do you think your opinion on this matter is worthy of our attention? It's obviously not an educated (or even logical) one...
Jesus F*cking Christ, dude. :laugh:Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
Because you just tell stories but my empty skull knows the code of aa tracking.
And i can say for sure that a Rocket tracked on Player A on seat 1 (pilot) does not change its aim on Player A on seat 2 - if it is allready fired.
No need to discuss on this adult-level.
**** on stats - care nothing about - and usually i don't fly - the time in chopper is from blackhawk - transporting teammates - so yes great K/D there you are right.
And if you own a server and have a certain maprotation because all players want this maprotation - yes you find such a statistic - most times i am just online to admin the server. The playing days are gone long ago...Comment

You'd have more luck doing a barrel roll to evade the missile than switching seats. It doesn't loose the missile lock...Originally posted by arn354Because you just tell stories but my empty skull knows the code of aa tracking.

It is not an exploit and as long as he is helping his team a soloer is a teamplayer.Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
facts - no stories, no blabla
show me that your statement about aa tracking is correct - you will fail. Take the code - read through it.
I don't want personal experiences. If something is coded that way - you can't change it due to stories against.Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
If you possess the necessary skill, I suggest you do basic research on this forum and, should you wish to be more adventurous, Google and Youtube: evidence abounds that fully contradicts your contention in regards to AA and tracking.
That's the last post I'm going to address to you personally, fella: I've already been more than kind enough to give you any attention... which you didn't deserve in the least.Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
and again no constructive answer, just blabla.
Where are the codelines in bf2 you refer to? I don't refer to posts, experiences...
I don't know why you think i need or deserve your personal attention.
Just ignore it - i didn't spoke to you in personal - you just feel attacked in your way of playing the game and i understand that - i am very sorry.
If you feel you need to answer again - do it or let it - the world keeps turning.
I have no hope you success in a constructive post where you are able to confirm your statements.
So yes you convinced me know - thanks for opening up my mind - thank you Master Sloi for your time to shed some light into that issue.Comment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
I disagree with this one. A skilled pilot can get into range with TV and the move out once shot. A soloer does not have this advantage.

Surly you know this? or am i wrong?
EDIT: realised i took wrong quoteComment

Re: Is a soloer a teamplayer?
Much like in the other thread, everyone pretty much needs to agree to disagree. Sloi, and others, will not accede the point as much as those who say solo flying is not teamwork.
The only other point is, Sloi if disagree then fair enough, iterate your point without jumping into insults, but just because the guy doesn't agree with your take on teamwork doesn't mean he is without a brain as you insinuate.
Learn some manners.Comment
