Re: Chopper soloing: a problem or an art?

In their infinite wisdom, they decided not to code it in such a way that you could determine pilot kills from gunner kills. I have a pretty good idea what kind of percentage I and a few buddies have, but that's about it.

You're not included in the nub category, Sling.

          dam thats great Chur!!!

I wish mine was that high, but Im still recovering from the first 20-30 hours of helo time which was ALL in transport LOL
I remember at one point I think I had less than a 100 kills and almost 2500 deaths and I thought "enough of this sh!t" and thats when I took to empty servers and learned "the way"

I had this problem too... My KDR slowly evolved over my playtime...

Re: Chopper soloing: a problem or an art?

True, but playing with a dedicated pilot (soup) at all times sure helps. I'm always stuck gunning for people who end up getting us killed within three or four frags: unless I solo, it's practically impossible for me to make any progress. Not saying that to diminish your accomplishment, but it's a lot easier when you've got someone competent and willing at your side when needed.

              :)

Re: Chopper soloing: a problem or an art?

kdr means nothing, I've spent almost 600 hours flying the chopper and if I cared about my KDR it would be at least 10

I also like to solo, I hate flying for some people, I dunno why, it feels weird

there are some people I love flying for tho, few of em aren't that good but it doesn't matter, when wer flyin together its like wer one person and we last for a long time in that chopper, even with good competition

Lately I also hate flying for some people, myself included. I'm beginning to like soloing, on foot that is.

In that case you connected then completely wrong. Im not saying that a soloer isnt a teamworker coz hes far away from me, in fact i said that you dont have to be close to eachother in order to comunicate and cooperate. A soloer isnt a teamworker coz hes not cooperating or communicating with the rest of the team.

There doesnt have to be a group of people in the air to do teamwork. The soloer is working with the infantry below him, or commander hidden in the bushes. The soloer could very well be in a squad, hes taking up one spot out of 6 and is giving his mates all the support they need. You have a lack of vision, teamwork is not linear, it can be multidimensional. Every choice a soloer does to help a grunt to cap that flag, points towards cooperation towards a common goal. That is teamwork.

Look, how many soloers out there kill stuff just to help their team and not to get better stats or just have fun by killing ppl? Just killing ppl doesnt make you a teamworker.

Please tell me how do you define teamwork that way? I fly with a gunner who doesnt use me lining him up. I fly with a pilot who doesnt line me up. Please show me where the teamwork is?

There isnt much teamwork between ppl who doesnt communicate with eachother. And if your not comunicating with your pilot/gunner or hes not comunicating with you, there is no teamwork involved. Im not telling you to fly with crappy gunners, im not telling you to fly with crappy pilots. Im simply telling you that a soloer is not a teamworker and that being good at soloing doesnt give you the right to redline ppl.

Inefficiency is not teamwork. People group up as a team to increase the chances of survival or increase their efficiency. If teamwork cannot provide that, its a hindering process.

Yet again you talk about teamwork as if its a bad thing and will only get you killed. You told me yourself that 2 guys working together is will achieve more than 5 loners. Thats why you should team up with someone.

LOL! Are you mentally challenged? How does a chopper screws SUB PAR perfomance benefit the team (more than a soloers on par perfomance?)? Im dieing to see the logic here.

Teamwork does benefit ppl involved. Chris, its a fact that two guys working together and comunicating in a chopter will beat a soloer of eaqualent skill.

My point is simple. Since a chopper cannot do anything than killing, then it doesnt matter how its manned, what matters is how its being used.

Two ppl in a chopter are more effective, so yes it does matter how its manned.

If its being used in an inefficient way, its not benefiting the team. If its used in an efficient way, it benefits the team. If it benefits the team, doing tasks appointed to it, its doing teamwork. Regardless of how many people are in it.

Wrong. Read your definition of teamwork again.

If you help people to reach a common goal, youre a teamworker. Thanks for finally agreeing with me, even though Ive only been saying that for the last 3 pages. Moron.

Again, killing ppl doesnt make you a teamworker.

A squad that is cooperating and communcating together will always be more efficient? I thought I said a squad that is "cooperating together" only. Youre the one throwing "communcations" in. I said that if skill and situation allows for it, communcation should be held to the upmost minimum.

Well in case you didnt know it, you actually have to comunicate in order to cooperate.

A squad moves in the tactically best formation which enables it to be efficient all the way through. Newbies preaching teamwork just run in packs.

                    Again... Whats your point?

How exactly is ingame attitude and perfomance related to each other?

                    He cant.

Well if you have a positive K/D ratio you are helping your team coz you take away more tickets than you spend dont you think?

Please explain to me in throughal fashion, how doesnt it make him a teamplayer in BF2 terms?

Gaaaah. Coz hes just killing ppl coz its fun or for his K/D ratio, helping the team in just a bonus.

So if a soloer has more fun soloing, and you accept its all about fun, you can shut up now?

Yes. But dont come here and tell em that a soloer is a teamplayer.

But people are willing to work to care for 10 seconds.

Dont you think that ppl play BF2 coz its fun? And not to win as many rounds as possible?

In real life, people form a team to increase their efficiency and decrease their inefficiency. In one form or the other, this transfers into a game.

                    Yep...

                    The goal is to win.

The goal is to have fun. For some its fun to win, for some its just fun to play.

You just dont get the simple logic. Whats Battlefield 2 main goal in a round?

                    To have fun

How do you know? Do you pull your assumption out of your *** or do you know for a fact that the pilot doesnt want to help you? Im a pilot, I respond to each "I need backup" call in reasonable range. I play for the team. Im sure if Sloi sees a spotted tank, he would take it out as soon as he can.

So you kill ppl to help the team and not coz its fun or to increase your K/D ratio?

I have a ~2:1 KDR on the ground, that means I can take out 2 enemies before I die. With an assault rifle. Your stats show less than 1:1. In all terms, youre a terrible asset to the team. Well get to your stats later.

My KDR on my Waaah_wah account is 1.46. Where the hell did you pull that 1:1 from?

You play Wake, use a Sniper kit mostly and fly jets out of all vehicles the most. A sniper who flies a jet in Wake, we all know that he doesnt care about stats and is a great teamplayer.

When i fly im usually a medic and not a sniper, so your point kinda fails...

Considering the fact that you are struggling to reach a 1:1 KDR in choppers, your "fact" can easily be torn apart. Consider this, in order to FIND, from a PUBLIC SERVER, a pilot/copilot of your own skill level, one has to fly newbies around for a long time before God shows his mercy. Until a pilot finds that good copilot, he plays in the most efficient manner he can, which means- he solo´s. And a proven fact is that unless the equally skilled chopper duo has had extensive practice together, they will fail against a soloer of the same skill. A soloer can make all the choices and decisons himself.

I have like 20-30 hours in a chopter and i still know that its EXTEMELY easy to take dont a soloer while hes guiding the missile. Also, can a soloer be just a sefficient with the chan gun as a two man crew can? Can he perform funneling(sp?) around a flag and at the same time rape ppl with his MG?NOPE!

And the two man crew doesnt have to have "extensive practice together" but simply be using VOIP/VT/TS to cummunicate.

I think that your lack of arguments is becoming less and less amusing.

Comes fro a guy who got insults in almost every reply...

ROFL! You are a moron, ask someone who has served in the army or worked in the office- why people group up.

But then, youre 17, of course the only reason behind ones actions you see as either "person being an asshat" or "person being cool".

I didnt say that ppl group up in real life just coz its "cool" or "fun". But in games thats often the reason.

Why did you move to PR? Why didnt you just switch to a new server or played in SP, if you wanted teamwork? Youre a hypocritical piece of dung, practice what you preach please.

:rofl::rofl:Maybe coz theres almost no teamwork in BF2 and absolutely none in SP?

                    Prove it.

Just read some of my other replies to why a soloer isnt a teamworker. I dont wanna type that all over again

Check your stats. Your history shows that you know jack**** about how a helo operates.

I explained why a two man crew is more effective than a soloer "up there" somewhere. Read that.

The easiest would be hand signals and experience playing together. The vocal communcation is the "fastest". Youre telling me VOIP is teamwork. So if you dont have to use VOIP, you basically choose not to do teamwork? You dont make any sense.

Excuse me, but can you read? I just said that you dont "HAVE to use VOIP in order to communicate, but its a whole lot easier with it", and yet you claim that i say that VOIP is teamwork. Again. You dont HAVE to be using VOIP to do teamwork but its easier when you do. Try to actually read my post before you reply next time. M'kay?

                    Elaborate.

What if i want to use some more "advance" tactic? How do i tell ppl to thow a smoke across the street and then tell two of them to stay behind while the rest of the squad flanks the enemy?

A regular pubber in SWAT4 would tear you apart without saying a single word and make you into an idiot and a victim he would teabag.

And five regular SWAT4 pubbers would tear apart five equalently skilled SWAT4 pubbers if they were using VT/TS

Thats the "idiot" that uses concetration capacity on tearing you apart, rather than talking unecessary BS on the VOIP.

Seriously, if you cant talk while doing something elce, you have some issues.

Quote me on where I said "I cants hoot and talk at the same time".

You said that VOIP is distracting you and that you cant perform good when you use it. And thats more or less the same

For example, your KDR is less than 1:1,which means youre a worthless player.

I suggest that you go and check it again.

My KDR is 2:1, which means that I am less worthless than you. I have more chances of coming out from a firefight than you do. Needless to say, I know more about how to shoot and kill in a game, than you do.

You fly jets and chopters, and thats why your K/D ratio is so high. I would tear you apart on the ground. Wanna play with me on a 32 Kakrand or something?

By not making choices that would benefit the team, dip****.

You can be doing something wrong, that doesnt make you a "not teamplayer".

Yeah, I guess you got a lot of friends by talking to them over VOIP, probably asked your parents for money to visit 45 year old Mr Jackson in another state, because hes your "pal".

Im not from USA. And thank God for that.

And no, i dont have any friends that i havent met IRL. I have played with the same ppl in PR coz its a pretty small comunity, but that doesnt exactly make us "friends".

My point is that if youre going to use the old "u live in a basemunt!" insult, see to it that it doesnt backfire on you.

                    It wont

More "moms basement jokes" coming from a 17 year old kid living with his parents. One of which happens to be a mom. Christopher would mean a name in an English speaking country. Ill give you a cookie if you guess if Im English or not.

im pretty sure that your not English. So im gonna go with German? maybe Dutch? Or French? Probably one of those three. Maybe Spanish...

WTF are you talking about! You play Wake Island, out of your 200 hours youve flown jets for 80!

WTF are YOU on about? I think you have some trouble with understanding numbers. Does this "54:13:51" look like 80 to you?

And you do so while you play as a SNIPER.

How the f*ck do you know that...? Please stop this wild guessing about my play style coz when you wonr, and you are now, it make you look like an idot. This is how long i've been playing as a medic 46:55:25. When i fly i am usually a medic so i can heal myself if i go out of bounds. Sometimes when i fly the F35 i play as a sniper so i can still have fun if i bail.

Im fairly confident that you equip and M95 while doing so, too. Oh and as for being an awesome VOIP using teamworker- your squad time totals to about 50% of your whole play time.

When i join a squad, i usually ask if ppl have VOIP. If they have ill stay, if they dont ill leave. If i see that they are actually doing something usefull and not just doing "their own thing", ill probably leave. Whats the point to be in a squad if theres no teamwork in the squad?

A quick look at my last account reveals that out of my whole playtime, I have been in a squad about 45% of the time! OMG!

                    Waaah_Wah isnt not only account.

"mutually exclusive" would be the term. Only a moron would see a contradiction there.

Yeah... Then im a moron, coz i see a contradiction.

Constant choices that restrict your freedom as a player.

                    Elaborate plz

Explain exactly how am I being selfish?

Lets see... You like to fly chopters all by yourself, you dont like teamwork coz a squadleader might ask you to do something you dont really want. You like to redline ppl just so you can fly a chopter allone. Enough?

Are you telling me that as a fact, that teamwork is more fun?

For me it is more fun. But hey, it might not be fun for statswhores.

Statistics dont lie. Most people in BF2 spend over a HALF of their total play time playing as lonewolves.

Yes but they still spend the rest of their time in squads

In most servers, you struggle to find one fully functional squad. I think that the community has spoken and you pulling "facts" out of your ***, have been set straight... or not.

If teamwork is not fun why do you think ppl play ArmA or PR? Or why do you think ppl join clans?

Get that birdbrain working. If people dont like to work as a team in BF2, that means that its not as fun as lonewolfing. Thats a statistical fact for you.

So why do ppl join clans then?

Did we forget your less than 1:1 KDR?

Do you understand numbers? And what does my KDR ratio have to do with you being a statswhore?

The easiest way of communcating is the Commo rose. "Enemy spotted" and its correct location on the minimap take 0.5 seconds of ones time. Trying to explain where the enemy is on VOIP takes seconds more. VOIP is not easier, its just faster.

Its much easier to explain stuff using VOIP. And faster. Sometimes in PR, you spot ppl who are outside your minimap range, ppl wont notice them so you have to tell them where the guy(s) is/are. Also when you spot a guy on the 2 floor in a building, they will see him sooner if you say "enemy, north-east on 2nd floor" instead of having them fugure out if hes on the first or second floor or the roof.

Who needs typing? Place the order marker and if your squad is competent enough, they will throw smoke grenades without you telling them.

What marker? There is no "smoke" marker in BF2 or PR. And ppl cant really read what im thinking now can they?

If its crossing a street in a potentially hasardous area, and you have a squad of competent people, grenade will be thrown regardless of you saying it.

When you have to cross a street in PR you just run. It takes around 20 seconds for the smoke to get thick enough to cover the street so it will be much faster to just run over.

And attacking a flag or an objective relies on everyones personal SKILL LEVEL.

A squad of ppl who are communicating will beat a squad of loneres anyday and anywhere.

You dont need to tell someone to attack from the East. You set a rally point and upon an attack everyone takes the best tactical approach. If you want to approach using complicated strats, sure, VOIP is great, but in a videogame, everyone has to have some basic skills to come up with their best approach to an objective.

Most ppl i've seen in PR have basic skills and then its much easier to tell them what to do.

If youre skilless, youre dead anyway, VOIP or not.

Not when you have 5 other squadmates watching your back. Sometimes you get a newbie in a squad, and you just have to "take care of him". And after 30 min you wont even notice that hes a newbie. If hes willing to learn ofcource.

Judging by your stats which you so generally showed us all, youre the first to die.

Have you ever seen my PR stats? Or my "Karkand stats"?

Hold on, did you even read that part of did you once again, pull that out of your ass?

Tell me, why do ppl use VOIP during clan matches? Do they use it coz its "distracting" or because it makes comunication easier, because its offering advantages?

Explain, how does it make the game easier?

                    Already did

How does the game get easier with VOIP?

                    Already explained that.

Explain, what makes a player a teamplayer. And dont use my definition. Its obviously written using common sense and logic and would be too hard for yout o grasp. Use your own definition. Im curious.

I agree with your definition so why should i make my own? Im not going to reinvent the wheel for your amusement.

                    UAV + grenade.

And what would happend to you if they would use UAV and grenades?

Quote me on where I specifically said that I "teamkill people because of their age and not their skill". Go ahead.

Jesus! Do you want me to pull that quote up again??? You said that if they showed skill or atleast common sence you woudl then ask them for their age. And if they were below 18 you would redline them. So if they have skill and arent 18, you would redline them. And heres the quote:

When I obviously lacked in skill, I went and practiced. Someone who obviously has no skill and is too young to take my advice seriously, deserves no chances.

No offence but there are probably alot of 14 year olds out there who are smarter than both you and me. So saying that they have to be dumb just coz their younger than you is just plain stupidity.

You have a 5:1 KDR in jets, you play WAKE mostly. Id say you are as competent in your area as you are with the ladies. Stats and facts dont lie.

:laugh:Oh my oh my... You know SO much about me. Are you stalking me?

It was not as fun for me personally. You see, you speak your opinion as a fact, which it isnt.

If something is truth, its a fact. For me its more fun to use KB&M, thats a fact. For me

Im sure your "conclusions" and "facts" that I constantly wanted you to prove, are all simply undeniable proven facts.

                    Most of them are.

Im willing to bet that people like you, who have helo stats with 1:1 KDR and had no idea how to fly nor operate it efficiently, would say NO.

Yes ppl like me who actually have logic and common sence would say that a soloer is not a teamplayer.

Im sure youve seen the movie "DogfighteR". Im talking about people who belong to the upmost top of the pilot group. And considering your pilots stats I would doubt you knew anyone of those.

My pilot stats are OK thank you very much. And just coz i dont search for jet videos on youtube makes me a bad pilot?

Can you make a consistent roll without ever lifting your hand?

No. But i can still make a consistent roll.

As I said, quote me on where I said "I would redline people because they are below 18 and not because of their skill."

Not again... I already did it once in this post i wont do it again.

*******, learn to read- I said Hitler has specific reasons why he exterminated jewish people. A lot of others fell into the same category.

Again, i said that he exterminated jews and he DID. So i wasnt wrong.

You have nearly 500 teamkills on your list on your stats. You are an idiot. It doesnt matter if youve teamkilled me or not, youre still an idiot.

I think everyone here have Tked ppl intentionally. But i havent intentionally TKed a guy who didnt deserver it. If someone would redline me or TK me for a vehical i would Tkhim back. Oh and i bet that i get 2 TK's for every J10 i've used coz everytime you get one on an FF-OFF server, some twat will force TK.

LOL, youre such a moron. If a chopper can ONLY kill, whatever it does, whoever it does for, its just killing, the end result is the same regardless of their intentions.

More or less true. But dont tell me that you kill ppl coz to help those poor guys on the ground and not for fun/KDR.

A two man team is comunicating only with each other and cooperating only with each other yet they are providing the SAME service for the team.

No they would be more efficiant than a soloer

There is virtually NO difference between a soloer and a team of 2.

                    I already explained the difference

Again, are pulling this out from your ***. A soloer is responding to spotted threats, thus hes responding to his teams needs thus hes cooperating with the team. You need to try harder.

Ffs... Killing tanks that someone spotted doesnt make you a teamworker by default.

You lack in experience both in teamwork,

:rofl::rofl::rofl: When that comes from a guy who thinks that doesnt like teamwork, VOIP and who is flying solo chopters and who doesnt like PR and ArmA, i just cant help myself not to laugh.

helicopter piloting and gameplay in general,

Chopter piloting: Yes i've only been in chopters for maybe 40 hours. Gameplay: Not really, i have played BF2 for around 600 hours.

you are then making claims based on your own limited experience that is contradicting with what goes really on in general practice.

You still havent proved me wrong. Btw, im starting a poll.

You are claiming your opinion to be the truth without any arguments to back it up.

                    Noooo, no arguments at all.

                    Hitler was a genius.

Yes and no. He was a genious for rebuilding the country, he was a great leader. But hes also a major idiot for attacking USSR and The Allied at the same time and loosing a world war that he himself started.

                    You are the idiot here.

                    Irony bites eh?

Ive explained you twice why I redline young players. You still cant accept the explanation, if you cant accept a reasoable explanation to an evil deed, you are an idiot. You dont need to accept the deed itsself, and you may disagree with the explanation, but if you bury your head into sand and ignore it, you are an ignorant *******.

Look, you said that you redline ppl coz their not 18. And that makes you an idiot. Simple as that.

Remember, it was you who said it, not me.

Im not the one who claims that everyone younger than you are dumber.
                    Replied in bold.

Chris, try to keep down the swearing or this stead might get a premature ending.

                    Edit: Making a poll

are you 12years old or just a mind of one? That was a pretty dumb way to respond to a very valid point I gave. You must be one of those players that jumps in a gunner seat that doesn't have a God Damn clue on what to do.

The post above gotta (by waaah_wah) be one of the most idiotic I've read in this thread.

Dude, grow a fcking clue. You DON'T have experience enough to talk about efficiency in choppers. If you HAD such experience, you would know it's practically impossible to find a skilled pilot or gunner in pubs once you get to a certain level. Risking your *** by teaming up with a noob is NOT WORTH it. It IS frustrating and doesn't help the team at all.

Having a pilot/gunner doesn't make you a teamworker. Teamwork is not about being killed together.
You say it's easy to kill a soloer while he guides his missile... OK ... I dare you to come to a pub while I'm soloing (or pred, or sloi), pick a random pilot/gunner and beat me/us.

He'll never accept such a challenge. In fact, I predict he will decline with a comment like "I don't care, soloing is an exploit" or a variation on the same theme.

But there are all these pilots aroudn who are God's gift to BF2 because they can fly and gun at the same time. Why not hook up with one of them?

                              We've heard that before.

Can people try to state their factual point without resorting to "dude you f*cking suck, you clearly are a w*nker with no life. I'm the greatest soloer blah blah yawn yawn..."

i never told anyone here to team up with noobs. I just tell you that redlining is stupidity and i have never said that a soloer doesnt help his team.

                                Having a pilot/gunner doesn't make you a teamworker.

Not just having one, no. But if you cooperate and comunicate with him then yes.
