Anyone using this tactic, would argue that it is skill.
But that is the biggest line of BS.
EA stated even before the 1st patch came out, that it never intended to allow that type of flying.
there is nothing wrong with solo-flying in the chopper or bomber for that matter.. it is a skill that many have mastered as you all too often get someone who should be practicing on a empty server or single player gunning. If only the chopper had a Ejector seat button for the pilot to use on the gunner now that would be great.

EA caused the chopper to lose power when you switch and thus it created a hassle for most to do it still..even nerfed the missle distance but if your good at it just as switching between a tank pilot and the top gunner than its perfectly fine. If any game maker wishes something to not be done then fix it and go on with life..otherwise do what your good at and win the game!

You see, sloi, you are too busy TKing the people you play with to recognize they are creating rules against you because you are TKing them.

But I've addressed your poor attitude around here before. Something tells me you'll think up some snappy one liner phrase to retort with yet again and continue on your self-righteous TKing way. To the guys who say ' go practice on an empty server'. Some of us dont have the time to do that, we just want to play the game, which has choppers in it , which we can use! Do you practice ground pounding on empty servers or SP? NO i dont think so.
Some people need to get over themselves!!!!
Youre directly hindering the perfomance of the most valuable asset the team has, ruining the game directly for one person and indirectly for the rest of your team. Youre being more selfish than the soloer is. And what the fvck has time have to do with this? If you have the time to fire the game up, you sure as hell have the time to do some rounds in SP, read information on forums and watch videos on youtube. Just because youre lazy doest give you the right to ruin the game for 31 other people.

Its already established that Sloi is a boogeyman, were establishing the comparision between two bads. An effective soloer is better than an ineffective duo. Dynamic duo of charred metal. And if you fire the game up, its all about YOUR fun, nobody elses. I've TK'd ONE PERSON to help out my team since I came back from Iqaluit one month ago. I think you need to stop associating me with constant TKing and overall @sshattery.

Thankfully, I don't need to reply with any witty one-liners, because we've already established the usefulness of soloers as opposed to random two-man teams or newbie pilots and gunners who do nothing more than hinder their team by wasting the most valuable asset. No, I don't have an ethug.txt file to post on forums, though it's a neat idea.

I don't encourage them to TK in order to fly a heli alone, but I do encourage them to take the necessary measures to ensure their team's victory: if that means "ejecting" the same idiot who's taken off and crashed repeatedly for the past 3 minutes, so be it.

For what it's worth, I enjoy replying to your posts: they have more substance than Vlade's and Poppa's...

You guys do know you can win most heli maps without any heli's hey? Sure the heli is an advantage but 32 guys playing as a cohesive infantry force can beat two heli and two armour whores. It doesnt matter how good of a pilot you are if the ground pounders can't stop getting killed you'll run out of tickets. Even with two killyflying machines of death you can kill their infantry faster than they kill you and you win.

I beg to differ. I've seen hundreds of variations on the opposite scenario countless times. Simply getting rid of all armor and air threats gives the team a ridiculous advantage: obviously, our groundpounders have to make an effort, because it's all wasted if they don't. However, that's one hell of a given...

Re: Chopper soloing: a problem or an art?

Id love it if DICE implemented a system where the squad leader dies every time someone from his squad died. Id see a lot of people booting less skilled players off the squad because they would get bored and irritated by dieing.

Soloers redline newbies because newbies cause them to die while they can not do anything about it. Ive redlined quite a few players ever since I began trying to solo the chopper. Mainly because, quite literally, during a whole year time, Ive met 5-6 gunners who were great and the same ammount of gunners who were bad, but were able to open their mind for improvement.

Whenever I took off with a copilot, I first took them for a spin, on their first obvious sign of lack of experience, I would redline them. If they showed basic skills or at least common sense, I would ask them for their age. If they were below 18, I would redline them. If they didnt speak English, I would redline them. If they were at least 18, had common sense, logic and spoke English, I would hide the chopper and explain them the basics and give general tips (like, shoot at the ground under the legs or front tires, aim for the tail boom and such). If they responded with snappy "LETS GO, **** YOU!", I would redline them.

The process takes 3 minutes of my time to teach a potential gunner how to gun. If the gunner shows ANY signs of unwillingness to learn, he will be redlined in an instant, without any hesitation.

I reached that state of mind because whenever I actually tried to pilot a chopper because I wanted to get better through experience, and with a completely useless gunner, I die, I dont get better, I dont have fun and the time flown is wasted in every aspect there is. The thing is, I would put up with bad gunners, but there are SO MANY of them. Like I said, Ive met a total of 10-15 people during my chopper time who either were able ot were doing good. Considering the ammount of people who have hitched a ride with me, thats a microscopical number.

And consider this, I am not even a dedicated chopper pilot. So for the dedicated chopper pilots who enjoy their aspect so much and are striving for excellence as much as I did when I discovered jets in BF2 I can only agree with "asshattery". They are engaged in a dogfight with a player that is equal in skill level, but since they cant use the TV missile, which the copilot uses with no effect, he will die. Imagine the frustration. Its a painful subject where moral values are under constant barrage by the reality of the situation.

You paid 30 bucks to have the right to press E, they paid 30 bucks to redline you. The only thing I disagree with, is the holier than thou attitude, bragging and telling that its "right" and "cool" to be a twat towards others. Fact of the matter is and still stands- its a very necessary evil.

Verzili, you said you didnt have the time to practice in SP or LAN for 50 hours. Then you dont deserve to fly a valuable asset. You dont do any work in order to improve, to be of some use and not to break the game for the rest of the players. People who are so uptight against soloers are

                          A) underexperienced in that department
                          B) have had a few good rounds with pilots that took them for a spin and think thats how the world works
                          C) think that their moral values, untouched because of the lack of experience in the department they speak in, makes their say worth anything when its the experience that has to say

Now, this post may sound like a preaching and support for redlining, teamkilling for vehicles or other total asshattery, but its really not. Its showing and giving a reason for such actions. If an infantry player was directly influenced by his fellow man, and I literally mean directly, they would do a lot of bad things too. Luckily for them, they have the option to quit and join squads at their will without hurting anyones feelings. I support servers that enforce rules of sportsmanlike and gentlemanlike behaviour, however in this subject, in a game aspect where some people are directly influenced by other people, survival of the fittest and ones with the toughest skin takes its toll. Respect and courtesy goes both ways. Practice, learn, read, practice, then go and gun. If the pilot takes you to the line, tell him to at least drop you off somewhere else, or ask for a chance. More often than not, the chance will be given unless the pilot has a dogfight in mind and a solid opposition in the air. Personally, when Im redlined out of spite, I will dedicate my presence in the server to make the life bitter for the pilot. Doublestandards, hypocrisy and selfcontradiction, but thats obvious in a game which is played for "my own personal fun".

I liked Signas approach the other night, Sig was soloing and I was in the jet, when one of the rare times he was killed, a noob jumped in the cobra and Signa refused to get in LOL I spawn on the carrier to see this guy sitting in the cobra beside Sig, hes in the gunner seat repeating "Get In" "Get In" I had to laugh when Sig typed in "sorry Im no taxi driver" the helo took off and needless to say it respawned rather quickly, proof that the guy was a nub. Then the guy goes on about Sig having an ego problem and thinking hes better than everyone, I found the rest of the round quite amusing LOL

i actually said i have put the hours in on lan with a friend well over 50.

im not saying im a expert gunner,i can fly the chopper very well,in fact when playing lan,i often idle the throttle on 34% and the chopper will just sit in midair perfectly still, well i go make a tea.

most other casual gamers don't put in the effort.

sp is one thing, its good to learn pilot skills, but becoming a expert tv on sp is a joke, the bots are thick and only offer a basic challenge, not to mention there stupid flight path.

it's the same as practicing infantry skills on sp,very easy but nothing compared to playing online.

thats where you're real test of skill comes in to play, and the abilty to get better at say gunning.

i think for the sake of all the redline victims im gona break-out my old m95 and have some fun, heli pilots only :)

for the record, the best way to disrupt the other team IMHO is to blow all there assets up,

when this happens it's more or less a win :)
