Nice excuse. I play the game normally, I'm a good player and good statistics are the result. Being obsessed about statistics doesn't automatically make them good.

Glad you see my point. In regards to S2A: you point it in the general direction of the plane (huge lock zone no skill required), wait a second for a lock, click twice and the plane dies or gets badly wounded. What more could you want? How about a 500% range increase and one shot capability? Will that make you happy?

As one of the best airplane pilots with plenty of experience I know first hand how deadly accurate S2A is in 1.4. The only real counter to S2A is to be careful and kill them before they can launch their payload. However that little strategy fails when you are going up against a S2A user who isn't an idiot and doesn't hop in the S2A till you're flying away from them.

Sure. Draw me a picture of how you flank the players sitting up in the sandbags near Hotel in USMC spamming grenades for easy 100 point rounds. It's easy to say "flank them" but it's not so easy to turn that simple statement in to a reality. If you're attempting to flank a heavily guarded area like USMC chances are you'll die the second you get near either hill. If you do manage to get to the sandbags the walk alone would've taken a minute or two and at that point it would've been a waste of time. And even if you did manage to kill the spammers they'll simply respawn while you're busy getting overrun and start all over again. You have stopped nothing and you have wasted valuable tickets and manpower in the process. This isn't strictly a Karkand scenario because the same sort of "takes too long" or "too dangerous" applies to just about every single map. In short dynamic flanking as mentioned above is a completely uneffective and unrealistic in Battlefield 2.

Actually the best defense is a tank, APC or another (better) full squad of medics. Which is one great arguement against the poor gameplay design that is IO. Class balance is a seperate issue and I agree medics are the most powerful class in the game and the other classes could all use a slight bump to equalize the balance of power.

Grenades are the anti-medic? No. Medics handle grenades better than any other class because they can revive their fallen squadmates (by grenades) and move away from the spam field, or heal any damage they have taken via grenades while on the move thus rendering the grenades useless.

No in fact grenades are a good thing for a point obsessed medics. They provide lots of corpses for easy revive points. In fact the grenade + shock paddle + IO mode + Karkand combination is the fastest and easiest way to get points in the game.

I told you my motivation before and if you don't believe it then fine but don't make me repeat myself. I want people to stop spamming grenades at random and start using them in an intelligent fashion. The end result of such a balance adjustment will improve the quality of the infantry gameplay for ALL players (after the spammers adjust). Of course the immediate result of such a gameplay style shift for the players who used to rely on grenade /claymore spam now actually have to rely on their rifle to do the majority of the killing. I find this scenario hillarious and in such an event I'd relish picking these poor n00bs apart with my 36E like fish out of water.

What you say was in 1.2, not anymore though.
At the current hits rate S2A missiles have, I'll say yes, one shot kill would make me happy. I recall 1.2 days, when I first touched the jets. It was so nice to shoot other planes down. But most of my deaths in a jet were from S2A. Of course, I didn't care, it was too fun just to fly around. I remember your posts then, saying how everything seams so noob friendly. So what? Isn't this a game for everybody to enjoy? What's wrong with giving all a better chance of winning an air combat? It's not like the sky is falling for uber pilots if some noobs are using missiles that actually hit a plane. Use the guns! These are the anti-jet weapons! Well, excuse me for not wanting to play hundreds of hours in jets!

Yap, your total deaths in a jet tell a pretty good story on how ' deadly accurate' S2A really is.

I'm not convinced. In fact if you ask around, anybody would tell you this is the main strategy to win a map. How come it doesn't apply to your games? Perhaps it takes a better SL and a better squad to do it right?

If you really are trying to get exploits fixed, how come grenades spamming are the first on your list? There are more important and more wide spread exploits, not just that on Karkand hotel. How about prone, roll and kill routine? Class balance?
Why do I bother? Eventually we'll be throwing rocks at each other…

I was talking about IO and a full squad of medics. Hello! There are no APC and tanks in IO.

Ok. Go with that first and I'm with you.
Remove or reduce grenades (that will bring even more unbalance) and I'll be here, kicking your arguments.

Me too, me too! But this is not the way to do it. Come up with something else and maybe I'll reconsider.

Good luck with that. Wait a minute! Did you just said you will use your rifle and not a cannon?! Wow! Now I'm impressed. I can't wait to see this miracle.

... and it became plain to see why you want to change everything. Congratulations, you've managed to rack up 500 hours in the game, and you're actually getting WORSE at it.

Learn how to play the fn game. Cuz you're no expert, and getting WORSE at it as time goes on. The game doesn't need to change. You need to learn how to play.

            Yeah, right!
It's hard to read all this stuff, isn't it?! If you did read, perhaps you should have noticed I was against changing, at least not the grenades. This was the point of debating with PW.
I don't have to explain myself to you or anybody about how I play.
But how can you become WORSE at a game, as you put it? Did you know that I was looking for bugs during the beta phase, instead of looking for points like the rest?
Anyway, stats are nothing to me and I don't care if you don't like them. I'm not someone who would pump up his stats and then sell on EBay.

Re: PlaneWhore's top 4 BF2 changes that need to be in the 1.5 patch

The only problems I have with the patch, are the serious ones in my opinion.

A SERIOUS issue, server disconnects at complete random. I knwo this is a patch issue and not an internet issue because I've tested this on two different ISPs. Verizon and Comcast, one was Verizon FiOS and the other Comcast Cable. The exact same problem still occured on two completely different connections.

Another SERIOUS issue is still the sniper rifle. The sniper rifle will zoom out at random when you are zoomed in on a target. I can't think of how many times I've missed shots and kill oppurtunities due to the scope zooming out at complete random.

The last SERIOUS issue in my opinion is stance changing. Althoguh i find is quite humorious when people bellyflop onto the ground, I think this is the most exploited feature within the game. It seems as thoguh peopel get a substantial accuracy boost when they change to the prone position, which is completely understandable, but not to the point of pin-point accuracy. Prone position is DESIGNED to be more accurate, which is why people use it, but now it's exploited ot where peopel will jump, prone, land, fire about 3 to 4 pin-point accurate shots, stand up, and repeat.

Out of all the other game mechanics, such as Vehicle Drops, or Air-to-Air missles not being balanced, or the n00b tube being spammed, I can deal with. For every problem I feel there is a solution. However these problems, at least two of them, are out of the people's control. We can't control how the game will randomly disconnect us, nor can we control how the sniper rifle will randomly zoom out.

I think we should get the issues that are OUT OF OUR CONTROL fixed first, then go on and fix the issues that players have troubles with. The first step to making this game less buggy, which I think peopel really have no clue what buggy even means. Apparently to the general public "buggy" means nade spam. That's not a bug, that's player exploitability. A bug is the sniper rifle zoom issue, or a random server disconnect. That's a bug. Learn the difference people. Please.

And last but most certainly not least. DICE should try to fix the "Server Update" function. i find that I have a lot of problems with this. For instance I will look at my Server Filters, change something, such as "Not Full", hit UpDate Server List, and nothign turns up! Although there are full servers, so why is nothign being turned up? So I change it back, hit Update Server List, and nothing happens!

DICE, in order for you to make a less buggy game and a more desirable and enjoyable game, fix the bugs! The bugs are simple, and I know the programmers can fix them. They've managed to mess up parts of the game, so it surly can be fixed!

Well, that's my two cents on the patch and what it needed on 1.5 should there be a 1.5. :)

I have not experienced random server disconnects. However, before I installed the drivers for my CPU, it would disconnect from a server after ~5 minutes of play. If you have an AMD X2 CPU, I suggest you give that a try.

The sniper thing happens when you zoom in too quickly after a shot. I think this is lag related, but if you make sure the bolt animation goes off to completion, it should be alright. It'll happen a lot of if you spam the zoom button though. I don't think I've ever had the zoom thing happen with the SVD/88.

The bellyflopping thing is called dolphin diving. It's been around forever, and they've been band-aiding it again and again instead of adjusting prone mechanics to fix it. I think they've been going at it the wrong way, instead of adding a delay from prone they should have a delay to prone, but that's just me.

I really wish they'd get a better in-game server browser, but alas. That's what QTracker is for.

I don't own an X2 CPU, although i wish I did. I know that the server disconnect is not just me, a lot of people have had it occuring since the 1.4 release. Infact I didn't think much of my random disconnects until i really started to read here at this site and noticed my problem was not unique but rather wide-spread. And I know it's the patch because before when i had the same internet, i have both Comcast Cable and Verizon FiOS in the same house, I had perfect connections and no disconnects, but once 1.4 hit, well, random disconnects and just plain bad servers.

The sniper thing I doubt is lag, because I don't spam the zoom button. Usually I'll sit there for awhile looking for a target, then every once in awhile when I'm scanning it will zoom out. Or, vice versa, it will zoom in! No idea why, never happened to me before in any of the other patches, yet once 1.4 was released, alas, the problems.

Oh well. Seeing as how DICE Canada makes BF2 and DICE Sweden is making BF2142, I think the support and overall patching of the game will be much much better. Well...hope that is...

... and it became plain to see why you want to change everything. Congratulations, you've managed to rack up 500 hours in the game, and you're actually getting WORSE at it.

Learn how to play the fn game. Cuz you're no expert, and getting WORSE at it as time goes on. The game doesn't need to change. You need to learn how to play.
You're just an idiot Quokka. Batausu has perfectly fine statistics infantry wise and it's very clear he's no point whore and is actualy a team player. Spending almost all of his time as anti-tank to deal with the armor that can really hurt a team. I know this concept make be foreign to you because you're content to set in IO Karkand a toss nades but just STFU already.

I'm one of the most skilled players you'll ever meet and guess what - I want changes to the gameplay to make Battlefield 2 more skillful. Just because some of us aren't completely happy with the way the game is designed does not mean we cannot cope with it. That's a very stupid assumption and one which my statistics prove is completely false. I think it's a pretty noble endeavor too because if you look at the latest creation from DICE (2142) they are steadily and continually making this FPS series more and more newbie friendly and much less skillful across the board. And like it or not the grenades and claymores are two examples of this is dumbed down gameplay design philosophy in BF2. I guarantee I could teach for example my mother (who has never played a game other than Tetris in her life) to score 100+ points on Karkand using grenades in about 3 minutes.

This is actually a disturbing trend that a LOT of game developers are starting to follow in an effort to connect with the "casual" gamers who don't like to lose and can't be bothered to learn how to play. This thread I've created is just one way I'm fighting back against this dumbing down of our first person shooters.

Oh and like it or not (and again I hate to go off-topic) but IO mode is basically Battlefield 2 easy mode. It takes quite a bit more skill and intelligence to consistantly do will in a regular Battlefield 2 game then it does to do well in statpadders mode.

PlaneWhore, might I make a suggestion? Seeing as how you made the thread, and there are a lot of views on this subject, might you go back onto topic? As I value your input on my suggestions, as to wherther or not my bugs, which may or may not be bugs due to new information provided by Sorrenart. So all-in-all I'd appreciate it if you could give input on these bugs, and how DICE might fix them. Or otherwise please get back onto topic, as this topic could go rather in-depth and we might just pull out some good ideas.

As you said earlier, DICE/EA views forums liek this, and how shoudl they ever take us to be professional and/or serious when everyone is complaining liek a bunch of kids and going drastically off-topic, then whinning about stats of a player and so forth?

As I said before, as you're the thread starter on the 1.4 patch, I value your input on my post and would like to hear what you have to say in regards to it. So please, no more off-topic, useless posts? :)

Thank you, PW, coming from a player who values stats so much as you do, I don’t think I deserve that much appreciation. :p
It seams we have some common views and also some divergent opinions, but clearly the goal is the same: improving the gaming experience for all.
I was always in favor of improving. I don’t pretend to be right every time. Indeed, sometimes there is a need to cut off some of the more dominant features. Except that grenades don’t look so threatening to me. And I’m not even using them.
There are other things more disturbing to me and others, which have been mentioned before. These are the ones that should be fixed first IMO. Grenades spamming is the last on my list.
A jet looks more menacing to me. Let’s face it: S2A is not up to the task of defending against air vehicles. It’s not only me saying that.
We can only hope for some improvements.
Personally I think there is a small chance we’ll get what we want from DICE, but from mods. Too bad mods are inherently based on the same bugged code as vanilla.

Spending almost all of his time as anti-tank to deal with the armor that can really hurt a team. I know this concept make be foreign to you because you're content to set in IO Karkand a toss nades but just STFU already.
Whatever dude. I have more time as AT, so there goes THAT little theory of yours. But you aint to quick on the uptake, and judging from this entire thread, you aint too good at infantry either. But I'll slow it down a little bit, so you can understand. My point wasn't particularly about what he was good at, more that he's actually worse at it today than he's every been. And in the most important 'team' stat too... which is 'win-loss-ratio'.

Every post in here tells a different story. Not only that, I note you DON'T show your OWN stats, while constantly blathering on about how leet u r. And frankly, perma-noob, if you think you're one of the most skilled players I'LL ever meet, it does nothing more than highlight my point about how much of an idiot you are. But then again... the original post should hold no secrets on THAT front.

The game doen't need to be changed, in spite of your desire to turn it into something that helps you deal with your lack of skill at an infantry level. So how about you just do a little bit of reading of your own posts, and take you own advice.

                              And just STFU already.

Thank you, too, for showing me what I have to get better at. Sometimes, one can do so much to help his team to win. I have my good days and my bad days, much like the next person.
But it’s no need to deviate from our subject at hand.

Of course not, but do you agree there are still some unbalanced things left? Don’t we have to point it out to DICE and hope for the better?
This is the point of this thread, to identify the flaws and come up with fixes. If you care to join us, be my guest, but throwing harsh words at people doesn’t make you popular.
If you think there are no flaws and the game is perfect, then I guess you should leave us ‘perma-noobs’ to our babblings and go play your perfect game.
