I'm not gonna sign it. I'm not in a clan. But this kind of thing does concenr me. We had the same issue in CS (when I played) That the pros thought if their clans couldnt adapt to CS:S the community would die. Well hey presto the Competative tournaments shifted to source and the CS community is still going strong.
This patch won't kill good clans. It will just kill clans who cannot adapt to take advantage of systems in the game.

Why are we (Squad changers) being told to adapt? It's this pathetic community which has already made EA nerf the game so much that you people can adapt to it easier. This has been a part of the game for nearly a year and you've finally decided to complain? lol what a joke.

You do understand, that the reason its becomming a hot topic lately, is because its something that has increased within the last few weeks. 2 months ago, i rarely even saw it happening. Heck i dont think i ever saw it happening. Now, every game, every server, any time of the day i decide to play, its very much a part of the game now. Its widespread. And its really annoying. No people arnt' whinn'n now out of the blue. Its just that this hopp'n thing has just now only gotten out of hand.'
And there is NO ONE on this forum that can convince me that teamwork hasnt gotten worse on pub servers. No one. And wether you believe it or not, squad jumping, is in fact, a part of the teamworking concepts, demise.

Kind of wacky that most clans feel squad leader/hop'n is important. I find that disturbing actually. I mean the whole purpose of a clan is to use extreme teamwork, and to use on the field tactics, and what not. I didnt realize that they relyed so much on hitting the menu key 2 times.

Sad really. I guess BF2 does need saving.

It's really not suprising at all that clanners like the psudo-feature. They are much more likely to get together with things like TS or Vent. This let's the communicate without having to depend on the in-game VoiP and reduces the need for solid squads.

In comp play, it can get perty crazy. It's intense when you're playing 12 vs 12 and everyone is hopping all the time. You get 15 seconds to wipe out the other squad or you'll be sure to see troops popping back in. They may or maynot be bringing re-enforcements. The fire fights get totally nuts.

The problem is that it's overpowering when your mixing that with noobs/pubbers/casual players. Non-clanners simply can't compete with that and can't be expected to.

Look everyone...you people are totally missing the boat on this. The whole point to the Squad in the game is to make a unit that works together. If you take away the "squad hopping" or more importantly the rotating squadleader tactic it does nothing but make one person on your team (mainly the SL) have to hide out somewhere to avoid dying. Many of you will say "Big Deal", but it really is a big deal, as there will be no advantage to being the SL. Who wants to hide out while your squad racks up the kills and points, and you get no action.

Let me tell you from experience, I have played on 32 player servers where my team was getting it handed to us because we had a bunch of loners who were just running all over the map. When me and my 3 person squad, using the rotating SL tactic turned the tides in our favor. We worked as a great team, took and defended flags (something else nobody seems to do on Pubs). The people who don't like it just have never used the tactic or you would be on our side of this issue. It makes the game more intense and you get to stay in the action, rather than spending it running from here to there all game long because your squad is halfway across the map, you were the SL, and you died.

I played in a tour or Comp for the past 6 months. People just don't realize what they are missing out on as far as taking BF2 to a whole new level. In fact if most of you did know the things that can be done as a WHOLE TEAM on the field of battle, you too would agree that the changes they are putting in are bad for the whole community.

I can't tell you how many times I've been called a NOOB for flying a Blackhawk at 500 ft and providing a mobile spawn point for my squad, because they didn't realize that you can HALO to almost any point on the map from that altitude. I was told in one server if I didn't quite messing around in the Black Hawk I would be kicked (what a genious that was). In fact they probably didn't realize that you can glide a long way while freefalling. Is this the next thing that will be taken out, because those that don't use it or know about it or understand it, don't like it???

I do that SL roll quite a bit. No, you don't get super high scores, but you do make an impact on the battle. I also personally find it fun. So do the people I play with. Not everyone is focused on kills and points.

Fixing bugs within the game is great, but when they start messing with the game itself to the extremes that they have been it begins to get out of hand. I for one never bunnyhopped, or dolphin dove, or threw C4 and then exploded it. Others did and did it pretty good, they killed me quite a bit. But hey it wasn't to the extreme that it was out of hand. I killed them a bunch too. I for one thought that it was pretty studpid to take it out. Now you can't even jump and throw C4 over a wall to kill a tank or APC that is tearing your team up.

I really don't see the problem with refining and evolving gameplay. As things change, things get interesting. I've found that the tweaks have kept it fresh. This should be especially true for clans and tourny players. Instead of relying on the same tactics forever, they have to evolve along with the game. As someone mentioned above, the best will adapt to the challenge quickly. New ways to own. Figure 'em out.

Anyway, I get sick of hearing those that think everything is an exploit or cheat or whatever. Just play the game... I for one think DICE/EA has already messed with the game too much, but if they must do this Squad thing then it should just be a server setting not a total removal.

An exploit is something that the designers didn't intend, through either a bug or oversight, that alters the way the game is played and gives an advantage.

Clearly, Dice conisders this to be an exploit since they wouldn't make a move to fill it in if they didn't, right?

That said, I do it myself from time to time. I personally consider it a very minor exploit. If it goes, I'll miss it like I miss the C4 lobbing (I was doing it before it was the thing to do, then quite when everyone was doing it). If it stays, I'll adapt and keep on playing. I tend to have more fun in stable squads while pubbing anyway. If it's a setting... I prolly pub with it off.

What if they said that they were going to remove all UNLOCKS from BF2. That would probably make the most of you go through the roof, yelling like crazy, starting a couple of dozens Petitions-online! "No, this will take away all the fun and spirit with BF2" -you will probably say then. But I or other clanners, wouldn't care less, because we never or seldom use the unlocks anyway. And you guys never use the squad-jumping feature. But we would probably help you signing your "Keep the unlocks" petitions anyway to be nice and just for the sake of EA/ DICE not messing with something that works and no one complains about.
This is what I feel about squad-jumping. Why remove a feature so many people use as a tactic, since it actually helps the team?
But dolhin-diving and prone-spamming was also a tactic in a way, some of you might say. Yes they were, so try to adapt and counter a tactic, instead of removing it when a game is 1 year old. If you are up against a squad that is hopping, stand back with you SL and try to seek out and destroy them instead.

what are you supposed to do as squad members when youre squad leader is flying in a plane???? and the noob wont land,eject so you can spawn on him???

just look at the runways on pub servers full of ppl waiting for a plane that are in squads ect.

i had this problem the other day,seem pointless having a squad leader that was in a plane.

i dont see how leaving the squad and rejoining it,is a bad thing all that happens is the squad leader is changed,whats the problem with that.

leave a squad,join a squad,get invited to a squad ect,until you find a squad you feel comfortable with.

i havent heard anyone complain about it untill now,how long has the game been out????? long enough for it to stay as it is.

Leave his squad and join another... BEFORE you die. Suicide and respawn if you want to get to him in 15 seconds. Hope he doesn't die in the meantime.

No change there... as long as you're not doing it while dead, you can still change your squad and spawn on the new SL.

If you don't like people squad hopping JUST LOCK YOUR SQUAD!!!! Then they can't hop in and out without an invite. If everyone that was so worried about this would do that then only those squads that want people to be able to Join and drop squad will be able to.

You miss the point.
It's not the people jumping in and out of your squad that's annoying (although it can be). Rather, it's when you and your squad rush out to take on some guys you see coming in and drop 'em all... except one guy. within 15 seconds you've got 6 guys coming at you again. You try to take 'me out, but now there's 8, no, 12, no... it's the entire enemy team! Crap!!

It can make defence next to impossible.

It's also annoying when you're commanding and see a lownwolf sneak to an undefended flag. No biggy, just launch arty. Oops, that lonewolf has just turned into 6 guys, they've capped the flag, and your arty isn't even close.

People using you as a mobile spawn point is the least of the issue.

No it's not, you obviously don't know what you're talking about!
We did it in clan-match the other day. Just have to have SL hidden somewhere and spawn on him. Seek out their Squaddie, try to take out the rest of them before they have changed SL. As I said before, adapt and create counter-tactics instead. "UAV is your friend"
And who says the squadjumping wasn't intended or noticed from the beginning by EA/DICE? Did you create the game?

No change there... as long as you're not doing it while dead, you can still change your squad and spawn on the new SL.

what if im in a squad with a few m8/good players and the squad leader is flying in a plane,why should i have to kill myself and join another squad?

all you gain from squad hopping is the chance to get close to the action or,another part of the map.

locking squads will force you to stay in the same squad,and if you sl is in a jet then the only option is to kill yourself and join another squad,dosent seem to be a good way to play the game imo.

not to mention if this happens.......uk players may understand a little better.

example i play on ea uk-only servers yet i have join a squad at the start of a map only to be bombarded with ,german,french talking(on voip) how the heck do i comunicate with players like that??

so i simply leave the squad(without killing myself) and join another with english talking players.

i should not be forced to kill myself just becuase i dont speak that particular language.

This is a very effective tactic that can shift the balance of the game considerably with even just one or two squads doing it.

How people can argue that changing squads to help someone take/hold a spawn point isn't an example of good teamwork is beyond me. Also a good commander will ask people to spawn on differnet squads that need reinforcements, yet another example of teamwork. This option being taken away IMO will just lead to more useless lone wolf's and base rapping becuase people won;t have the ability to change squads on the fly to help someone capture other spawn points. I never saw this as being an issue or problem with the game but congrats to the complainers for once again getting something changed that didn't need to be. I wish that you would complain about some of the actual problems with the game instead of getting EA/Dice to waste time and resources on changing elements of the game that are fine and have worked correctly from day one.
