We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Most people DO like squad hopping (EAUK poll, 78% of the voters did not want squad hopping to be removed). But i have seen a few whiners complain about it.
78% of the people at EAUK is a tiny fraction of the BF2 community. That's not even counting the people that don't even know BF2 forums exist. We all know how effective internet polls are... Just give it up, there's no player or clan in the community that has a rational or logical reason for this exploit to exist.
I am personally not in favor of getting rid of "squad hopping." I find it useful to actually get into the front lines instead of having to schlep halfway across the map when the squad leader dies and the nearest spawnpoint has no vehicles left at it.
Having said that, it does get abused on occasion, and if the ability to switch squads while dead does go by the wayside with the next patch, then so be it. It's not a deal-breaker to me, and though I've disliked some of EA's solutions to some issues (bunny-hopping, etc.), they haven't been bad enough to be a deal-breaker. I still enjoy the game enough to have devoted 400 hours of my life to it.
I really don't care about any squad changes since I usually stay in one squad anyway or I am the squad leader. This is not exactly a big corcern though...I mean who really cares if people change squads or not?

"it does get abused on occasion" that my friend is exactly why this exploit should be removed. It's no secret that a few bad apples ruin it for everybody. That's why we have gun laws, DRM, etc. Thanks for being reasonable enough to admit that the game will not be broken for you when and if squad hopping is removed. Unlike the rest of the cowards that are gonna create their eulogy threads when EA "ruins" the game. As if they're ever gonna stop playing, ha!

You're welcome. :)
Assuming they actually do implement the Hummer-drop, it won't be SO bad, as my main complaint of not being able to get to the fight in a timely fashion will be somewhat mitigated. But to me, that feature reeks of crazy internet rumour.
I have absolutely no problem with 'Squad Hopping'. It allows people to join their friends when they die, bring them closer to the action or their objective.
People are going to bitch that they have to run all the way from a captured (or in some cases camped), spawn point instead of being able to spawn on a squad leader; its not fun for gameplay.
Example:
Your team only has one flag left, perhaps its uncapturable. Every spawn point is being camped. You don't have time to change squads while alive to the one squad leader that is in a HUMVEE on his way to a flag behind enemy lines - this will be no fun.
Yes, the vocal few are liking this, but as stated above it will add more tedium (having to run from a spawn point), to an arcade sim that doesn't need more down-time - which this is; this is basically coming down to another "arcade vs. reality" argument.
Additionally, the outcry of the masses will be huge, I think, when they report "I'm unable to change squads while dead."
I predict if 1.30 implements this, that they'll be a 1.31 that will undo it.

BF2142 was a crazy internet rumour before it was made widely known. Not only that but if I'm not mistaken ET:QW has a similiar vehicle-drop feature. It just may be true!

Yes, squad hopping makes it easier to get around the battlefield but the downside is that a real good team of squad hoppers can be nearly invincible. Might as well throw a quad damage and invincibilty powerup on the battlefield if squad hopping is not going to be removed imo.

You think finding a HUMVEE is hard now...wait til everyone needs one. Perhaps that's why they are supposedly letting commanders drop HUMVEES to alleviate that?

Vehicles will always be hard to come by no matter what DICE does to the game. Nerfing squad hopping won't make much of a difference since most squad hoppers are on foot anyway.
My way of dealing with vehicle deprived spawn points is to just dig in and defend the point for awhile while you wait for a vehicle to respawn. You usually don't have to wait long and you might just save CP while you're at it.
I think removing squad hopping is the least of our worries. There is still that massive list of bugs that could be addressed, but no, we get squad hopping.

I don't understand why you said 'most squad hoppers are on foot anyway'. Isn't the whole point of squad hopping being able to spawn on a squad leader so you DON'T have to run from a captured flag?
Or are you talking about that organized squads that rotate squad leaders to whomever is alive at the time?

I didn't quite understand your response to my previous post either :P

good to know they stopped releasing maps in patches and decided to make us pay 10 bucks for them.
Or play a plethora of custom maps, albeit not ranked, there are ALOT of great custom maps.

Deffend?? Wazzat??
Again this will add tedium. People want action, not "sim wait." This also is the reason why people don't defend flags...its boring.
