not to mention that the very idea that gooseman has started working on cs2, let ALONE finished it is ludacris.
it's already been confirmed by goose himself, on television no less. Not to mention other bits and peices known about it circulating the web.

Why did they neglect to fix all the hitbox errors?

The new statsme upgrade is almost as bad as 1.6 with HS's. ?;[

I hope they neglected all this shiz to employ it in the real update.
The hitboxes were broken in CS 1.1 until 1.5 finally fixed them. The excess headshots are due to the random spray bullet physics inherent in CS, not hitbox size or location errors.

ive also noticed once u load up steam, it is using a constant 5-10% cpu power. even when it is not downloading anything.

what the f**k is it doing to use up 5-10% cpu time? i hope it wont do this during the actual game!
I never had any problems with CPU usage while playing CS 1.6 on my old Celeron 533mhz. That computer was a piece too. At least to me, I found that CS 1.6 ran a lot smoother than 1.5.

New version date release as change from "06/05/2003" to "coming soon". Seems like Valve found some last minute bugs.

interesting, but really, how much could be worked on? I guess artists' sketches and renderings and the like, but I would imagine that the bulk of the work would have to be done with more sophisticated technology than the old half life engine (i.e. the majority of cs2's production would have to be done well after hl2's release?)

anyone know how many cs1.x's are goign to be released? I would imagine that cs2 will probably be at least another year in the making.

Well they can't make more than 3 more. Up to 1.9 that is... Unless they start doing 1.9 & 3/4 and such! :)

leave it to you to state the obvious. somehow I doubt they'll make three more updates before 2.0 anyway.

chances are this steam update wont go live for another week.

I'm sure the HL2 engine has been finished for some time now, its production started 5 years ago so i assume it was finished by 2001 which is when CS2's development probably started with the HL2 engine.

After the engine was finished they will spend another 2 1/2 years making HL2 the game itself, setting us up for a september release.

                          speculation is king.

                            cs2 won't be on the hl2 engine i believe.

My guess would be 1.7 would be the final release before CS2. Possibly 1.8, but I doubt it. Since 1.7 will be fully integrated into Steam, I'd say they'll just have a million mini updates.
