1.6 BETA Update

Yeah, now whenever I double-cl1ck on 'Counter-Strike' on the Steam 'Games' menu, it crashes Steam...



But then again it's beta, and then again, my computer can't handle running anything other than MS-DOS prompt.

Why update CS anyway? 1.5 is close to perfection, and in 1.6 they just slaughter counter-strike.

Well at least for me 1.6 runs a lot smoother and way better fps.

I've got some issues with Steam ATM. Every server on my list have a ping of 250 & upwards from there. Usually, I have around 300 - 500 ping with my 0.5 MBit ADSL.... That's not right & now after re-installing Steam, CS locks up when I try to connect to a server (could be the weird ping!)



Ordinary Internet & such works perfectly & my d/l speed lies as usual around 55KB/s so it can't be my Internet connection (well possibly...). The problems started a few weeks ago (maybe around 3 weeks or so)



Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I know it's a beta & that a lot of people have had trouble with it but I haven't had a problem EVER since I got it. I don't have that many other games to play so I'm bored kinda Help me plz?

I reformatted my hard disk and bought a new mouse, but still no update

I have a problem with Steam, I changed my resolution to 1600x1200 and my vid card and monitor support over that but I can't RUN any Steam games, meaning I can't go in to the GUI2 interface because of it..

Need some help pls, Thx.

Btw, I've got another problem with Steam. Every time I make a change to my settings, all my key binds disappear. Not the default ones but the ones that I have added myself like, bind "i" "say_team timeleft"



Is there some way to make 'em stay even though I make a change? I can't figure out why the binds must be erased because I change resolution... Seems weird to me! :)



On a sidenote, it seems that it was my firewall (for some invisible reason) that caused my previous problems with Steam. Shutting it off makes more & better servers pop up... totally weird

I'm experiencing that frequently. My "solution" (based on superstition) is as follows:

1.) Reboot machine.

2.) Do nothing except Start up Steam & Log in.

3.) Wait for steam to cease all activity (i.e. the tray icon stops moving). Do not start any game.

4.) Close Steam and reboot machine.

5.) Repeat 2.)

6.) Try to launch the game of your choice.

7.) If unsuccessful, repeat the whole procedure.

Same with me ever since. Always 100ms+ compared to what I'm used from regular CS.
