  • Article: Red Dead Redemption 2 Rumors Provide New Details on Single Player and Multiplayer Including Battle Royale Mode

    Red Dead Redemption 2
A rumor that seemingly sprung up over night from a single outlet, perhaps sheds a few details on some of the gameplay features we can expect to see in Red Dead Redemption 2. Trusted Reviews published a rumor earlier today that suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 will include the ability to play in first-person mode, the multiplayer will include a Battle Royale mode, and more.

Trusted Reviews say that they first learned about a lot of these potential details back in August of 2017. It was only due to confirmation of some of the included details on the document by Rockstar's own marketing materials that Trusted Reviews feels confident enough to publish what they were told. Of course, this is still very much a rumor until announced or confirmed by Rockstar. It is also possible that some details have changed or some features outright removed from what was provided to Trusted Reviews back in August. With that said, let's see what new information they choose to share.

First up, Red Dead Redemption 2 online's component will feature modes called "Battle Royale," "Review and Survive," and "Money Grab." It remains to be seen if this rumored "Battle Royale" mode is akin to something like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or Fortnite Battle Royale, but it's probably a safe bet it'll at least be close to it.

"Revive and Survive" is said to place two teams against each other. The goal is to stay alive. You will have to revive teammates and get revived in order to keep your limited number of team lives in check.

"Money Grab" again places two teams against each other. As you may have already gathered, the object of this mode is to pick up a single, centrally located bag of money and bring it back to your base.

The documents in Trusted Reviews' possession also say that the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature NPCs that decorate their storefronts with wares during the day and put them away and close up at night. Rewards for accomplishing various in-game feats will also be presented to the player. These include travelling a certain distance, to taking out an enemy with a bow from over 100 meters away.

While GTA Online features apartments, it looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature tents that can be owned and upgraded by players. Other activities seem to include gold mining, fishing, herding, and various weapon challenges. Fishing sounds like it will be moderately in-depth with the ability to purchase different baits and tackles.

Trusted Reviews says that the game will ship with a first-person mode, much like the one that was added to Grand Theft Auto V. You will once again be able to collect various plants for crafting purposes. The world is filled with various NPCs including gunsmiths, general store owners, and undertakers. There is also going to be some gambling that you can bet your money on. A "Slums Market" is also said to be included. This will allow you to pick up equipment at a reduced cost.

Vehicles include minecarts, handcarts, and horse-drawn carriages. There will be variants of these that include armor or the ability to go faster than a regular model. Trains will once again return. Train interiors are now full explorable with unique NPCs on board.

Of course, Dead Eye makes its return from the previous game. It does have some upgraded capabilities this time including the ability to track bounties through fields and detect what fish or animals are nearby. Random Events are in the game, similar to the Strangers and Freaks from past GTA games. Some of these new events include bounty hunting quests, treasure hunts, and an adventure with a "mysterious stranger."

Supposedly, the main campaign will have a number of branching paths that will lead to different mission outcomes. This will also affect mission objectives and dialogue you hear. Wanted levels are back again. You know how those work. It's now also apparently possible to force people to offer up information thanks to some contextual dialogue options that present themselves if you injure someone in a certain way or pull them off of their horse.

Of course, we have just a few months to go to see if this is all true or not. Rockstar will undoubtedly provided further concrete details as the months continue on towards the October 26, 2018 release date.
