I really don't know why people have a bug up their ass about 2142. We saw about 15 seconds of gameplay footage and now the world seems to be coming to an end. Having exhausted most of the interesting time periods for games DICE is moving to the future.
This thing will only cost like $60, so why get so bent out of shape? Everyone is calling the idea 'gay' without offering any good alternatives for a game.Comment

Their own damn poll had many different options for the next BF game, and all of them came out higher in popularity than "Future/SciFi". They decide to go with the least popular theme and then try to tell us it's what we wanted? Screw them, that's why people are ****ed. Personally I would have liked to see the Korean War or maybe Vietnam again so they could do it right instead of the half-assed job they did the first time around. Even just sticking to the present would have been fine if they expanded on what they have and made it bigger and better with more game types.Originally posted by unununiumComment

Good point. I don't like "future" battlefields, with weapons that don't exist. This has the EA stamp all over it. I likely will not purchase it because I'm sticking with BF2 until its dead. Thanks to EA another great series has been destroyed.Comment

As long as it's a fun video game, I'm happy.
I know it breaks the hearts of a lot of people when you refer to the battlefield series as a video game and not a historically accurate war simulation that can be masturbated to, but oh well...Comment

I couldn't give a **** about some retarded MECHS as long as I get somethign that resembles somethign that actually happened or is incredibly likely to happen in the VERY near future.
Video Game? Excuse me. I play BF2 for the mods. BF2 Vannilla Sucks ASS. Unbalanced, unrealistic, uninovative, uninteresting, I could go on. FH2, PR, POE2, Pirates, Shattered Faith (which 2142 is a rip off of, essentially, not to mention a plethora of other Mech games) EoD2...
This is the beggining of the end for DICE. They'll make 2142, and lose half the player base and revenue, if not more, and EA will can em, split em up, and throw em onto other monotonous projects.Comment

I personally like T-90s and Abrams.... Ak47s and pistols! I never ever though of even trying a mech warrior.... and will never do.

The bug up people's asses is most likely from loyal fans of the series who have been playing teambased semi-realistic Battlefield titles for 5+ years only see it turn into a George Lucasian cash-cow of a monstrosity aimed at the lowest common denominator. As you can see from the result of this poll more people than not think the whole concept sucks ass.
