Or would you perfer it if They just kept of pumping out patch after patch for BF2 while going broke in the process.
OR mabye if they released A futuristic war game under a different name. that issint BFwhatever. Im guessing you wouldent havea problem with it if it was essentially the same game but wasent sloganised with the BF franchise.

it will send all the future robot loving kiddies away from bf2 and onto something different, leaving BF2 to mature gamers. :yay:

BIG NO HERE.
I personally like T-90s and Abrams.... Ak47s and pistols! I never ever though of even trying a mech warrior.... and will never do.

Ya know Duck... that's really too bad. The Mechwarrior series had it's own special charm that you'd prolly bet into given a proper chance.

Hehe, this is gonna sound odd, but I actually held a class soley based on MWIII. Every student had to design a mech loadout as their homework assignment. The test was a grand melee there their deisgn were put to the test. Later we had a bull session about what worked, what didn't, and why.

It was a very constuctive class and the student came away with a solid understanding of good mechanics systems. I came away with $500 in cource credits 'cause I wasn't the teacher!

Point is, it had a very interesting and indepth engineering aspect that would likely apeal to ya.

Well, I checked, and we're both wrong. Battlefield 1942 will be 5 years old in a couple of months.

But not now, why would dice go ahead and use an old game engine to go up agains ET:QW? when it comes donw to sales there going to lose out because everyone will be buying ET:QW and not EA's BF2142

That is the problem with everyone. They assume things such as this. To be honest, the BF2 Engine is pretty damn nice. You assume Quake Wars will be good, but you really have no idea if it will be or not. Maybe we could try this new and improved concept. Play what you like. If you like both games, get them. I really don't see what the big deal is about. 2142 is a logical move.

Brainless idiot, yeah you, they wouldnt need to waste money "pumping out patch after patch" if they had gotten it right the first time, or at least after the first couple of patches.

They dont patch the game for the sake of patching it, they patch it because there are major ****ing problems, like gameplay issues or show stopping bugs. Hell im sure most people here would prefer if the game didnt need to be patched, but that would imply that BF2 was perfect upon release, which it most certainly wasnt.

Proof is in the pudding really, if DICE had done a better job in the development stages (which by now you would think they would be pretty bloody competent at given all the patching they had to do for BF1942 and BFV) then they would not have to waste resources and money to put out patches.

End of story.

If I wanted futuristic I'd go and buy UT2007 when it comes out. The dev's have been doing that scenario for years, and have got it down nearly perfect.

Why don't DICE stick to what they know? Past, present and near future battles? There must be a hundred different scenarios they could have come up with, but the easiest, and most obvious, was to leap into the future and use all the stereotypes, Mech's, invisability, hover vehicles etc etc. Easy option if you ask me.
