One thing that always surprises me about gamers is how they get their panties in a bunch when their favorite company that makes their favorite game decides to make a sequel. This whole "boycott <insert sequel here>" or "<insert sequel here> sux" is starting to become very cliche now and I see it happen to every game series.

Just cut the crap out and enjoy the game when it comes out because you know damn well you will be buying it lest you want to look like a fool in front of your buddies that are playing it. I bet there's plenty of hypocrites on these forums that said the same thing about BF2 before it came out yet they still bought it and continue to play. pfft

I'm not one for calling boycotts, people can decide what they want to buy with their own money. And I also don't mind sequels if done properly, and I can see why they're attractive for companies like EA, if the original is popular, then you will have an automatic fan base for the sequel.

And no I don't know if I will be damn well buying it. I didn't go for Special Forces or Euro Force as for one I didn't think they deserved more of my money given the frustrations I had with BF:2 and secondly I couldn't see a lot of substance there for the dollars. The concept of 2142 rings my bells even less. But unless Quake Wars is an absolute peice of junk which no-one plays, that's what's going to get my money later on in the year. BF2142 would have to be an exceptional game radically improved over BF2 to make me switch from vanilla BF2.

Yea, they definately shouldn't be done with BF2 and I think its quite early to think about the next game. But its kinda nice cause then hopefully the cost of BF2 will drop as I am not planning on getting this too-early-released of a video game.

i dont like the whole concept of Bf2142. i think that EA is lazy and stupid. i think that when they saw all the bf2 problems, the ones they still cant fix, they just decided to drop the game and make a sequel. thats really lazy and lame. i bet that they just expect everyone to buy it becasue it is a Bf2 game, and they expect it to be as good as the original game. i for one am NOT planning on buying it

TBH, this game looks disgusting, its nothing more then BF2 in year 2142, which is nothing more then crap.
BF2 will own this.

i totally agree with everyone who hates this absurd 2142.

EA just wants to get all the sci fi losers to buy it and hope they can compensate for not fixing the bugs properly in BF2.

its just the same as a gay mod, but itll probably have more bugs and cost 50 bucks.

Hehe... ICB is defiantly one of the least useful members of the community.
Constantly confusing the use of the word "gay" for something that makes him cool is only a single symptom.

Dude seriously needs to develop a vocabulary... and an IQ wouldn't hurt either.

Also, I would like to see bf42 2 but now that i think of it there are too many WWII shooters on the market anyway so they might as well make this. Just way to rushed. Guess what just like bf2!!

I strongly suspect that Dice has been working on the design document for this game for about 4 years... if not longer.

They were big Tribes fans and made no secret about it being a major influance on their BF games. I recall seeing an interview in a PC Gamer waaaaaay back where they were asked what they'd really like to do if they could do anything.

The answer given: "We'd like to do a sci-fi based game along the lines of Tribes, but bigger and better". At the time, Dynamix was still up and running, though, and they felt that there wasn't enough room in the market for 2 deeply detailed and tactical sci-fi shooters. I'd bet Dice almost wet themselves when that last Tribes game flopped horribly and made room for 'em to get their Opus Mangnum to the market.

I voted 'no', because this just smells like a direct competitor to 'Quake Wars', just for the sake of it. Doesn't mean I'll dismiss it out of hand though.

They couldn't do worse. I've played Quake 4 and it's an average Single player game, and poor multiplayer game. It looks great, but ho hum.

The only compt. is Unreal2007 (or whatever it's called).
