Voted no as well. Most of the Battlefield series' alure for me is its psuedo realism. That and I can see BF2142 being nothing more than a skin-job of BF2 with no new concepts, gametypes or even graphics (bar a polish job on the existing BF2 engine).

Sorry, but the whole concept looks like it was thought up in a boardroom and not the result of fanbase suggestions like it shoulda been.

Anyone remember the poll they had on the BF2 EA site for "where do you want the battlefield series to go next"? From memory the future was the lowest ranking response, and I think a Russian conflict or something only 20 years in the future was the most popular (maybe even a return to WWII).

Keep an eye out at e3 and do some research on the game, you are making a lot of assumptions that could be completly false. And I feel that being set only 136 years in the future is still "psuedo realistic" this isn't star wars and theres not going to be any lazers and mechs are just badass! I feel it was a step in the right direction and I wonder where they plan on taking the franchise from here. Hopefully they expand on this great storyline and maybe make some sort of "good" campaign mode. An objective mode maybe? We'll see only time will tell.

I think the idea sucks bigtime. I personally will be moving on to Armed Assault when it is released. I've always hated space games and think they're aimed at younger players, give me realism anytime, lasers!, cloaking devices! and mines that follow you WTF!!!!!.

It's a good idea, but BF2 hasn't even been out for a year. Let BF2 run strong for a year or two THEN make a new game. By that time they could have a new kick ass engine made to run BF2142.

ditto, leave it for awhile. I haven't got my fix of BF2 yet and already they're dangling another carrot in front of me. back off! Let me enjoy the game for a while before cleaning out servers for this new game.

i think that is the gayest idea that Ea and DiCE ever came up with. the only futureistic game i even play is star wars battlefront. i think all other futuristic games and movies are gay. i dont really know why i dont think star wars is gay. i guess that i respect star wars for some reason, not sure why though. i guess because it was such a monumental movie, and it was so different than all the other sci-fi movies at that time. you can almost believe that some star wars things would work, they way the books describe them and how they are suppositly build. i just like star wars and respect it

So if I read a lot of posts here correctly, the future will be gay? Will there be a fairy or cross-dressing class in BF2142? Maybe the story shouldn't be about the earth freezing or whatnot but instead a shrinking world population due to a plague of butt-piracy?

But yeah, I guess what a lot of you are trying to say is that futuristic games/movies can suck really, really bad if not done right. As opposed to the previous BF games which we loosely based on historical/contemperary technologies and conflicts.

haha, I really haven't looked much into that new game, but now i am hearing it is going to be release this fall? Dude what the hell, did they just pull it out of their butts or something? I mean seriously...why not focus on the game that still has it's problems in it (IE RED/BLUE TAG BUG MORONS) and fix it before making something else. I haven't even really looked into the bf2145 or whatever it is....just because...I dont know. I might get it if I am bored, but I do not beleive it will be as fun as bf2 is. Why? because as a lot of people said, future games are blah, and why is that? because it is REALLY hard to make a game based in the future to work well, because no one likes cloaking and...crap. It may be fun in single player, but not multiplayer. Anyway, we'll have to see, but I am likely to get quake wars over the next bf2 game...I just don't like how bf2 is being controlled by a bunch of whiners....the game was fun when it came out, and it still is fun but the game has also changed a lot since it's release. If you haven't played it from the very beginning (version 1.0) then you don't have a voice in how you feel about the evolution of the game. My rant or ....whatever this is is now over...and I am going to eat my dinner and there is nothing any of you can do to stop me...SO HA....

i really dont like the idea and right now theres about a 95% chance that i wont get it just for what they have done for bf2 and sf so far its retarded like most people want infantry maps what do they do put out maps with 20 tanks per side i no sf was for infantry but they will no longer support it or do anything like there is so much more for bf2 maps vehicles armies weapons and there making some gay futer stuff what are you thinking EA/DICE

Dice never made any appologies in their comments about Tribes being their insperation for the BF franchise. Now that it's dead (thanks to VUG totally mishandling Tribes Vengance) it looks like Dice wants to do what they always wanted in the first place... put out a cool teambased sci-fi tactical FPS.

My bottom line will be "Is it fun?". If yes, I'll prolly be playin it.
