Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Small arms accuracy is 20% to 25% for most people. I think everyone would find it more satisfying to hit targets more often than once out of every four or five shots. The element randomness added into aiming in BF2 can be very frustrating. If the bullet flys in random directions - no one can compensate for it.
the guns have deviations, recoil, prone/standing/crouching modifiers, etc. this makes the game MORE fun - if the guns always shot exactly in the centre of your cursor at full-auto the game would be boring, there would hardly be any skill involved, and people would quit.
personally i think the last patch made many guns TOO accurate. it doesnt matter if the guns arent that accurate - because it is a level playing field, and everyone has access to the same weapons. someone suggested that to balance the PKM they should make all guns more accurate, my fuggin god - i hope they dont do anything like that because it would ruin the game.
getting used to different weapons, learning how to hit with them and their strenghts/limitations is what makes the game and its different classes fun. if every gun is made super-accurate it will instantly ruin the game.
if anything the guns are more accurate than their real-life counterparts. if you try running with an assault rifle going full-auto with a 30 round clip you probably couldnt hit a barn door. burst shooting, firing positions, etc are very important. every gun in the game - even the SMGs - can be accurate and lethal in the hands of someone who knows how to use them.
I love how 90% of these replies tell you to "learn the guns" and other retarded comments.
Listen people, the guns are crap.... you can rationalize all you want, and it doesn't change the fact that the guns are crap.
I agree 150% with the original poster... and guess what, I have ZERO PROBLEM owning the sh*t out of people in BF2. I consistently score between 80-120 pts per round, and I receive the gold almost every single round, unless I happen to be fooling around with my friends.
This game is not too hard for me. I don't have a hard time killing people. But that doesn't mean that I can't complain that the guns suck big time.
If the guns were made more accurate, like the PKM has been made recently..... I would finish each round of Karkand with a 50/5 ratio regardless of what gun I use. As of now, I finish with about 35/10, still good, but could be much better if the guns actually worked.
I'm so sick of people on this forum acting like they are so amazing that none of the game's problems affect them.

so basically you want more accurate weapons so you can have a 50:5 ratio as opposed to a 35:10?
man, im not even going to start in on how stupid that is.. im too tired and youre not worth my time.
but you do seem to have missed a significant fact: that when YOU get your super-accurate weapons, so does everyone else. the gap between newbies and skilled players immediately gets smaller as well, since now any noob can go full-auto with any weapon and score kills.
the only people whose kill:death ratios would improve from more accurate weapons are noobs. their joy would be pretty short-lived, however, when they realised that they were playing a game devoid of skill, style or below-the-surface challenge.
why not spare us your brilliant ideas and go play counterstrike instead? kthx.

Kinda like the rest of your post, eh?
Chummer, it's a game with it's own mechanics. The point is to make it balanced within itself, not in compairson with whatever else you might want to bring up.
Learning and dealing with the system as it's in place is a big part of playing any game. Saying "all the guns suck" it perty arffing meaningless, since if all of them suck equally they are balanced within the design of the game.
Make sence?
No?
Didn't think so.
BTW, if ever gun was ramped up, you'd get nailed by 'em just as much in terms or KDR. You are not a unique snowflake, nore are you a master of the all things cyber-gun releated.
Bottom line: If you hate the mechanics, play something else.
Your reply is so wrong, it's almost unbelievable to me that someone could have this opinion.
The simple fact is, you don't have good aim, and don't know what effect perfect accuracy would have, because you and you're ****ty aim wouldn't benefit from it.
Let me make this real simple for you. Let's take what's called a hitscan weapon, from another game. In case you don't know, hitscan means perfect accuracy, it hits where you aim, every time. For the sake of familiarity, we'll choose the railgun from Q3.
Now, let's assume there is 32 players, with a bell curve of skill. Equal amount of noobs, to pros.
Under your logic, you could throw these 32 players into a SHOTGUN ONLY server, and the noobs would have less of a chance of killing people. This is what BF2 is currently like.
Also under your logic, you could throw these same 32 players into a RAILGUN ONLY server, and the noobs would perform BETTER???????
Anybody who has ever played Q3 knows that this logic is completely and utterly ridiculous. In a railgun only server, noobs stand ZERO chance of performing well. Hitscan weapons LENGTHEN the skill gap, because they are harder to MASTER. As opposed to shotguns, where you just aim in the general area and hope for the best.
If the BF2 guns were more accurate, my K would go up, because I have great aim, and the rest of the noobs K would go DOWN, because I would shoot them in the FACE, before they have a chance to do anything other than spray bullets in every direction.
Clearly you're a gaming nub, and know nothing about skill.
But because even if you have skill, its harder than it should be to hit a running target over 50m away.
the only person who has the right to make such a statement is someone who has successfully, and consistently, killed running targets at 50m with weapons such as the MP5, AK, M16, etc.
if you have, i will stfu immediately.
otherwise i think such a statement is erroneous.
ive never fired military assault rifles, but i have used hunting rifles extensively - and something like a heavy-barreled .204 ruger is far more accurate and forgiving than most military firearms. it takes a skilled shot to hit a moving target, let alone in the heat of battle. if every soldier did as well on the battlefield as they did in BF2 our conflicts would be far more clearcut.
if you are arguing from the point of realism, most RL soldiers die not having hit anything, not with 50:1 kill ratios. if anything, the guns in BF2 are too accurate.

Are you replying to me?
Because the guns are fine, and I have plenty of skill.
I hit plenty of guys over 50m with alot of things other than sniper rifles (and sniper rifles too).
Im just saying that in real life and in other games, the guns are more accurate in general.
Using any gun on semi auto is almost dead accurate out to over 100M....I was not trying to say it is too hard to hit people in this game.
the only person who has the right to make such a statement is someone who has successfully, and consistently, killed running targets at 50m with weapons such as the MP5, AK, M16, etc.
Ok, well I have.
Anyways read what I wrote above. The guns are fine in the game im not complaining, but in real life....its differnet.
