I feel your pain, I had the same learning curve, and am still learning. I play alot of FPS and I like to think I'm a pretty good shot. Most FPS I play, with a rifle or like, I can lead targets and engage in near CQB with deadly accuracy. BF2, I can't. I can't lead targets and pick 'em off like I can in other FPSs. I am not saying this is a fault of BF2 "yet", but it's a different gamestyle that I'm still not 100% comfortable with.

However, if I ever feel I'm being outgunned and feel that my BF2 is not up to par, I just fire up CoD2 with my Kar98 and let loose. Not to draw any distinction between the two, but it just makes me feel better. :)

Everyone had to go through the phase in the beginning of "Omfg the guns suck like hard!!1!1!1one!!!" ect ect... just practice the guns on single player and you'll get used to them...

As soon as you said the guns suck I stopped reading.

First of all they dont suck, there is now a fire mode selector, so you can get accurate shots in semi auto mode, not blasting full auto across a field.

And I think the reason for this is so people dont get totally mauled in one split second when they encounter someone else. It gives people a chance to react and may not be as realistic or whatever, but its better being able to get away, rather than spawning and just getting killed instantly.

Actually most of the bullets missing is very realistic. It´s just fact that stress,adrenaline and the possibility to really get hurt lets people "aim a bit less well" in a firefight than on the range.
Although you gotta take it with a grain of salt, there´s a reason why it´s often said that 50000 (or 250000 or.. whatever) small arms rounds were expended per killed enemy in vietnam.

I don't count a gun having such a deviation at 30 feet that you can be 45 degrees or more off your target and still have a decent chance of hitting them as deadly, I simply call it retarded.

The PKM long-ranged rifle is the exception though post-1.2 :p

I have no issues with the carbines or the assault rifles, and my accuracy numbers and K/D don't lie - and I'm not even one of the better players. What are you guys doing wrong?

Make a FRAPS video of yourself playing a round of Karkand - use all of the guns that you think suck, and show us your experiences. I'll be able to offer more insight/advice after that.

Guns dont aim by themselves and everyone is using the same weapons so its not guns its whoever is pointing and aiming them....

its not like u have a pistol all the time and the other guy has a howitzer all the time cmon play and learn

Everyone is using the same weapons but in BF2 your enemies are always more accurate. BF2 is some kind of physics nexus or something.

Have been playing for about 3 weeks. It is just a game and is far from real combat. The sniper rifles at the lower levels are just ****-poor. Why not a good sight instead of iron sights for them ? I can only hope that more patches make it better. I had played Black Hawk Down for a long time, so it will take some adjustment. I have several gripes..bunny hopping....massive spawn killing....peeps who jump in a vehicle or chopper and leave every one else behind...being a few feet away and not killing someone...
apparently proning somehow gives you more accuracy ( note the weapons don't know where you are ! LOL ) .. some maps that seemingly are only for vehicles and not enough of them are available....There should be more maps like Karkand, so that doesn't become so 24/7...
I have noticed that shooting someone in the legs is a quicker kill than in the chest...body armor I suppose...

In case you are wondering, yes, I was in Vietnam, in combat. from Nov. 1969 - Nov 1970, with the 25th Inf. Div. on a APC behind a .50 cal. MG...

if you think the guns suck, its because you suck. the guns are extremely deadly, except for the pistol and maybe MP5.

really, i dont know what kind of instant kill mod you played for BF42 instead.... i played the sweet star wars one, bf pirates and desert combat and FH, and NONE of them had ANYWHERE NEAR as DEADLY GUNS AS BF2!

in short, the starter of this thread is an idiot!

as a real soldier you probably know that proning gives you more accuracy. After hearing your comment about proning I seriously had doubt about your military service.

As the luck of the draft would have it, I fought in a war where the enemy was rarely seen, and everyone mostly fired full auto all the time...so I really don't know about the proning argument in real combat. Yes, I can see where you could be more accurate, but it seems the game is a little more biased in that regard.

yes, the M-16s were full auto then..I only fired short burts on the .50 cal becuase of heat and burnt out barrels..only had a 100 round box..

It not the BF2 guns suck. It's just guns act differently in different games. Drop the realistic craps here.

In Battlefield Vietnam, it only takes 2 good body hits to kill. So the campers who fire first win 99% of the fight. To me, it's very boring to see a FPS game this way.

It's impossible to make every player happy. That's why there're different games and patchES. If the BF2 guns "suck" to you, they "suck to all the players too. Nobody has the edge. Just have fun kid or play other game.
