I don't really understand what all the fuss is about. The only increase in kills I've noticed is because of the jump/fire change it's easier to shoot people since they aren't hopping around like crazy. I wonder if most of the complainers are just bunny hoppers or dolphin divers who have been nerfed?
well to be honest if you haven't noticed a big difference with the PKM then you cant be that good at infrantry combat...the PKM is an assault weapon now. The people that are complaining are doing so not because they get owned by the PKM, its because its not balanced against the other guns. I can easily mow down tons of enemy troops at all ranges with it.

we dont all play karkand only...check my stats i play all maps. Of course it is not going to be as useful on maps where everyone is in a tank as firing your PKM at a tank wont kill it (maybe in the next patch it will heh), but for infrantly combat the PKM is overpowered.

Same goes for claymores, the new rifle and improved sniper accuracy means that there are way more snipers about so you are more likely to be killed with a claymore.

Pre 1.03 it was blackhawks, then pre 1.2 it was attack helos and jets. If the noobs keep moaning eventually BF2 will be a knives-only infantry only game, with no weapons or vehicles whatsoever. Then noobs will moan that the knife is way too powerful.
what stupid posts....the PKM is going to be more used in infrantry maps as its overpowered in infrantry combat. Sweetmate you really need to actually read the posts in this thread and try to understand the facts. Once the game is balanced 90% of people will stop complaining.

yup and now everyone on karkand are support or snipers for the over powered gun and 5 impossible to get past claymores....what a fun map with balance among the classes that is.

I like the idea of a delay going prone or your accuracy being effected by the change to prone. Maybe they could add some wobble to simulate the hard breathing from the dive. However, I do believe the accuracy should stay.

With the 36e I will put 6/9 bullets into a support guy at close range sometimes before he can hit me, and mostly before he can kill me. Then I will throw myself a medic bag.

                      Exactly.

This argument is getting a little old.

Want to know how to fix this issue immediately? Change this:

                        PKM [ (0.1 * 3.0) + (0) ] * (1) + [0 * 1] = 0.30 Deviation
                        PKM [ (0.1 * 0.8) + (0) ] * (1) + [0 * 1] = 0.08 Deviation

                        To this:

                        PKM [ (0.3 * 3.0) + (0) ] * (1) + [0 * 1] = 0.90 Deviation
                        PKM [ (0.3 * 0.8) + (0) ] * (1) + [0 * 1] = 0.24 Deviation

All of a sudden, no more sniper accuracy while prone! No more assault rifle accuracy while standing! This makes the PKM and MG36 like the default LMGs. I like how everyone who keeps saying that this is the way it should be and how support is perfect now never mentions the M249. ONLY the PKM and MG36. I honestly don't know what DICE was smoking when they decided on these figures, but how some people can sit there and claim these numbers are perfectly balanced the way they are just baffles me. Yes, the LMGs in 1.12 were inaccurate. Yes, they needed a boost. A boost; not 8 times the accuracy. For all of you who say support is fine the way it is and shouldn't be changed, go back to using the RPK/Type-95/M249. That's what support is meant to be. It amazes me how some people simply skirt past the facts, the figures, the numbers, etc. that completely dictate to utmost correctness how overpowered these two guns, PKM espeically, are.

Oh, and to anyone using the 'LMGs are very accurate IRL' argument, I leave you with this:

IRL you don't take a .50 cal anti material rifle round to the head, or hell almost ANYWHERE, and live to tell about it.
IRL ARs are more accurate than carbines
IRL you don't go over to someone with a gunshot wound to the head, click some defibrillators, and voilà! He's back as good as new
IRL you don't see someone carrying around bags of ammo that can refill both 9mm pistol ammo and 125mm tank cannon rounds
IRL jets aren't on the runway for any private to just walk over to it and take off flying
IRL once you're shot in the leg you don't just run off to find the nearest medic, in fact you don't RUN anywhere
IRL once you die, you don't get to respawn

...should I continue? Do I have to? This game is not about realism, it's about balance. A realistic game does not always equal fun because it could be unbalanced. As of now, the PKM issue is unbalanced. I honestly don't see what's so hard to grasp about it.

Oh yeah, and if you think this is a Karkand-only issue, you're kidding yourself. Yes, it's probably most predominant on Karkand because that's such a popular map and most fights are infantry fights, but this issue presents itself on every map. Clean Sweep, Kubra, Songhua...I've been PKMed/MG36ed more times on these maps in the last two weeks than I probably had ever prior to 1.2. Sure, at least in those maps you can grab tanks or APCs to get rid of them, but that doesn't change the underlying issue. Once you get out of your vehicle, the PKM will slaughter whatever weapon you have.

LMGs are supposed to be powerful and they're supposed to make you keep your head down or mow down people in short range, medium range, and even a bit beyond that, which the defaults do (yes, the defaults, you guys remember those, right?) just swimmingly. The unlocks can do that and so much more to the point where no other gun is necessary.

Oh, and regarding the issue with the PKM being horrible while moving, yes, that's true, but how many other guns are accurate while moving? The only time you fire while moving is when you're right on top of the guy, in which case the PKM is still going to hit its target. Any other time, people with the other guns like carbines or ARs will still drop prone, or crouch, and at the very least stop moving and stare down the ironsights to get a steady aim on someone. PKMers can do this just as well as any other trooper, and in almost every case, better.

                        ~Wolfgang

Now there's a useless post! It's not overpowered, because if you don't like it, you can use it!

If a player with a PKM rounds a corner and sees you, he should'nt be able to dive into third base like Pete Rose and start firing automatically. There should be a delay in going prone, so that by doing it you really commit yourself to that position. Bottom line is that Support Class is not a run and gun type position. Make going prone take up to one second so there's that slight delay. This way if you're laying in wait in the prone position then you should reap the rewards for your commitment to that position and if you round the corner against a spec ops guy then you reap the bad fruit for your poor decision to run and gun with the wrong class.
No. Support got the accuracy buff because it couldn't compete long-range at all, it got overbuffed in that regard, now you want to change it so it can't compete close-range at all? Only thing it needs is to be brought down to AR-level accuracy again.

They already gave you half of the nerf you wanted, standing up from prone prevents you from firing.

If you've ever tried shooting a target with the PKM while running, they have to be like 3ft away from you or half of the bullets will miss. Play Songhai Stalemate, you'll see this all the time.

Why not show the calculations for the third shot, which is the minimum number to kill an armored, healthy target with PKM? Also, mention is made using the PKM in single shot mode...pop...pop...pop. Anyone KNOW what the minimum time is between shots for the deviations to reset to first shot? It seems to me too many conclusions are being reached based on single shot accuracy.

I know you don't play on Karkand 24/7 Leki, but a lot of people here do who are talking about it being overpowered. Try surviving on a level like Songhua or Dragon Valley and getting massive kills the the MG and you won't unless you are good. The problem is, these noobs play karkand 24/7 and they still don't get that you have to take cover on those kinds of maps. Stop charging down an alley blindly and maybe you won't get slaughtered as much. The only reason support gets a large number of kills on Karkand is because idiots run across the street blindly instead of running from cover to cover with a squad. Maybe if you guys would stay in a squad it wouldn't happen purhapse?

I think too many of you lone wolf too which will get you killed by the weapon easily as well unless you are either skilled, or have good cover which obviously you guys always neglect. Stop proning out in the open against an MG and maybe you would have a chance.

And trust me, don't say one weapon is better then another because someone who can actually use the guns correctly will kill you everytime with a weapon other then the support. I kill fine with the assualt on any level, so it is far from inferior compared to the support.

Get your asses off Karkand and play the whole game and you will see a different experience or maybe get some skill so you would have a chance on Karkand instead of picking sniper like everyone else on the map and trying to stand up against a support.

You can throw all the stats, figures, and other sh*t in here all you want, but that won't help you in the game. Fact is, most people just suck as this game and then they try to find a scientific way why they were killed, back it up with useless facts which change constently in game, and then actually get support from people here which is hilarious.

Songua actually gets plenty of it, especially with the countless hills overlooking points. There are more maps than Karkand too, Mashtuur, Sharqi, even Gulf of Oman gets PKM sniping when two points on the beach are being fought over.
