After plenty of hours of practice, the PKM owns if you know how to use it. You be prone and single shot or few shot bursts. You will not lose. However I get my azz handed to me almost everytime Im in close combat if Im not ready for it...ie running into trouble. The PKM sucks when you are standing up. So it can surely be beat. It is not overpowered, you just need to pick your battles.

After the 1.2 patch, I have used it much more. I pick off snipers and people far away all the time with just a couple shots. I love sniping pesky snipers with it. I think its funny

Before the patch my average game with the PKM would be about 13 kills 18 deaths

1st game after the patch I get around 20 kills and 10 death... I get about that most games now...

I didn't get "skilled" the gun got better

the gun did get better, because it used to suck so much before.

I used PKM exclusively prepatch and can get score like 40-10, but now I can get 17-0

You have just convinced me of my next unlock (I have one saved) I need to get my time up on support too.

To stop the Rambo action, would it be an idea to have to wait 2-3 seconds to deploy the machine guns prone? As you flick out the bipod on the front and settle in for a burst. Might sound daft but these are support weapons so are usually set up to help support assualts/defense and not really assualt rifles. So the Rambos will have to run up to a flag, find a good support spot, set up the gun and shoot to support the squad (well those who work with one, not many I know). Not too bothered then if they are great at spraying bullets too accurately as they will have to be used with a bit of skill (or thought at least).

You're not thinking this over very well. Rambo action? In close-quarters combat, where there are things to duck around constantly, having a delay for prone readiness would be utterly ridiculous. You'd be dead before you could ever fire the first shot, EVERY TIME.

There is no problem with this "Rambo action" because EVERY OTHER KIT CAN DO IT! AT can do it. Engineer can do it. Medics can do it. Being unable to do it would mean all you could ever do was sit out in a well-exposed spot and be a turret, a.k.a. sniper bait. Could you guys please start coming up with solutions to this that don't involve nerfing the kit into uselessness?

I'm one of those who hopes the power of the support weaps doesn't get nerfed again in the next patch. However, I do support this kit taking longer to prep to fire once going prone. The gun is heavy and bipod supported so once you are on the ground and set it should be very accurate. It should be moderately accurate when standing, although I'm fine with assault rifles being better (maybe significantly better) when standing or crouching.

That way, you can fire on the run with some effectiveness, although you're not as effective as an assault trooper. You can crouch fire as well. However, once you go prone it takes a short while before you're ready to fire, since then you get the extra accuracy as a bonus.

So the support trooper should go prone quickly, like everyone else, but the gun should take a short while (maybe a second or two as suggested earlier) before it will fire, to simulate the setting up of the bipod or whatever. Then you get your top accuracy.

You play on only 64 player servers you will find that support won't only get the top spots. And if I played against a support that was my own skill level and he went prone on me 5 feet away, I would either sprint and run circles around him and shoot him while he is busy spinning around or hop over his body and get behind him since I consider that fair since he is proning, I will just do a little hop over him.

And when support goes prone, it exposes their head which makes it easy for headshots. I don't know who you are playing against, but I wouldn't get easily outsmarted by a support guy who was just spamming nades and sit there. I would shoot him while he is nading.

Like I said before, doesn't matter if Karkand is an infantry map really, it is just that the players are too stupid to not run down the alley with the MG down it. It is like second nature to them now and it just feeds the MG. No gun is overpowered in this game, it is just the players are have poor skill level/training, and don't always use common sense.

Instead of using some good cover or instaproning against a support, he could be shooting at him or running to that cover to get a better shot from.

You guys are making a bigger deal out of this then it really it. The MG does its job which is suppressing fire and if you are not scared of an MG, how is it suppose to do its job? And if you are in a good squad, you won't let one guy with an MG get you. You should also have one in your squad.

No one will ever stop complaing. This community b*tches more then any other probably and they can't just except the game until we all have knifes or something. There are only a few problems now like the claymores, print screenshot, and sniper accuracy. The MG could be toned down a little, but it is fine now since it does it job. If everyone keeps compling, it will be worse then pre 1.2 and won't scare anyone like it did then. People would charge the MGs before, but they actually have to be careful now.
what i'm trying to say is if i could create a double of me and play against myself then the one with the PKM would win more times overall. its not that players on karkand are stupid and keep running down allys its the fact that i can take them out at close/medium/long range with the PKM with just a few shots as its very accurate, does high damage and has no real recoil.

i dont use it for suppressive fire i use it for assault and it works better than the assault guns as the stats prove. Sure i agree support was a crap before 1.2 but now its a bit too good....if they toned the PKM and MG36 down a bit...maybe changed the 0.1 deviation to 0.3 like the other support guns as someone sugested it might make it more balalenced.

how many threads have you seen lately on people complaing about bunny hopping noob tubers killing them?...none....but we have plenty on claymores and support as its not balanced, once those have been sorted it will cut down complaints.

Yes changing the min dev from 0.1 to 0.3 would be the quickest and simplest way to balance the two unlocks with the regular support guns. If there's going to be a fix in the 1.21 patch, I imagine this would be the route that DICE might take. Anything larger and more complicated will have to wait till 1.3 ...
