Its all dependent on the situation, i.e. how much AA is used...

Look dude I know how to fly choppers, check my stats if don't believe me.

I get low, get behind buildings, hit flares...etc....doesn't matter when AA missiles are taking NINETY DEGREE TURNS!!!

I mean...wtf...

maybe it's time to go back to single player and practice again, "expert" pilot.

No offense, but I don't care what your stats looked like before the patch. AA missiles simply didn't work pre-patch. I'll admit the missiles are a little screwy now and turn pretty quickly, but choppers aren't useless as you claim. Adapt and overcome, or shutup and go home.

PlaneWhore suggested in planetbattlefield forums that DICE makes the AA repairable instead of automaticly respawning after a preset amount of time. I like that idea. I hope DICE will consider this suggestion seriously.

Repairable AA is an excellent idea!!! It would give a little balance to the AA, add realism, and give the engineers another thing to repair! Engineers REALLY need more stuff to repair since it is soo hard to get repair points.

all this patch did was change a pilots targets... before i used to circle around and when my clanmate spotted an enemy vehicle i'd swoop in and destroy it for him. Now i just rack up the kills from hitting the AA sites, hell the AA sites are the easiest form of pointfarming i've seen yet, just set up w/ a sniper and when someone runs up to the AA put one through his head.

what i don't understand is why you should have to be a VETERAN pilot to survive, when anyone can get in a tank and dominate (i suck at tanks and APC's but every time i die i manage at least 3-5 kills before i die, ten kills is easy). Whats so different between shooting an AT rocket at a tank, doing about 2 damage and then having it basically look at you then die of fear. Or locking up a plane, having it evade and then having him kill you because you wanted to try to give him trouble. Maybe its time to complain about tanks because they make ground pounding difficult... hell EA may just make the AT rocket a one hit kill.

Oh well, its fun getting a squad to go around terrorizing AA sites, lots of points to.

Let me tell you something about Single Player Oh The WiseOne.

I was without the internet for 2 weeks so I though "hey, I suck at choppers, might just try it out". 2 weeks of hardcore flying got me this.

-I dont crash into trees anymore, do crash into land sometimes
-I dont suck with the FFARs anymore, am not as lethal as some though
-STILL cant do complex maneuvers, such as spinning around a flagpost while holding the altitude
-I give the copilot his time for TVGMs
-I TOTALLY still suck at helo vs helo
-I STILL got hit (1.12) with AA and .50 cal had me for breakfast

So- all in all- during the "training" I ONLY got better in keeping the chopper airbourne and stable. I DIDNT learn anything else. PLEASE dont send people to play SP. SP NEVER racks skills as MP does. This comes from a guy who tried to play SWAT4 SP where bots have the utmost deadly accuracy with the first shot. 1 shot = 1 kill.

Now, jet flight is even more ridiculous in SP.


Oh and about the whining pics. I remember a lot of infantry people run around the boards and whine. Most of the decent pilots gave them TIPS on how to get better instead of being pricks.

Ok, all this talk of realism is making me laugh. People saying it's not "real" that planes destroy eachother immediately. Have you ever flown a plane? Ever known someone who has? I have 2 friends that are both fighter pilots and I can tell you with the utmost confidence that half the time they don't even see the planes. The modern US missles have such a range they can destroy their target before they see it. Why do you think America dominates the air? Everyone knows the US flies in illegal airspace, we used to get caught regularly, how come we're never shot down? Because they know we'd retaliate with the fury of hell spearheaded by their ex-girlfriends. In REAL LIFE the first plane with a lock wins. Do missiles take 90degree turns? No, but US carriers don't park 3/4 of a mile off shore and repair/refuel/resupply planes as they fly over the deck either. These changes have nothing to do with real, they are balance issues. Pilots can still get the scores they used to, but they have to be good and have some luck on their side. Honestly, Tanks and Aircraft are fun but I don't think the 6 people in them should be having more fun than the other 58 people on the server. If the nerfs p*ss you off that sux, but you are in the extreme minority and successful games hinge on pleasing the majority.

My god, dogfighting is really fun now. Getting a lock on tone does NOT mean you're dead...it just means you aren't flying hard enough. Last night I managed to get a gold medal and a positive K as a co-pilot in the SU-34 on Oman. The AA sites were always active but my pilot just used the cannons and, gasp, dodged the missles. The next round I did the same for him, didn't have much trouble with the F-35s or AA. If these "hotsh*t" pilots would have spent more time learning how to dodge missles properly before 1.2 (not just turning left and right and bombing) they might have found the path to being happy flying. All I can say is just keep flying and you'll start to learn...that goes for you too Planewhore. I can only assume you're reading all these forums so COME ON, stop fishing for sympathy for something so stupid and mediocre. Bombing airfields did NOT make you, or anyone else, a good pilot. Just open up your mind and adapt instead of saying that this is the end of BF2 and everyone should follow you to another game.

If a newbie can shoot you down you are not "acting your skill", AA sites can be gunned down from range, you can avoid them, you can pop flares when fired upon, still around when they lost their effect? you are doing something wrong again.

Flying over a manned AA site is asking to be shot, now you GET shot, you get your 4 tactical nukes with 2 second reload and 10 second turnaround time, we get guided missles. You get guided one-hit-kills-all missles, we get guided AA missles.

I'm kicking butt in a plane still with the new AA and all went 31-1 (Wake Island) and the 1 death was from a artillery hit ( fluke ). So whoever is making threads on overpowered AA doesn't have the pilot skills to fly

If you don't have the intellect or the will to respond to my perfect arguments for why im an expert pilot in the other thread...then...go screw yourself if you can't actually respond to points and all you can do is flame.....

Not to mention that other guy vouched for my skill.

I mean if you are worse than me in a chopper then you have no right to insult me and certainly no right to judge my skill....if you take into account you've never seen me play...

Yeah but for choppers (thats what im talking about here) anyone with an IQ of 10 can hop in a vodnik and shoot down a 1.12 chopper, it took very little skill.

Now it takes zero skill to use AA...

And if something is unbalanced im not going to shut up and go home and not play the game anymore. Maybe YOU are satisfied with dumbed down games that are suited to people with no skill...but im not.
