I also think you should spend a little more time in the planes before you bitch about them... Walk a little in a jet pilots shoes instead of just sitting there saying they are the uber whatever

Well, i think the uber part is pretty much obvious, look at the points and amount of deaths dedicated pilots get, no matter how good some-one is, in comparison. 200 points and 0 deaths is nothing but rediculous. Its not that the planes are uber, there is just nothing decent to counter them with unless one feels like joining the planecamping tk party on the airfield.

All to often I see planes sitting in hangers...And in todays modern combat it is more likely for planes to take on planes then for planes to deal with AA...

I guess some of you just cant grasp the idea a plane is the powerhouse of the modern military and adds another level to this game...

I only see about 2 people in hear that think planes are overpowerd and are ruining this game and at that I only see one who actually thinks it's ruining the game...

Oh and you have "0" hours in a plane.... I love how these people with no time in a plane say how easy it is....LOL...please the "Uber" pilots you see have probably been playing as pilots since BF42....

I just do not see where the Airpower is sooooooooo over powered that it ruins the game...

I have yet to see a jet killed by SAMs. They heal/rearm by flying over any air field. Targets are circled. Their only threat is other jets.

If there is no way for ground pounders to kill jets then the game is not balanced. Ground pounders are just targets for the fly boys.

No kidding really....This whole balance thing is something you made up in your head....EA should have never mentioned anything about it since people think balance is a guy with small arms having the capability to take out everything in the game....

i prefer to fly, just because I LIKE TO FLY. i aint no jet whore. if my team has pilots more skilled then me, i let them to the work. if not, i ask for a run or try to "steal" a jet from them once they get shot down, or fly into the ground. but flying and bombing to me aint so frickin easy.

i sometimes really have a hard time bombing cp's and even more trying to engage an enemy jet. you cant see them in your jet, ive played entire rounds on wake in a jet without ever seeing my enemy or having an enemy jet on my ass.

it is still a matter of skill. does your team get its ass kicked bacause of enemy air superiority? then get better pilots. BF2 still is supposed to be a computer game version of a realistic modern war. and there still goes the rule, may the best man win. in this case, may the best team win.

and hey, its a war out there.
and remember lifes rule number one

You see this is the problem alot of you guys fail to understand. This is not a war. Its a game........about war. However it is a game. Please try to understand this when responding with words that dont make sense.
And the best team might have won, if the AA was worth 50% more then its current, 20%...and thats being generous.
Come on, pilots that own pilots, the elite of the elite pilots, will say that yes, the AA is pretty much worthless. If the AA was better, the games mechanics would change somewhat. In that you certainly wouldnt see lamos attacking a flag in a bomber, in a dumb way..IE lazily comming straight into a flag, and dropping 5 cluster bombs. No...you wouldnt see that, cuz you'd see pieces of the plane in the air, as the 2nd AA hit it.
I for one dont care either way...but i gotta say, anyone here that believes the airplanes are NOT OUT OF WACK in relation to the other part of the game............well, they are mental......or have no common sense.

At it's core, any game has to have balance. If it's a fantasy game and a mage has an invincible spell, all players want to be mages. In BF2, it's jets.

Everything has been done to make flying jets easier. At the sacrifice of game balance. They do not need to land and can be armed/resupplied by flying over any airfield.

The only effective counter for jets are jets. AA is more likely to hit a teammate than actually kill an enemy jet. So the ground pounders have no defence against the fly boys.

When I see players waiting by hangers for jets, it shows their inherent advantage.

Anyway, jets rule. Nothing, you or I say will change that. :cry:

I'd love to see jets have to make carrier landings.

This guy is totaly right, air power dominates the game, its been proven before. The only thing that can kill a jet is a better jet pilot. Therefore, the team with the best jet pilot controls the sky, which usually translates into control of everything else.

This is easily why city maps with no or little air power are more common and popular than maps with wide open spaces (Clean sweep) and lots of airpower.

The AA missles actually predict and seek better, but you can still avoid them just by turning as hard as the thign will turn, which is very simple for even a novice jet pilot. I don't agree with everything said here. Yet, the point about jets having to land is acceptable in mah' book. I can land a jet, and I know many other pilots can land jets... it's an acceptable tradeoff. Want more ammo, put the uber-machine on the ground (And yes Pilots, we do have the best weapon in the game... let's just admit it already. Although, one of the hardest to master and control.)

As for the A.A. being worthless, nah', I wouldn't go that far. It's much improved. Also, it throws of your perception of threats so that Enemy AirCraft can engage you with a better chance of success. You can no longer rely on your rader to locate the postion of hostile jets because it's occupied with ground A.A... That alone makes A.A. valuable. Also, the missles are now crazy fast, so, unless you're turning when A.A. is on your rear, you're gone. Oh! And Afterburners draw missles too them, so, if you flare while hittings your afterburners, there is a good chance you're still going down. It's very balanced. It takes considerable skill to perform accurate bombing runs with a fighter, and you're at a serious disadvantage with speed and agility in a bomber. I cringe at the current position of the bomber, it's at a HUGE disadvantge now against ground Anti-Air. The patch improved the speed of missles to catch fighters. Bombers are hella' slow compared to fighters... 1+1=2.. etc. etc.

I'm kinda' going in circles at this point.. but, everyone get what I'm saying? Or feel me? Either one?

I think it's time ground pounders stop complaining. I'm more of a ground pounder myself, but, jets can be defeated. It just isn't an individual effort. It takes a team to take down a skilled pilot. Now, one could argue that it takes a team to down a good pilot (3 or more players working as one), but only one good pilot to down a team. This is true, but, heck. Jets are dominate. They are supposed to be... ok, not a good finisher, but I couldn't think of anything else to end it with. I'm out! Holla'!
