To be fair to some it does. The term hacker originates from back in the day when beardie types would literally hack around with both code and hardware.

Since then it's become a hackneyed term that's applied to all technology nastiness. The reality is most of these 'hacks' are purchased and the end user does not have a modicum of tech savvy.

Sadly, it doesn't matter what program is used, people will find a way around it. I'm just glad that it is catching more of them after this last update.

Yeah I am happy its catching and such as well but this is in no way going to change my opinion on the crappy software called punkbuster. The simple fact PB causes more issues for honest people playing the game than actually catching people playing still irks me. I could go on about it just being awful but you get the point lol.

what are you running a pentium 2 with a 128 megs of memory? Pb uses about 5.2 megs of memory. Hardly a resource hog. I think that people just hate things to hate them without ever having any real reason or evidence to back up their opinions.

Wrong. PB in the past has banned people improperly.

For an example, in the summer PB released a fairly large update which in turned banned many many people. What had happened though was many were improperly banned. I had two clan mates who had to go through a whole apeal process which took over a week to just to clear their names. PB acknowledged that they were in fact inproperly banned. They were banned since they were running FRAPS in the background. PB had no evidence and the ban just appeared. Needless to say they stopped playing as their stats were wiped shortly after. They are tired of dealing with EA and PB so simply found games that didn't involve the two.

There were many posts here about people being banned and they didn't know why. I helped some of these people as they all had the same problem as my clan mates while the rest of the community called them hackers and discredited them. I know 2 or 3 of them got unbanned fine. Another 2 just gave up and quit playing the game because of it.

There were a few posts in the server admin room where several clans were reporting inproper bans. I forget who a couple of the guys were but needless to say they weren't too impressed with PB either.

PBs release of their PB services caused a rather large problem as everything from peoples firewalls, antivirus's and simple admin settings on their computer were not allowing the service to be installed. If it did get installed there was still a small chance it would run properly. People with vista still have problems to this day with it just because of the way vista handles 3rd party services.

PB this past weekend was causing many people to lag out, mainly due to the fact they couldn't download the PB update that just came out. They probably had firewall or AVs running which are ment to protect their machines from random files being downloaded to their machines. There are many many people who simply do not know how to update their PB manually and I don't blame them. The PB updates just come out unannounced and its basically a prayer that the update comes properly.

This is all with 2142. I haven't even touched BF2 and any of the other games I have the wonderful delight to deal with PB issues. lol.

tbh there needs to be more than 1 anti-cheat choice when purchasing a game but trying to convince a game developler is hard.
