People sometimes don't realize they get killed by the Voss more often because it's the most popular AR, they think it's because it's some how "better." It's merely the fault of increased mathematic probability.

Which begs the question (for most) of why it is the most popular. The fact that it is (A) the most popular assault rifle, and therefore (B) the one people are killed most by, leads logically to (C) the adoption of the weapon by future generations of players. The reason it is the most popular assault rifle is that it got a foothold after all AR deviations were reduced a couple patches ago, and as a self-perpetuating phenomenon it simply fuels itself to continue.

There is of course another reason it is the most popular assault rifle, but since I've shared it a handful of times now and no one has listened, I will refrain from aggravating my fingers :) .

However, if you had read perhaps a *tad* bit between the lines of my post you would have discovered that I believe that Voss is the most popular AR because it's the easiest to use. However, it is not the best. This is pretty much my mantra with AR's, since everyone whines that they get killed by the Voss so much. In the 2142 Pro Mod the Krylov is the MOST coveted weapon on the battlefield.

The voss takes a close second tho.

Less peeps = longer distances = Krylov Pwnage.

Anyone that has not played competitively doesn't understand the limits of each weapon.

I was going to write a long paragraph how I disagree on Diamond's thinking why the gun is popular because it clearly doesn't matter.
I just simply got few people to use different weapons other then the Voss. They did horrible. One had more deaths then kills. Comparing their scores with Voss vs. diffrent weapon amazed me. Its not skill, its the weapon.

P.S. No, practice isn't needed greatly with other weapons. They tried other weapons before, they know how the work. This is pretty much aim and click anyway. A player that uses more then one weapon (ME and many BF2142 players out there) can see that and compare why the gun is more powerful then the rest.

I myself have A LOT more practice with the LMG/HMG and Clark but when I got the hang of a the Voss (2 games) I did almost just as successfully as with the weapons that took me weeks to get good with.

You made one ENORMOUS mistake here. I'm a BAUR-PK Rocket-Defib kind of person. My Baur is my significant other, the extension of all my furious gamer rage and 1337d00d spite through a tungsten core, caseless, mid-sized cartridge propelled through the brains of hordes of combat armored madmen and heathens, with extreme prejudice and mildly insane joy. This is my rifle, this is my gun. Oorah.

Anways... yeah.

Blind? Defense? Why the heck would anyone need to defend the Voss? This assumes the Voss is either lacking or in surplus of something. Its only surplus is the amount of people using it, which != unbalanced. Just popular. The four AR's are like quarters, one from Vermont, California, Washington, and Alaska. If the California quarter is the most popular by a ration of 1000000:1, it's still only worth 25 cents. All the AR's are equal in performance at the end of all things, some are just more or less popular. Also, I defend sanity and men not crying over collections of ones and zeros and digitally rendered images. The Voss is NOT the best AR. It may be the easiest AR to pick up, but that does not make it better or worse than any AR. That's just how things are and you're going to either live with that or cry about it until you find some other game to play than BF2142 in the future -- the more rational decision, in this case, is left up completely to you. But the Voss is not better or worse than any other AR, just easier to pick up due to the obvious factors.

All of the assault rifles have their own situations where they perform the best.

Voss - Close to Medium range.
Baur - Medium to Long range.
Krylov - Close to Long range.
SCAR - Close to Long range. (Needs DICE lovin' though)

Choosing the same rifle all the time will get you owned by good assault players who are experienced enough to choose the correct rifle for the situation.

It has a surplus of range, or more to the point, damage over range, which is the only thing I want toned down.

Again, incorrect. The Voss is good at everything except long long range (on singleshot while crouched you can still fire pretty accuratly). The Baur is worse than the default rifles at close quarters. That isnt proper balance. The Voss niches overlap the Baurs.

In my experience, the best players use the most uncommon weapons.

A typically stupid comment that only stirs flame wars, the gun you use is in no way a measure of your skill level

I use the Voss beause I get lots of kills with that gun, does that make me a "noob"?
