I actually don't mind the attack helis on Sharqi because of how many humvees there are and how many places there are to hide them, and even the .50 on the tanks work fine in a pinch (although tanks are usually the first thing the gunners go for with a TV). I wouldn't have a problem with them on normal maps either were it not for the fact that if you're sitting in the gunner position in a buggy or truck you are jet pilot fodder. I actually find it a miracle when I'm able to drive from one flag to the next on most maps even in an FAV without getting vulcan-strafed or bombed before I get there. I was playing Zatar the other day, there was a smoking cobra shooting at the infantry just north of our flag, so I hop into the AA and fire immediately (as in, not even waiting for a lock), and before I can even get the second missile off, I get strafed by the F35. WAY too easy to get smeared in an AA station, especially since a jet can see you from a mile away. If AA wasn't, as someone else called it, just a suicide chair then the air balance might be fine. Unfortunately, all means of taking out a chopper usually just make you a sitting duck for jets. Thus why I thought having AT missiles do more damage to them would work.

Any one that thinks choppers are balanced, go play 2142, the air power on that game is perfectly balanced and makes bf2s look idiotic.

Ps. before people say it, I know the problems regarding eu gunship raping pac and the mess up with only 1 pac gunship spawning etc. But the point still stands, overall as an infantry or vehicle player in 2142 you actually stand a chance.

You're asking for a faster and more powerful rocket. It sure seems like it constitutes two improvements to me...

What does it matter that you can't alter the rocket's path if it's going fast enough for that not to be relevant? Then people will just rocket snipe everything, including pads.

If you're going to tell me that team play and cooperation would solve the aforementioned, you have my answer to why your proposed AT modifications are unnecessary.

Mods, seriously, just close this thread already.

So if the DICE devs increased AT rocket damage to choppers, what would you think of this?

the RPG7 in real life will destroy any tank or armour with one rocket,no ifs or buts about it.

Also in real life the attack helos have armour on the bottom enuf to take a(1) rocket but the rest of the machine is a paper mashey toy.

Seriously, I'm not repeating myself. I've made my position quite clear... and it's not at all because I'm a known chopper wh*re either.

I don't claim to know anything about military hardware, and I don't mean any offense, but there seems to be a flaw in your logic here. A RPG will destroy any tank in one hit, but somehow those tricky aircraft designers were able to give a helicopter armor strong enough to withstand a rocket? If anything you should specify which RPG variant for the first statement, and which type of rocket for the second statement.

Re: Should attack helis catch fire with 1 AT missile hit

Im no expert but ive watched doco`s on the Apatchy being built and they have a specially designed floor made from composite stuff that will take a rocket of some description(prob a stinger) but the floor is the only armour on the helo..

they prob couldnt take a RPG7 as those rockets have a massive warhead that shoots motlen copper thru over 10 inches of armour.

but you wouldnt be shooting a RPG7 at a helo unless its all you had and it wasnt in the air:salute:

I do know a RPG7(as pictured) is the king of anti tank weapons tho

Seriously the floor on the attack helo has special pockets and material(almost better than a M1) but it also has the fuel tank there that is designed to take a hit (its like a huge bladder):salute:.

i think the fuel tank that could only be fitted in the floor is the reason for such a special floor materials and air pockets.

I doubt anyone could get that close to one tho as they hunt in packs and look 5 kms ahead

RPG7 ain't gonna take out an Abrams, especially with the anti-RPG armor caging.

An RPG will not take out a well armoured tank such as a Challenger 2, Leopard or Merkava. A lot of the time the rocket deflects off armour plating or simply causes superficial damage.

It will however make a mess of small snatch Land Rovers or Humvees.

You're missing my point. It's not 2 improvements.

                              SRAW/Eryx with increased damage = 1 improvement
                              RPG with increased damage = 1 improvement, 1 trade-off

Nor will it take out a finnish AMV, one has been confirmed taking 3 RPG hits and drove back to base with only black stains on the armor.
