It's not a trade-off if the increased speed makes it so an alteration of the rocket's path becomes unnecessary.

I think you have been watching too many movies a RPG7 will go thru over 10 inches of armour (thought modern tanks are not made of just steel anymore and are a hidden secret)

It is true a cage deflects the cone shaped charge,it may also be true it wont destroy the tank but anyone inside is not going to have a great day:dead:

also yes sloped armour will help

Im not going to argue this thought as we both arent qualified on the subject

actually after searching i found the arguement of the RPG7 vs many modens tanks is quiet a good debate.both for and against:salute:

in short the answer is maybe it will maybe it wont depending on area hit:salute:

You do realize that it is likely that soldiers died in the scene of the picture you posted? Maybe you should treat it with a little more respect rather than "mess lol. this picture comes to mind". Poor taste dude, poor taste.

and no disrespect but it looks more like IED which is the same tech as RPG7( a cone shaped charge)

Respect goes two ways also when talking about Iraq soldier too

there is no way to know that anyone died or was harmed. perhaps no one was. I was lolling at alex's choice of words, not at what happened.

I would venture a guess that it's more unlikely a parked jeep was hit by a rocket/bomb, but that's just me :)

Yes, it is possible to destroy one, but you do have to hit a weak part. Modern tanks are very well armoured. I'm not saying an RPG wouldn't do anything, it would make a fairly big dent (to put it lightly).

But an RPG usually wouldn't disable a tank outright.

The eryx/sraw rockets are slow as **** if you haven`t noticed. A bloody 203 nade flies faster.

If they increased the speed slightly, then I`d agree with one hit kill/crit.

they prob couldnt take a RPG7 as those rockets have a massive warhead that shoots motlen copper thru over 10 inches of armour.

but you wouldnt be shooting a RPG7 at a helo unless its all you had and it wasnt in the air:salute:

I do know a RPG7(as pictured) is the king of anti tank weapons tho

Seriously the floor on the attack helo has special pockets and material(almost better than a M1) but it also has the fuel tank there that is designed to take a hit (its like a huge bladder):salute:.

i think the fuel tank that could only be fitted in the floor is the reason for such a special floor materials and air pockets.

I doubt anyone could get that close to one tho as they hunt in packs and look 5 kms ahead
Are you aware of what happened at Mogadishu (Of Black Hawk Down fame)?

In Iraq, they used to just fire anything from pistols, AK's, RPG's... everything. Hell, they'd throw shoes if they went high enough!

In Iraq they used swarming and countered a couple of dozen apaches by just firing AK's, bringing a few down forcing others to retreat.

Um, I thought one Apache came down and that was due to technical issues. The Iraqi media then claimed a farmer with an AK had shot it down.

Same in Afghan, a British Chinook came down with technical issues, Taliban tried to claim it as shot down, so the British blew it up to stop technology getting into the wrong hands. That was only a week or two ago.
