Should attack helis catch fire with 1 AT missile hit

Um, I thought one Apache came down and that was due to technical issues. The Iraqi media then claimed a farmer with an AK had shot it down.
Same in Afghan, a British Chinook came down with technical issues, Taliban tried to claim it as shot down, so the British blew it up to stop technology getting into the wrong hands. That was only a week or two ago.
No, one Apache was shot down because it was hit in the fuel system. The rest 30 Apaches were damaged as well and the unit wasn't capable for fighting for 3 days. It was the only unsuccesful operation in the war.

I do know a RPG7(as pictured) is the king of anti tank weapons tho
Seriously the floor on the attack helo has special pockets and material(almost better than a M1) but it also has the fuel tank there that is designed to take a hit (its like a huge bladder):salute:.
Just no....
RPG is certainly not the best anti tank weapon, or the king or whatever. Where you got that from I do not know. Films maybe?
And again, if you think the Apache has better or almost better armour than a M1 tank that is many tons heavier....
Yes, the blades and cockpit are designed to take up to 23mm cannon hits but anything bigger is going to be a bad day.
Oh, and Stinger/AA missiles in general >>>> RPGs for shooting down helis.
Re: Should attack helis catch fire with 1 AT missile hit
Best way to bring down enemy planes flying low is by a flock of suicidal geese or pigeons.
Fly into their engine and see how well they fare then.
ON TOPIC: Due to the limitness of BF2 chopper comparing to the BF2142 gunship; I don't think one AT hit on helicopter should bring it down or set it on fire.
Jets are there to take out helicopters in BF2, whereas in BF2142, gunship is the only weakness of another gunship. So any engineer rocket will set a BF2142 flying armor on fire. BF2 helicopters, I would consider nerfed if it were to be on fire after one hit; reason is they do not have much manuverability compare to jets; nor do they have great altitude climb rate. Their speed isn't too much to boost either. So if a good jet pilot or chopper pilot can bring the annoying fly down.
I understand getting repeated killed by the TV or railgun is frustrating, but just pray you have a decent Jet pilot or arm chopper pilot on your side.

I m a retired veteran BF2142 gunship wh0re.
Well it's practically impossible to hit a chopper even at point blank range, as my team discovered last night while being pummeled through the lift bay on Iron Gator last night.
Re: Should attack helis catch fire with 1 AT missile hit
Also remember that the gunships in 2142 aren't even close to as powerful as the helis in BF2, especially where ground vehicles are concerned. In BF2142, ground armour (anything but the fast movers) has active defense shields which can stop a TV missile, and the missile itself only brings the ground armour down to 10% health so there's still time for the engineer to get out and fix it or at least abandon it. In addition, there's the SAAW anti-air weapon, the Rorsch Kz-27 stations which are sufficiently armoured (and won't get strafed by jets the second someone hops into one unlike BF2's stinger/IGLA), and the walker AA. Plus since ground vehicles aren't instantly destroyed by TV missiles someone in the top gun of a tank or walker can fight back with reasonable effectiveness without getting instantly killed by the heli gunner.
BF2142 and BF2 are completely different animals with respect to air power.
