I've never tried soloing out of general principle, nor I ever will. It's just selfish and arogant, and goes against the concept of teamplay, and teamplay is what bf2 should be all about. If I don't have a gunner when I take off, I don't mind landing somewhere to pickup a random gunner. Considering that when I fly solo I'm limited only to my hydras, any gunner for me would be better than no gunner. No matter how terrible is the gunner, he doesn't obstruct me from using my rockets, and he can still hit something by accident.

Last time I checked it was DICEs campaign. If you are gullible enough to buy it, you deserve to be redlined.

People seem to forget that what they are passionate about, will be exploited to the max. Infantry players cry foul but they only play Karkand. Its essentially the same thing.

Last time I checked it was DICEs campaign. If you are gullible enough to buy it, you deserve to be redlined.

You mean the generalisation of hairly looking stupid gremlins under one hat? Why not? Pilots exploit their tools, tankers theirs, infantry theirs. Guess who is on the bottom of the food chain and bitches the most?

The case for teamwork has already been made in favor of soloing. Why are people still bringing up the "random two-man > soloer" myth?

A lot of you complain there is no teamwork.

Let me complain about teamwork in a chopper. I point my random gunner i picked up to shoot his TV at the opposing attack chopper. What does he do? He fires the chain gun. What happens? We die from the TV of the opposing chopper. Why did we die? Teamwork.

A counter-case, in the same spirit as djk12587.

I fly away from the helipad alone, ignoring the repeated requests for a ride. I point myself at the opposing attack chopper and immediately fire my TV. What does this accomplish? I destroy it and proceed to my next target, facilitating the capture of flags by my teammates. Why do we succeed? Teamwork.

Most BF2 players fail to recognize soloing as teamwork because they're (for the most part) oblivious to what actually goes on in the air and inside the helicopter. Simplistic observations like "two is better than one" don't apply in this environment...

I still think two is better than one given that:

The soloer's flying/gunning abilities are equal to those of the pilot's/gunner's in the other chopper.

The two man team is communicating with VOIP.


The soloer cannot perform two tasks at once as well as one specialized member of a crew can perform one. Yes, it is still possible for the soloer to succeed, but the two man team will have a huge advantage. The soloer cannot perform TV shots while dodging AA, jets, or other missiles. The soloer cannot take a shot and then go hide behind an object. In certain situations it is impossible for a soloer to make a shot, because if they did, they would end up crashing.

Another case

Pilot (has no idea what he is doing) does not point gunner to spotted targets and a crew of 2 dies

-2 tickets for your team

whereas soloer who knows what he is doing takes down
* enemy chopper
* 2 tanks or apcs
* a random car or infantry soldier

At least -5 tickets for enemy team in more or less same amount of time

Oh well in that case of course a soloer is going to better, Im saying that if you have three clones, all of which can fly/gun with equal ability, and split the clones into two groups, one soloing and two in a two man crew, the two man crew has the advantage.

if u think soloing is against rules ur either afraid ull get owned or ur just going by what others say to keep your server runing, people solo in all vehicles in BF2, even jets, I dont see whats wrong with chopper soloing, kick me for soloing and ill come back in with a gunner thats even better then me and ull get owned twice as hard, whats the point of this rule?
