Im not a chopper pilot per se. I can fly, and I used to fly with a gunner. But as a jet pilot, I have come to realize that crashing into a chopper can be as tricky as getting that TV missile hit. Meaning- you dont necessarily have to hit the body, and if you do, the crash may not register. Vast majority of the crashes Ive gone through happen because the chopper pilot chooses the "Pitch up" move, either turning back into the jet coming from behind, or turning upwards, againt into the jet. The least popular maneuver is pitch down, with a spiral, or the move Sloi described in one of his videos as "how to lose altitude in a Cobra very fast". Ive had the most success in evading ramming with that maneuver.

Wait. Sloi is against jet ramming also? Could it possible that TBF2's main helicopter advocate dislikes ramming even more than I do!? Good golly gee, maybe it's because this, 'wiggle trick' of yours is nothing more than a chance effect from a lucky evasion manuever. Were it possible to do it constantly, wouldn't it be part of Helicopter Tactics 101?
There is no "wiggle trick". You missed my main point, as always. Im telling you that with the anomalies in hit detection (jet ramming into the chopper, both hop around and leave with zero damage, jet touching the tail of the chopper and getting blown up et cetera), there is possible a foolproof evasion technique that nullifies the damage coming from a rammer. And noone has ever touched that subject because its not really that big of a deal.

We may get 3 seconds to evade missles thanks to the lock-on warning, but there is no 'you gonna get rammed' siren to let us know when to 'wiggle' our way out of it.
Actually, there is. I can understand that a solo pilot doesnt have the luxury in form of time to scroll through views, but if you fly with a gunner- you get PLENTY of time to use mouselook, fly by, rear chase views. I know Ive adapted the 3-5 second intervals between view switches from jet piloting.

It's okay to ram us with underpowered vehicles such as the J-10 though. It's a viable tactic to down those pesky overpowered helicopters. We're vastly more dangerous than any master pilot in a J-10.
Would you like me to point out where a chopper crew can do more, or do you really agree with me on the matter and are just trying to be an as5?

As if Helicopters don't have enough to worry about from Transport Cars, APC's, Tanks, Attack Helicopters, Stingers/IGLA's, Mobile AA's, Jet Guns/Missles and Artillery. Now we have to sit back and accept Jet ramming as a valid tactic on us too.
Please quote me personally where I said "jet ramming" is a valuable tactic? Jet ramming is utter waste of resources. But I accept it as A) An accident and B) Wrong decision from the pilot part and C) Inexperience of the jet pilot.

And you can nullify all of those threats leaving only jets and chopper, because a chopper can maintain constant presence in any distance from the threat as possible, with an effective range of 450 metres, which is greater than the lock distance of 375, and in some cases even the view distance.

Any chopper worth its salt is basically immune from ground threats. The only worry, then, is another helicopter or jet... and when it's gotten to the point where 90+% of the former are no longer a problem, your only concern becomes the enemy jet: if it's talented, your only salvation is concealment or a friendly jet... if it's average or poor, carry on as if it wasn't present.

I can kill them normally, its just more fun this way.

I dont deliberately ram the same guy, it just so happens that the same two people get the chopper every time. I take immense pleasure in owning these people and others like them.

I get the points, I get their goat, and I neutralize their air force.

Jihading is fun, but kamikaze is x10 better.
Nothing more satisfying than ramming some poor bastard in a heli with your C4d j-10 and saying KAMIKAZE on say.
            Funny as f*ck.

            Cheap tactics FTW!

This thread is so funny, your calling ppl names for ramming saying its retarded, erm so is calling someone names on a forum and trying to argue.

At the end of the day its a game, if my team wins who cares how its done...that's the point of the game....TO WIN....

ShadowMafia, i havent set out to prove anyone's point mate.

I simply said that it IS in the game, and in doing so proceeded to respond to the OP's question of why is it shunned.

I've rammed. Deliberately, unintentionally, enemies, teammates.

Lost track how many times i've pulled up and flown past the chopper or jet or whatever, only to hit the very same thing half a second later. in thin air.

The points are a bonus, its the trill of knowing that I will not miss, Im going to kill that chopper and the two souls within, everytime.

ok ppl rammin requires lots of skill if u hit the target, bail and survive......otherwise its just a simple kamikazee

i think ramming is teh funs...i like hopping in the black hawk and ramming the enemy attack heli after ive bailed out...then i can wait for it to spawn

whats the point? A jet is lethal, even in inexperienced hands a J-10 can dominate the sky. I understand jihading in a vod because it makes a very in-effective weapon, highly effective, especially in destroying dangerous targets such as tanks and APCS.

However, by restricting your team the proper use of one jet, you are doing nothing but hindering your team, which could mean the difference between victory and defeat in a tight contest.
