Re: why is ramming so shunned in this game?

The single situation I ram - not ramming really - is when a hostile tank captures the last flag we got, the team isn't really in a situation to destroy it and it's fragging everybody's a$s, I aim the jet to the tank, and bail out...
    TANK is no more.
I help recapture the flag... voila back to jetwhoring :p

Thats a very selfish way to play the game. You do realize that by you having fun, it makes other peoples time less enjoyable right? Ramming someone that is doing a good job in a game just to you can have a good laugh....real mature. Im not disagreeing with you that the point of the game is to have fun, but justifying ramming by that is rediculous.

No, actually you look like the moron right now. All you can say is that your right, everyone is wrong, and you don't want to bother explaining why. If you aren't going to post WHY you think you are right, then you are just wasting forum space with absolutely pointless posts. Am I wrong? Prove it. Explain to me why your posts are not pointless, moronic, and overall a waste of forum space. Let me guess....:"Lawl, its t00 ez, U are Teh dumbz and I am s0 sm4rt!"

i wasnt justifying rammin using this argument because i am aware it takes away from the fun of others......also why i dont ram...

the post was in response to someone saying the point of the game is to win........i disagreed and said the point is to have fun....it was off topic, having nothing to do with ramming

People get angry because its an insta death they can do nothing about. If I'm playing spec ops and a tank is raping our base in Dragon Valley, I will C4 a jeep and go at it as fast as I can.

Thats not the reason that people hate it. I dont even think its one of the top reasons. Running in an open field with a sniper looking down at you from the hilltops is also an insta death that you can do nothing about, but people won't get angry at that like they do with ramming. There are tons of instances where you can get an instant death that you can do nothing about: Claymore that is hidden well, tank spots you and you have nowhere to run in time, a long range battle with a sniper when your an engineer, ect. Im not going to retype everthing Ive said about ramming in this thread, but I suggest you read it to have an idea of why people dont like it.

Re: why is ramming so shunned in this game?

It's quite ironic; Those who complained about the Blackhawk's Minigun got there wish - It was nerfed - Hold on they weren't done yet. They then went on to proceed that it's now too weak to properly defend itself; That complaint went through the proper channels at EA and it got beefed up with armor stronger than that of a tank.

So now what is the only option to successfully downing the Blackhawk? Send in a few rockets then kamikaze your J-10 and pick up the six kills.

And now they have the audacity to complain that ramming* is a prevalent tactic

              * I'm not condoning the use of this tactic. I was only stating how one part came about in Battlefield 2.

If you have to ram a black hawk with your jet to destroy it then you're a noob, I'm sorry...but theres a better way.

Secondly I'm a big fan of ramming even though I don't play on servers with jets. I play Mashtuur alot and my latest trick is lining the front of my chopper with C4 and then ramming it into a tank or a flag that's surrounded by troops.

The picture below is an armor whore that was already crying about me ramming him repeatedly. As you can see, he's gone... as is the bridge.

Hmm, what right have YOU to demand that I prove something to you?
Get a grown-up (school teacher, parent etc) to read my posts to you, starting with the first one when I explained when I ram (if ever).
It (like lots about this game) is subjective. Some players do it just to p*ss others off, which although in my opinion is wrong, there isn't any reason to get annoyed about it because us "normal" players aren't going to change it.
All I did was highlight an obvious flaw in one ranting post and you jumped on it for no apparent reason. Get over it sonny, I have.

It's an absolutely valid tactic , and it's in the game mechanics.

Is it used as a "good" tactic all the time. Definitely not. Where and when it's a valid tactic is predicated by the situation.

If in real life if some one flew a jet and rammed an ACE pilot that was doing as much damage to troops as the very best pilots can do in BF2 he'd be awarded the medal of honor posthumously.

If great pilots are the the most valued assets, then taking them out is the best strategy. Throwing up your arms and saying "we're screwed" because we don't have pilot as good as the enemy's, is not very competitive. Finding a way to get the job done, is what BF2 is about.

Each point of view of the victim has his rationale. But that doesn't make it not legitimate tactic. If everyone tried to defend their deaths as unfair, unrealistic, or not "skilled" there'd be so many rules it would be ridiculous.

There's no way in real life a combat troop would drive a buggy into the middle of a heavily guarded area to run over one victim get out and start shooting only be be eventually killed by the superior force. It doesn't take a lot of skill (far less then flying a jet and ramming with it) to drive that hummer of buggy that way, but yet it happens a 1000s time a night on servers all over the world. It infuriates the hell out of me. I don't call for it's banishment, and I'm the ground essentially helpless against all vehicles. At least pilots can evade, fight and maneuver.

You can't tailor make rules to eliminate the vulnerabilities of some weapons when things seem dishonorable or "unskilled". Certainly not the most powerful ones, that makes the least amount of sense. To have pilots whine about ramming is laughable. If you want jock the powerful weapons platform to get your rocks off, your going to have to take the good with the bad. Everyone is going to gunning for you and some are not going to use the most honorable ways to get the job done.

Should Mobile AA be used against infantry? It slaughters them and it's a pain if your not AT or it's at a distance, or is killing you as you spawn. The list would be endless of what is and what is not to a player's liking, or to his standard of play.

Bottom line, you get rammed, it's tough ****, respawn and wait on the airstrip for another jet or chopper with your thumb up your ***, like you've been doing the whole game.

What about vehicles ramming each other? I hit a transport with my transport and got 3 kills. I died too, but it sure felt good to get the kills.
