    A Couple of points.
    1. The snipers to have Binoculars that can determine the distance of their opponent.
Hence to change the distance of the scope to match the opponents distance.
there you have it - a kill.

    2. The supports can have a target designator and mortar to demolish their opponents.

    2. Either the support / assault or special forces can have a target designator and mortar to demolish their opponents.

I hope the DICE read this thread.

    Good work.
binoculars all around imo. mortar, no way, games been out too long for that kind of addition. target designator, bah, we should have had this day one, and they should have been smacktard proof aswell, day one. how to make it smacktard proof? the target doesnt show up if theres friendlys close by, either that or different colors.

These are not exploits. Macros, prone spamming, things not intended by the game design, those are exploits.

true, but what ever they are, gameplay problems, exc. we just want them fixed and you will never hear from us again :) although, i dont think the fix to aa is simple in hte slightest.

Stop repeating the same thing and read my rebuttles to it.

I understand that you don't like people choosing grenades as a first choice. I understand that you feel grenades are more efficient.

What I'm trying to say is they are not more efficient if you know how to avoid them. The reason people choose grenades first is because the opposing players usually stink :]

So you want BF2 to be a battle of whos best with dealing with explosives? May I ask you, why the hell do they have firearms in the game?
Can you quote me on saying that? When did I say that?

What I said was that if you truly want to mimic modern warfare you need to take into account that explosives are in great abundance (which BF2 has done). If you can't drop a target before the grenade is halfway in mid-air, you have one of two problems:

          1) You can't aim.
          2) You weren't paying attention to the game. With UAVs, scans and voice comms on each flag cap, there's no reason why someone should get the drop on you.

C4 throwing, G-Launcher use and DICEs attempts to stop those kind of engagements are proof that DICE still believes in firearms being the first hand choices of weaponry.
          *sigh*

You're proving my point with the sentence above and you don't even know it. Yes, DICE nerfed those weapons because they created an unfair advantage.

Grenades, however, do not create an unfair advantage if you play with them in consideration (in other words, watch your own ***).

Thats all fine and dandy for you, especially after youve been telling about being in the front lines of engagement and assaulting flags. So much for good distance. In my experience, its the distance that is giving grenades an advantage. Grenades are useless at close range, they are excellent as anti infantry at medium range and they are again useless at long range. Thing is, a "grenadier" can close a distance without much of a punishment because it takes up to 5 bursts or more to take a hopping bastard down. If itll take you 5+ bursts to kill someone at range, and he can cap you with a trows while being mobile, tell me that is right.
5 bursts? Work on your freakin aim!

See, what you said is proof you don't think through what I say and just look for something to argue with. Look, obviously I can't stay at a distance for a long time... I have to move in and take flags -- and yes it's a dangerous maneuver. Yes, I'll get naded in the flag zone enough times but I will cap 3x more flags than get naded at them.

It's all about understand trajectory, having good anticipation and knowing how to use cover. If there's a guy at a DISTANCE throwing grenades at you and you STILL can't get away OR shoot him... I really don't know what to say.

I have never said the problem is grenades. But I have said that the problem is in grenades being useful in many situations. Make it so that they are effective in certain scenarios, not in most of scenarios.
So, ultimately, the problem is grenades :p

Of course grenades are useful silly, they're grenades. I like that episode Day of Days (ep. 2) in Band of Brothers where they're fighting in the trenches and Buck Compton throws a nade at a fleeing german and blows the guy head off mid-run.

Grenades are useful as a newbie cleaner. Nading a seasoned vet is a very rare situation.

Actually I prefer to compare BF2 to airsoft because I believe they are extremely alike. Were playing scrims, and often play with "respawns" where people just jog back to the "safe zone", from where the "dead" are released at 3-5 minute intervals. They can rest, have a smoke, and be back in the game in notime. The more I play airsoft, the more I see parallels with Battlefield 2. They are not the same, but there are things, up to psychological level of combat, that are extremely alike.
I really don't know what to say here except ... think on what you wrote a little more.

They often make a tactical mistake and I believe they should pay for it, fulltime.
          You darn right!

My main issue is what Ive been talking about. Grenader being able to combat a rifleman in open area battle while sustaining mobility, while the rifleman has to deal with BF2 firearm shooting restrictions. Either make grenading a serious tactical disadvantage or make rifles more accurate and deadly across the board.
Well I disagree because I've experienced otherwise. I move carefully in-game and never ever have a problem disposing of people chucking grenades at me (sure, they get me sometimes, but only when I do something stupid like lay in the same place trying to kill the guy before moving away from the nade trajectory).

The only reason some people switch to them first is the perception of being more effective. On the contrary, if they didn't spend all that time switching to nades, jumping and throwing -- they could have found some cover or gotten enough rounds off to kill you anyway. Nades just seem easier because newbies fall for it too often.

Trying nade spamming in a TWL match against experienced players ... it won't happen ... ever.

Nothing, at the first sign of a nade they usually run like rabbits because those firecrackers make hell of a noise and I sometimes use dried beans as shrapnel and those are way bigger . Plus, they never whine. In real life, as in BF2, more often than not its the targets mistake to put himself into a position where they can be targeted with a grenade. If they FORCE the attacker to use a grenade (in an obvious way) , then they have made an even bigger mistake.
So you get my point right? I think based on what you've wrote we can both agree that people dying trying to take Hotel or running stupidly in the middle of the street don't die because nades are not balanced... but because the victims themselves are tactically inept.

Thing is, SWAT4 has working firearms and grenades. I dare you to show me an officer running into pepple with a can of pepper (in real life). Its not how it should be. Pepper spray in SWAT4 should be effective, but it has almost no tactical disadvantages because it has a very long range.
I can't say much for SWAT4 because I only played it a few times. Though if I got into it, I'm sure I'd say the same thing I said about BF2 to you ... that there's an easy way to avoid all of that stuff and it's the players who are the problem.

I havent said the games dont have akward gamestyles. But I do know that restricting gameplay is a LOT easier than you make it out to be. Just read these forums with a little more attention and youll understand. The most important is to come out with an idea that has all pros and cons covered, THEN go for making that idea work. So far DICE has done things in a simple matter and fashion. Ive messed around with files and such, concering avio-aspect of BF2 and I KNOW now for sure, that DICE doesnt put in a fraction of attention into gameplay changes. They change things, they want to "repair" the game. But they dont do their research.
Um... no. Since I'm sure you haven't dabbled in programming I suggest you do some of that research on the frustrations of squashing bugs in very complex software packages like BF2. Yes, you weren't talking about bugs but it's important to remember that many gameplay changes are just like fixing bugs... you fix one thing and something else breaks. Sure, this could be remedied by good 'code' (or in this case, good balance), but under the circumstances you need to realize that BF2 is a very open ended game.

Game development is not easy, whether you think so or not.

I guess. Im use common sense and DICEs own history of attempts of gameplay changes. Hardly grenads are any different than C4 chucking and the last one got cut. Allowing to throw grenades while jumping is all fine aslong as it wont compete with rifles, and heres the main issue for me- they DO compete with rifles.
          They don't.

Somehow I really dont think this is true. Every time someone deals in absolutes someone else comes along and tells otherwise. Not saying youre not good, but youre basically saying youve never died by a nade.
Ah, no. You've been misreading me all thread. I said that if someone comes at me in the way you're describing they will die every time. Sure, there are exceptions like make taking a drag from a cig or the phone ringing.. but you can't hold me to that. If I'm paying attention to the screen there's no way someone will pull that off.

I've been killed by grenades-a-plenty tho... just not in that way.

Dude. If throwing grenades has no tactical backfires, then thats a problem. Training is one thing, but lets discuss the general use of grenades in BF2, and not "If you cant handle that, suck it up b*tch because you suck" methods of gameplay improvement.
What's there to discuss? Pull the pin and throw. If other guy just sits there he's dead. If other guy runs to cover directly in the path of the nade he's dead. Simple really.

I run near cover at almost all times.
          Great. So what's the problem?

          Exactly my point.

2 targets using "logically speaking" a weapon that at current moment is tactically a WRONG decision, chase you away, even though you have a clear shot at them and they are both armed with weapons with which they cant take you down.

They chase you away with grenades.
lol, come dude... you're telling me that... jeez... it's so hard to get through to you.

Even in real life, if there are 2 guys chucking grenades at you then you would run. I can't believe I'm actually arguing something so simple.

They don't need grenades to chase you away, it's not like you'll run away and never come back. You're not running away at all... take cover from the nades and start shooting. It's not that hard.

Play and learn. I prefer the motto "Figure out and counter." myself.

This is probably up there with STA situation pre 1.12. Some people dont see that much of a problem. Some people say there is a problem.

All I need to do is watch Volx play, and I have to shake my head.
Volx feeds on newbies, good for him. He's teaching those guys how to play. Now if everyone was scoring the way he's scoring -- then we'd talk. Till then just applaud him for kicking *** and practice more :)

Remove resupply period and take away medic packs. Solves all your spam issues and puts medics back in line. You want intelligent play then this is the way to go. Allow apc and tanks to be taken out with less AT, no resupply and no medic packs. There, you spam issue solved.

Avoiding as in placing yourself and your opponent so that it would benefit you? Or avoiding as in not going near them throwers?

Thing is, long range doesnt favour a rifleman. Long range simply makes the grenadier turn into a rifleman, if you know what I mean. Or they start jumping around to close the distance.

I accept grenades as tools to break stalemates and catch people who are behind cover. I dont accept grenades as a first weapon of choice in an engagement. Just like C4 is a tool for creating an ambush and a tool to take down enemy assets. Just like a grenade launcher is a tool to transport a grenade to longer distances than a human can throw (!). Thing is, a grenadier throws a grenade far enough and with a high enough firerate to combat a rifleman. You say "You cant aim", I say "Thank god for high pings and bunnyhoppers".

              *sigh*

You're proving my point with the sentence above and you don't even know it. Yes, DICE nerfed those weapons because they created an unfair advantage.
What do you think Im trying to say?

Im saying a guy throwing grenades 20 metres and above faster than a grenade launcher isnt really using a tool to break stalemates or engage multiple targets.

In most games grenades have a distinctive disadvantages compared to firearms. BF2 does not create any tactical disadvantage to grenade throwing, and since guns have this "random cone of fire" thingy, engaging a target that needs 3-5 hits to drop is harder than jumping and throwing off nades from 20+ metres.

Some of the most popular disadvantages to grenade uses in various games-

*-Limited distance (overcome in BF2 with jumping)
*-Limited numbers (People actually choose when to throw in other games, in BF2 you basically have an unlimited number of those)
*Long priming time (switch to grenade, pull the pin, wait for the "distance charge" and throw, takes plenty of time when youre voulnerable. In BF2 its *4* + *left mouse* + *space*, with no time restrictions, for example, SWAT4 has a pretty good system with 2 second weapon swap time, very long pin pull and throw time aswell.)
*-Good firearms that punish people harder for making tactical mistakes. I think Im not the only one telling that BF2 is pretty forgiving in infantry aspect. One of the reasons why BF2 is suggested over CS for people new to FPS.

Grenades, however, do not create an unfair advantage if you play with them in consideration (in other words, watch your own ***).
Indeed. The exact same could be said as a comment to J10 vs F35B situation... Doesnt make it right though.

5 bursts? Work on your freakin aim!
Mid to long range. Jumping and moving target. Sorry, I dont want to hack, I want to go to gamers heaven :p

It's all about understand trajectory, having good anticipation and knowing how to use cover. If there's a guy at a DISTANCE throwing grenades at you and you STILL can't get away OR shoot him... I really don't know what to say.
Heres the thing. You have to EITHER shoot him or run away. If you wont kill him before he throws off that first grenade, youre dead. So basically, youre at a disadvantage. If you run, its YOU who must reposition yourself and youre on defensive. If you shoot, and cant hit before he throws off first grenade, its back to the respawn screen.

Thing is, this wouldnt be a problem, if weapons were more accurate. If youre running and jumping at someone unarmed, you deserve to die a quick death. In BF2 constant bunnyhopping takes care of that. And being able to throw with a jump only encourages it.

I can come up with all sorts of tactical tips and whatnot, and I can take care of grenadiers. Not because I have a good aim, which I dont. But thank god I think before going somewhere. This however doesnt change the fact that the reward and simplicity of grenade use in BF2 is not exactly right.

So, ultimately, the problem is grenades :p
No, its the possibilities that the game creates, that favours grenade spam. I dont want any alterifications to grenades themselves. I would just want to see people use grenades when they need to, not want to.

Of course grenades are useful silly, they're grenades. I like that episode Day of Days (ep. 2) in Band of Brothers where they're fighting in the trenches and Buck Compton throws a nade at a fleeing german and blows the guy head off mid-run.
I missed a word - "too". Sorry. What I meant was-

              I
have never said the problem is grenades. But I have said that the problem is in grenades being useful in too many situations. Make it so that they are effective in certain scenarios, not in most of scenarios.
As for BOB - Episode 5 I think, could be wrong, where they ambushed a large group of Germans. I didnt see not ONE of them throw grenades at them. Ambush was made using firearms, accurate firearms that did not leave the Germans a chance to retaliate. If a guy comes at you in BF2 and he has a grenade which he has not yet thrown, and you have a gun, he should not be able to send a grenade at you, jump away and retreat.

Grenades are useful as a newbie cleaner. Nading a seasoned vet is a very rare situation.
Funny, I do and see it all the time :P

I really don't know what to say here except ... think on what you wrote a little more.
Meh, ridicule me all you want. I havent said real life = BF2. Im constantly trying to show that there are more similarities than people would (want to) see.

Trying nade spamming in a TWL match against experienced players ... it won't happen ... ever.
Nadespamming in TWL matches isnt a rarity - Ive seen dozens of skirmish videos and nadespamming has a place there. True, people do not engage a rifleman with a grenade in head-to-head conflict.

So you get my point right? I think based on what you've wrote we can both agree that people dying trying to take Hotel or running stupidly in the middle of the street don't die because nades are not balanced... but because the victims themselves are tactically inept.
Agreed, but saying that this is the only reason why, would be wrong.

There is. Hardcore camping. Goining head to head against pepper sprayer means at least a 90% loss rate for the rifleman. Hardcore fact.

Heres the thing. You think that Im a rookie and I cant play the game and I need help figuring out methods to counter certain aspects of the game. No. Im a seasoned player, just with a bad aim. Experienced, but with a bad aim. This is a forum, and this is a topic were discussing. So, even though I can manage, doesnt mean I agree. And thats why Im talking.

Um... no. Since I'm sure you haven't dabbled in programming I suggest you do some of that research on the frustrations of squashing bugs in very complex software packages like BF2. Game development is not easy, indeed. But slight asjustments in timing of various activities is pis5easy. And thats what Im talking about.

              They don't.
              They do X 1000 :p

Even in real life, if there are 2 guys chucking grenades at you then you would run. I can't believe I'm actually arguing something so simple.
In real life people would never try to cross distance without coverfire, to throw a grenade at you. It happens in BF2, all the time.

They don't need grenades to chase you away, it's not like you'll run away and never come back. You're not running away at all... take cover from the nades and start shooting. It's not that hard.
No, but they are pressing you to retreat. Thats half of the victory.

I can understand why you don't like 'em.

You've never played FuShe, Songhua, Oman, Clean Sweep, and a host of other maps, so your stats don't mean squat, because you never ever face armour on foot. Basically, you're a one-dimensional player, only playing certain maps, and more than likely only playing certain sides on certain maps. So really, all you're trying to do is protect a set of stats that really only prove that you can only play one type of game, and a fair amount of that requires being the only person owning the armour, or waiting at a spawn point and picking off people as they spawn. And let's face it... you do it in the armour as well.

You know what I also find amusing? I've played the game four times as long as you (almost), but we have the same number of teamkills. I guess we know how you get access to the armour all the time eh? Oh, and that's without the corresponding increase in vehicle damage, so there's no real doubt about the interpretation. You're quite a guy.

So... matey... I'll send out the challenge to your oh-so-leet standards. Play against me then... on Oman. We'll see how we do.

Thanks for confirming it. And thanks also for confirming you know only a very very small part of the game, and haven't even managed to recognize the VALUE of the grenades and such, because you never play on any maps other than a very very select few. Come back and make suggestions when you've actually taken the time to learn how to play the game... instead of just looking for your little corner to exploit.

You couldn't be further from the truth. Comparing my total flag capture and flag capture assists with your Combat-Quokka account you're at roughly 16 flag captures/capture assists per hour and I'm at 10. Considering I spend a good chunk of my time in armor whereas you spend the vast majority of your time as infantry I'd say my captures per time spent as infantry are right in line with yours. Because as any good armor driver such as myself will tell you, attempting to capture flags using a tank is typically a bad idea.

Funny you should mention the whole flag aspect though because nobody is more easily grenaded than the poor infantry sitting stationary on a flag. Not that I'd consider that an exploit but when you can toss grenades over and over on to said flag till infinity then it becomes a problem. If you've got one grenade and you use that single grenade to stop a flag capture and kill three people than that is a grenade well spent.

Actually I have more time on FuShe and Oman than I do on Sharqi/Karkand/Mashtuur and Jalalabad on another account. I've just settled with these maps on my current profile because I enjoy them the most - simple no? And what crack are you smoking thinking that I don't face armor on foot? Hello... Karkand, 4 APCs and 2 tanks. That's plenty of armor and I spend plenty of my time on Karkand on foot. I stay away from the Chinese maps now simply because I can only enjoy them while I'm in an aircraft and I personally do not like flying the overpowered J-10 every single round and racking up 160 points a game. So that only leaves me with infantry combat on those maps and as anyone will tell you the infantry combat on maps like FuShe is subpar when compared to the infantry combat on a map like Sharqi.

My USMC and MEC time are nearly identical as the server I play on does 2 rounds per map and autoswitches everyone after each round. I pilot aircraft, I use armor and I play a medic - that's three dimensions that I've achieved a high level of proficiency in and pretty much covers the entire BF2 experience minus the commander seat. You aren't very smart Quokka

And let's face it... you do it in the armour as well.
My statistics are a product of how I play normally and I do nothing to "protect" them. Grasping for straws are we?

My last round of Oman I got 130 something points... as a medic. And I'd gladly play Oman if my favorite server would add it to the rotation because it is one of my favorite maps.

Thank you for reconfirming it. You are an idiot Quokka but then again we already knew that. My offer still stands. Join up on my server and I will dominate you like you've never been dominated before. As infantry, in armor or in a plane... it doesn't really make a difference. The only thing you'll learn playing with me is I do in fact have absolutely no issue avoiding or outscoring the lame grenade and claymore spammers and thus it isn't my motivation for creating such a thread.

Oh... and when you get beyond tk'ing for whatever vehicle you think you deserve too.

That's right Quokka pretend you didn't hear my challenge. C'mon Quokka if you're such an infantry wiz you should have no problem downing a big n00b like me. In fact I'm such a n00b all you'd have to do is throw a single grenade in my direction to kill me, right? So why are you so intimidated?

The TKing accusation is laughable and right along the same line as all of your other post - all opinion, all speculation with no actual factual information or substance of any kind to back it up.

I heard it... and you're so good, you come to an Australian server, and show all of us plebs how horrific the BF2 experience is with the scourge that is 'nade spam. See how ya do eh champ?

Oh... and wiz? No... I am but a humble ground-pounder. One that, frankly, doesn't die to grenades in such massive numbers as you do. So how about you show us all how 'unbalanced' the game is, and see how many times you kill me with a grenade eh? I mean... they're UNBALANCED remember? Isn't that what this whole thread is about?

See if you can prove this whole thread is true, and that 'nade spam is of such epidemic proportions that one can barely move from it. See how many times ya get me with one eh? Because if you CAN'T do it, it proves, even when one is so mighty a BF2 player as you, the 'balance' of grenades, isn't really an issue at all. And therefore the whole premise of this thread is nothing more than you talking out of your ***.

Can't back it up? Didn't think so.

Massive numbers by comparison. When someone attempts to kill me with a rifle they'll be getting hit with return fire and more likely than not will not survive the attempt. Grenades and claymores in mass are about the only way a player of your caliber has a shot at *randomly* killing a player of my caliber. Either that or maybe catching me point blank during a reload with a DAO-10.

It's clear you still don't understand the problem and chances are you never will. If I throw litter out of my car window on to the road it's nothing. But if everyone on the road adopts the same poor attitude and everyone starts throwing massive amounts of garbage on to the street suddenly you're driving through a giant landfill.

Grenades are the trash in this case. It's not such a problem on a large map with a low amount of players but on a large map with a large number of players it does become a problem. And last I checked Battlefield 2 should be balanced all around regardless of map size, map choice or other various factors.

Either it's unbalanced and you will be able to own with those evil tools (given your uber-leet skills), or there is NO issue. And you're welcome to join me on any Australian server, ANY time, whenever you feel the need. I'll welcome ya. We'll see how ya go with your 'unbalanced' grenades, and your 'uber-leet' skills.

So only one thing further to say...

                            Prove it.

Cuz the fact is, you CAN'T prove it.

The grenades are really not a problem. But they do encourage statpadding, lame tactics and unskilled behaviour as it is now. Let's face it, how guns don't shoot down infantry fast. You'll always see those dude using grenades as primary weapon as much as they like to prone at your feet or jump around like bunnies.

I try to kill a soldier but he throws a grenade at me. I have to cancel the shooting and start running away. Have no time to finish him off first cos it also takes too long.

The nades are really too present and everybody uses them alot, fast resupply and very effective radius. So yes there is a nade spam going on. Does that make me running into them all the time? No, but they do ruin the freedom, skill and pace of the game.
