There really is very little logic to explain there... but ok
All you gun-fanatic action-loving rambos out there would have to join the military to get your hands on a firearm if you really wanted to :)
Just a little thought I had

In one particular true life film this lead directly to the deaths of hundreds of people they paid there insuirance and were covered for there illness but the company were arseholes and wouldnt not payout (that company still exsist to this day they just folded after losing there court case and reopened under a different name).
Not sure I would believe everything I saw in "true life films"... that sounds a little propsgand'ish to me...
America has elements of Socialism and Capitalism too. I think that there are somethings that the Govenment should do for its people. Such as have an active Military. However, the bigger the Goverment, the bigger the cost of Government and the less of your hard earned money you get to keep.

P.S. Much Props to Adam Smith. However, if you were to read his book, "Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" I think you would find that GB has taken a pretty big turn away from where he would have to today.

That argument dosn't holds water if a corrupt goverment came to power in the USA with the backing of the millitary there wouldnt be a dam thing the US public could do with there small arms v the US military. Think about it the US army is the most powerfull army the world has ever seen the US public with its small arms v the US military would be like a fly attacking an elephant.

If the US military wanted to they could kill every living thing in iraq without even having to use a single nuke and it would proberly only take them a couple of days. BTW how many americans have rpg's ?

I agree, however it is very difficult to put down a group of people that blend in to society just like everyone else. You don't need a tank or rpg to make trouble for a repressive regime. For example, what was one of the first things that Hitler did when he came into power? He registered, then took away all the citizens guns. Why would he do that if they made no difference?

Re: Which gun would you love to have IRL?

I can understand the 'fun' part of firing at ranges and hunting, it's not my thing but i do understand, i also understand that people feel safe with a gun in the house/car etc. But the very presence of those weapons escalates situations, if guns really were the situation defusers that one of the posts above described there would be hardly any gun-related deaths in the US surely?

As for using guns to overthrow a government you dont like, its a good excuse, but thats all it is. Im sure there is quite a large portion of America (those that dont own guns) that wouldn't really appreciate a right wing militia overthrowing the lawfully elected government and installing itself in power because it didnt agree with the way things were done :)

As for the whole socialism vs capitalism thing, there really is no point discussing it, people's views wont change. Some people believe that inequality is one of life's evils, and others believe it's natural. There really is no way of bridging the gap between the left and right wing, despite New Labours attempts. The basic fact is, the UK is much further to the left at the minute than the US, we pay about 22.5% tax to pay for police, education, health, welfare, pensions, unemployment and disability benefits and all the rest. And as someone who had a motorbike accident that would have cost the best part of £300,000 in healthcare to fix me up if i had to pay for it, im glad that we have free healthcare of a generally good quality.

I agree, atleast with small arms you stand a chance. As much as I hate to say it, you can look at the Iraqi insurgents as an example of what the founding fathers would want every American to do if it ever came down to that. You can rest assured that Americans WILL find a way to acquire military toys just like the Iraqis have.

I understand what your saying about making trouble but making trouble and making a difference are two different things you simply wouldnt be able to get rid of a corrupt US goverment if it had the militarys backing. Your armys is just way to big and way to powerfull you would need a coalition of the rest of world to come in and help you and even then it would be extremely hard just because of the advanced technology the US possess. Lets put it this way the US could stop all weapon research for a couple of years at least and it would still be ahead of the rest of the world.

Btw ive no problems with americans having guns like in my other post i stated the you guys have bears and crap wondering around your back garden in some states id want a gun if i lived there aswell.

You bring up an interesting point. It's a double edged sword to have citizens that have the right to bear arms. Fortunately (or unfortunately for some) the government keeps tabs on all the crazies so that situation may never happen. It would be more likely however for a Hitler-esque person or opressive political party to come into power. Sorry to say it but the Bush administration does not fit this description. Hopefully Americans will never have to revolt against anyone but the possibility is there to overthrow such a regime should it ever come to light. Only question is what kind of regime would arise if the citizens win? Will things be even worse?

Its fVcking hilarious, how a simple thread, made by someone wondering what "in game" weapon they would like in real life, turns into an anti-yank war, people slinging undermined insults for no reason.

Who cares that you pee pee's the UK cant have guns.....i personaly dont give 2 sh!ts about your opinion towards firearms, was that the question of the thread?

So with nothing to credit towards the thread, except for political blather, and ranting of statisitics, you should probably go have some tea, and shut the **** up....unless you want to let us know which "in game" BF2 weapon you would like in real life.....

Re: Which gun would you love to have IRL?

I think we've got to imagine what kind of government would cause the kind of ill feeling that would create a revolution? I think its fairly clear that gun owning and right wing political views goes hand-in-hand in the US, so its entirely possible that if something of this sort were to happen it wouldn't be because of a new Hitlet, but because of a left-wing interventionist party which the right wing gun owners do not agree with. America has never really had a left wing government, all the communist scares seem to have scared them off! Even Roosevelt's Democrat Government was right wing, his New Deal was intended to save capitalism. So how would the right wing gun toting citizens react to a left wing interventionist government elected by the moderate majority which imposes high taxes, nationalises industries and greatly expands welfare/health provisions?

I think the people that believe guns are there to prevent a 'dictatorship' are more worried about a government which doesnt share their views, and believe that gun power will beat flower power any day :)

Your a sad sad man if youve not noticed some people are instantly replying to each others post . When that happens on a forum it turns more into a conversation and thats the way conversations generally go.
