I plan on buying a M95 when I get the cash. It is a very accurate gun and a hoot to shoot from what I hear. BTW, the M95 IS a sporting gun. It was originally designed for long range target competitors and adopted by the military later.

Its a shame you think that the right to own a gun represents freedom, where as I think the right to free healthcare (to fix bullet holes) is a closer representation of freedom.

I don't want to start a US v UK arguement here, but haway mate, a gun isn't freedom, you need a gun cos everyones got one, thats like saying its our god given right to own a PC, cos everyones got one and you'll miss out on something if you don't have one.

In the UK we *can* own a gun. It is however extremely difficult to obtain a licence. As we live in a far more civilised, tolerant and open society than you realise, the vast majority of people do not need to own a gun because statistically we're unlikely to ever need one.

You don't need a personal weapon. One time I caught an armed burglar trying to break into my kitchen window during the early hours. I ran at him screaming obscenities whilst totally nude, he broke some Olympic running records. :box: :salute:
Although i get a good giggle out of some of your comments, you come off as an arrogant biased d!ck(t!t in your terms). Is it possible the sea that divides us makes you that way?

In the United States our constitution gives us the right to bear arms.

Simply because one desires a firearm doesnt mean he wants to kill all his school mates, what an @ssholish statement to make, and one at those who were killed expense.

Guns here are used for sport, target shooting and bla bla bla.

There isnt a damn thing wrong with firearms, its the certain people who get them is the issue....

So sit there on your high pedestal, far above all of us Yankees...but i dare you Sir..yes dare you to cross that sea start a war with us.....

You miss the point. I own guns because they are really fun to shoot. If you have never shot one fly over to the US and try it. You'll love it. The fact that if a armed intruder breaks into my house I can fill him full of lead is secondary. I won't go into Socialism (the right to healthcare paid for by someone else) vs. Capitalism (the right to earn enough money to pay for your own healthcare) as this is clearly not the point of the post.

If you wanted a gun could you legally buy one? Is that freedom?

Well, i could get into the disenfranchisement of the black population of Florida in the 2000 US election, but i think that might send people to sleep.

Either way, has the gun made any significant difference? Surely the fact that these fraudulent activities happen means that the fact a lot of the population has guns hasn't changed anything? Or is it that the Republican voters have the guns so they have the power?

I wouldn't expect you to understand. In America we don't like the idea of a monarchy controlling us and owning weapons like guns helps to ensure that no monarchy or dictatorship will take hold in this country.

Whether or not an aristocracy exists in America is certainly debateable.

Well woohoo for your statistics and civility, spoken from a country where punk, and anarchy originated?

Your society is so civilised and tolerant, yet you have such a closed minded opinion towards U.S. citizens bearing arms?

Erm, the monarchy is nothing but a money-maker, they hold no real power. The longer they are here, the more Americans come and spend money in our country. The American President has a lot more power than our Prime Minister, especially seeing as the 'checks and balances' of the US system can be manipulated in favour of certain political perspectives.

I bet a jackhammer would be a lot of fun, especially if i used it to shoot skeet or trap. Probably not too effective, but im sure it would be fun none the less.

I'd love to have one, but other than the fact that they are almost 2 grand, they are HUGE. It would be pretty difficult to carry that concealed, not to mention uncomfortable. Its a pain to conceal a glock 22 with a fully loaded clip, and thats only about 35oz. A .50 DE with an empty clip is 71 oz, add in the fact that im on a bike, there is no way i could comfortable carry that. But, they are sexy looking weapons.

The truth is that we in the US and other places are fortunate to have these rights and it is our job to exercise them or we will lose them. Texas has very loose gun control standards (18 for a rifle 21 for a handgun) but ironically it has a much lower murder rate than New York. There will always be killers out there and i bet if that burgular had been armed, he would have promptly shot you without thinking twice about it. he was probably expecting the house to be empty
I agree. I lived in NY for 24 years . It is difficult to get a firearm (not so bad for longguns). For handgun, atleast 8 months waiting while they do background checks, contact your references, get references about them, and different judges go over your info. Very few people own handguns. I live in texas now, and I fully agree, if you break into someones house, good chance they have a gun by the bed, and a wouldbe theif knows this, so they just walk by.

Not unless its a flashy nickle plated bling bling revolver! And i disagree. I never once killed anyone (dont hunt either), and I use a gun all the time. Its fun. Guns are guy toys. Plus, ever since i first shot skeet, i realized how hard it is, and how much fun it can be.

Not arrogant, however once again, facetious. Just trying to prove a point, ie no matter how you dress it up, guns are for killing and the more freely available guns are, the more likely they will be used for killing.
If you check this thread for my post, you'll find I'm well acquainted with several firearms. When I was younger, they were fun to use, but I never forgot or denied what they are designed to do - kill.
Please observe, it's the gun owning Americans who regularly extoll the virtues of their freedoms and constitution, as if they're the only country in the world with a democracy. That, my friend, is true arrogance and ignorance of the world around them.

I understand that your monarchy currently is for the tourism and the heritage. But the fact remains that if someone came to power and had the backing of the UK military behind them, they could do whatever they wanted to you and you wouldn't have so much as a folding knife to overthrow your corrupt government.

If our civil liberties keep degrading here in the U.S., hopefully we will be able to get our country back on track either by voting, or if the voting process (IE Democracy at its' very core) has been compromised, more extreme measures. That's how our country was designed to work.

Yes, our President certainly has too much power as of late.
