Youre also totally forgetting that every single person in the military, behind every tank, plane, and bomb, has the ability to think. If it really came down to a revolution then how many fighting men would willingly kill another US citizen? The U.S. Military cannot be used within our borders effectively to fight our own citizens. Think about it, Robert E. Lee was offered the command of the U.S. Army before the Civil War. People have opinions even if they seem to be a tool of the government.

Also many State guards and militias are not controlled by the Federal Government. i.e. the Texas National Guard answeres to the governor of Texas and nobody else.

Even with all that aside, I would rather go down fighting than be captured and tortured by a corrupt ruler. A right to die when living could have worse consequences.

How many people in the US willingly kill another US citizen with their constitutional right to hold arms?

You're confusing a drug crazed crackhead with a member of the U.S. military who likely have freinds or family members living in large urban areas.

I'm sorry walker but you are just spouting nonsense. You know as much about our society and country as we know about yours. Criminals acquire weapons no matter what the government does to restrict them. Criminals aren't allowed to bear arms in the United States. Crimes commited with legal or illegal guns are also severely punished. Just because a few idiots decide to run around killing each other with guns in our country doesn't mean your country is anymore civilized. People that want to kill will always be able to do it even if they have to resort to using their bare hands.

I think we can stop using the stereotype of a drug-crazed crackhead, im sure they only account for a few of the 30,000ish deaths every year. What about the people that rationally kill another person because of a grudge? Or because they've been cheated on? Or because they've been disrespected?

I understand that scare-mongering is a large part of the justification of carrying arms, but i doubt there would be any fuss if 30,000 crackheads were getting shot a year. The fact that there is fuss means that there are a large proportion of those deaths which cannot be explained by drugs.

That wasn't my point, my point was that why shouldn't soldiers be able to shoot other citizens when thousands of other citizens decide to shoot each other every year?

I think you'll find that people find it easier to kill people when theres a hand-gun nearby, otherwise how do you explain the incredibly high murder rate in the US?

I haven't pledged an oath or signed a contract saying that i would do anything my queen asked me to do like soldiers have. I also havent spent several years being de-sensitised to violence and learnt to follow every order.

But no, i wouldn't, though i think escalating from shooting someone to killing 14 million people at the drop of a hat (or bomb), is a bit dramatic dont you think?

I also don't think our queen knows how to email :P

Initially, I thought you were just trying to **** people off, but you make a good point here.

It would take a massive brainwashing campaign to get our troops to support any sort of oppressive government. You also forget that there are elements of our military that are not entirely controlled by the government. We have many militias as well as any able bodied person that can assist our military and the country at large in the event of a full scale invasion. Doesn't matter if the invaders are crazed terrorists or an oppressive government. Our country was founded on revolution and everyone is raised to know about our history. There's no way our own military would betray our founding fathers if it ever came down to it.

I wish it was 30,000 crackheads getting shot... instead it is 30,000 innocent people being shot by crackheads during robbery's, drug deals gone bad etc... Criminals get guns by any means necessary. I don't know the history of GB that well (if at all) but I do know that the IRA had guns when it was illegal. Here in the US (Cali) two guys had a shoot out with the cops with 2 illegal full auto AK-47's. This even though full autos have been registered and controled since the 1930's.

Guns don't kill people - the proper application of sight alignment, sight picture and trigger control kills people. :)

You also forget that your militia's can be more extreme than your military. Did you forget the 101st Airborne having to be brought in because the Alabama National Guard wouldn't let African-American students go to school?

Don't presume that just because they are seperate they wouldn't both want the same thing.

Theres nothing dramatic besides the fact that whenever any military operates in an environment with civilians, there will be collateral damage. U.S. soldiers are trained to kill enemies of the U.S. not its citizens. EVEN IF we had insensitive robot soldiers who could kill anyone, the government would still have to answer to the international community the same way the Soviets did.
