Also it did not need reinstalling upon winblows reinstall, and I like the small, clean gui as well. But I can't use it to make room for clanmembers and since the EA/DICE team continually killing the reserved ports (no way to make them behave like they should...) - it is the only one way ATM to manually make room when need for clanmember.

Now - does the qtracker need to be reinstalled after windoze reinstall?
Does the qtracker have the kick/ban working for BF2?
And does the console working for BF2?

That is all I want to know...
Qtracker is just like ASE a server scanner, not an admin program like BF2CC.

It does have some console admin functions (as did ASE) but since I had no experience with using them ASE nor do I use them in QTracker, I can't answer the question

QTracker kills my laptop instantly on startup with a BSOD. This is a computer which, btw, never crashes, despite being using with lots of custom software etc.

After tracking down the error message, it appears that the issue is with the Intel 2200BG wireless, which is pretty common. If anyone else runs into this, don't give up: there is an updated driver available via Intel that should fix the issue.

just a fyi: I updated my qtracker pack with:
          • updated filters to include all versions of bf2 from cd install to 1.3 patch.
          • changed all filters to default 'off' (on install) except for ranked servers.
          • updated SF mapshot pack with new warlord image. (also md and dp images 2 days ago)

Here is a nice list with additional filters.

It's good to see so many loyal advocates for qtracker. It's a nice server browser. Most of the complaints about it in this thread can easily be remedied with a simple change to the settings.

On the other hand, it's still lacking some features that I have come to demand as a long-time Kali user(and now, advocate). Kali's filter tool is a lot easier to use and it's server column customization does not exist in qtracker and some other stuff most of you don't care about. "why am I here, then", you ask. Well 1.3 has messed Kali up and I'm looking for information to pass on to the author of Kali to rectify the situation. I've found some information and it looks promising.

so how do you make it not kill your internet connection while refreshing.

Even Euro Force is catered for very well. I found more than 90 servers last night. As a matter of fact, I find more servers which ASE failed to see the same way the in-game browser does.

View->Settings->Network->Connection change your setings to the following:
"Internet Connection Speed" = 28.8k modem
"Amount of time to wait for a response" = 1024ms
"Number of retry attempts after timing out" = 0

                    and unchecking ICMP ping.

                            Talus -
It does have some console admin functions (as did ASE) but since I had no experience with using them ASE nor do I use them in QTracker, I can't answer the question
So I hope someone will Guys?
I mean - WHAT admin functions it incorporate and do they work on BF2?
Like I mentioned earlier, I use ASE just for checking the status of servers, I end it then and connect from BF2. I just would love to be able use some admin functions (kick is enough, ban will be nice and best will be have able to see the console and read what is going on server) w/o installing the NetCrap for BF2CC :hmm:

PS. and the reinstalling after windows reinstall question...???

It's pretty convenient. But once I click "Play" it says " bf2 " is not a recognised protocol. How does it ole up with BF2? Where have I done wrongly? Thanks!

Lifetime ASE license-holder here. This really ****es me off. I guess I got my moneys worth with 4 years of use but I really really liked ASE's ease of use. Qtracker as a replacement is nice an all and a million times better than the ingame browser but it just aint ASE

Tho props to the guy coding Qtracker an letting it stay free. Gotta admire that.
