your right guys, why i'm suppressing a new dynamic in the game I don't know. Only I'm rememering the total imbalance in a pub game when one squad uses it effectivly & the other side is uncohesive team :/

edit: not wake I love wake :)

Ok im honestly starting to come to the oppinion EA/DICE are deliberatly messing up bf2 so people with leave it and go of and buy a new game (hopefully bf2124). There constantly screwing around with the actual game play instead of actually fixing the PROBLEMS with the game. Were getting stuff all the time changed that no one wants changed or added to the game but the BUGZ are still there theyve been there since day one why cant they leave the game alone and just fix the sodding BUGZ.

NOTE:- The only reason i wont buy bf2124 when it comes out is because of the bugz i like the concept i like the look of everything to do with the game. However i know for a fact AT missles will never work properly on this game engine, The balance will never be right for the AA they just cant get it right, The redtag bug will always be there so will every other crappy bug in the game thats been there since day one.

No, nobody wants SL spawning completely removed, and it's an unfair assumption to say everyone who's for SL rotation/squadhopping being removed wants so just to win more often. It's about having more fun while planning and playing a war.

The flow won't be stopped just because of SL rotation/squadhopping being removed. Having to restart an attack from a flag if your team failed isn't stopping the flow for everyone. Some think that's proper gameplay.

But when squadhopping will be fixed as described in the leaked patch notes, you can't let 5 people wait in the "dead pool", and let them spawn wherever they want shortly afterwards without any delay. With that fix implemented, you'll at least have to choose a specific squadleader before going into the dead pool, and going there can only be planned by suiciding (in one or another way). If that specific squadleader would get killed, they'd have to restart from a flag with him instead of choosing the next best squadleader to spawn at.

          Some don't and it's a step backward towards BF1942.

The impression this poster gives is what bugs me most about the community and what is being done to the game.

One group doesn't like the way the game is being played and they are vocal about it on the forums regardless of whether it's the popular opinion or not.

A second group is happy with the way it is and doesn't say anything until there's an overwhelming cry for changes. By this time EA has already started to implement them assuming this is what the entire community wants. By the time this second group starts to voice thier opinion it's too late.

A third group doesn't care one way or the other and doesn't say anything.

The last group doesn't post in the forums and their opinion is never known.

Why EA always caves to the vocal group without ever putting out a petition to see what the majority really wants is beyond me. Especially considering the biggest complaint by nearly everyone is the bugs that have been there since the beginning.

Plus, why this group believe they should be able to have anything they want changed in BF to suit their game is pathetic.

Why do EA listen to them, they (Forum nerds) are NOT the majority.

Sorry but i'm just fed up of the changes happening to this game. I, and a whole lot of others were happy with the gameplay after the 2nd patch. EA just had to sort out the bugs and maybe add some new content. But stupid things were changed.

Petition keep squad hopping in Battlefield 2

              Done.
The changes in the next patch are about to make the game l=more like Day of Defeat than anything else. WHy not leave all that crap tpo the mod teams?
It's hard to tell who EA is gettings it's wacky ideas from these days. It cannot be the community this time. I understand that EA is trying to keep us interested in BF2, but the answer is simple...Throw the community a bone, give us a couple of new maps.
Keep your Armored Fury and your EuroForces....we want something new without having to pay for a disappointment.

EA will NEVER understand that and doesn't care about how bad their content is. All they care about is the money they get because noobs buy their crap, only because it is made by EA.

EA has basically given up on trying to make the game better with patches. They don't care about anything we say (despite how obvious it might be). It is apparent they don't read these forums.

Why the hell can't people understand that just because EA is releasing updates to a game that has a few bugs doesn't mean there letting up in solving them? They're a huge ****ing company, I think DICE has enough programmers to work on some updates and bugs at the same time.

                    You are right.

                    Since release they have
                    - taken out the ability to jump and shoot
                    - decreased damage radius of noob tube
                    - changed the accuracy of countless weapons, sometimes more than once
                    - constantly tried to make the Anti-air more accurate
                    - nerfed the blackhawk guns
the list goes on and on.

I'm not saying any of those changes were bad but....

red tag bug has been around since release.

I really wonder where their priorities lie.

It is my belief that EA knew about the "overisight" but didn't feel it would be an issue. UNTIL they noticed how it was being used. So they pushed for a fix now.
That's why the change came as such as a surprise to the community.

Now that the community is used to it there's an uproar about it's change.
It's quite possible that there will be enough of a stance to leave it as-is that they may not change things, however I think something will change.

I'm just a firm believer that it's not a legitimate tactic for this Game. It's a lame attempt to get around the actual gameplay.
I can atleast see your side and unbderstand why you don't like it and hope that you understand my view that it helps, not hurts teamwork. The nice thing about how the game is setup now we both can choose to either use the option or not. I don't like the idea of the choice being taken away without a legit reason. If EA/Dice didn't mean for this to be used they should have made a point to state that a long time ago; not a year into online gameplay. I still don't agree that it's trying to get around actual gameplay becuase people are opting to spawn into a battle to help the team not run away from one. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I have to give you credit atleast you have been mature in your posts which is more than I can say for alot of posts I saw in this thread today.

Isnt it only supposed to change the fact that you cant do it while dead? If so then just respawn, select squad, then suicide.

If this is what the patch does then go ahead and take it out.

Unless you are worried about the "no more flags" deal then I would say let the round end anyway.

You forget the dynamic nature of Battlefield. In a push attempt, half the squad dies and the other survives. If people are forced to respawn somewhere else because their squad leader died then the squad is split.
What's the purpose of a split squad? Right now, the squad leader leaves the squad and comes back in. He (and others) can now respawn with the squad leader which is much more in line with what a squad was made for.

If they were to make any changes at all it would be to automate the process.
I.e. the squad leader dies, the closes squad member to where the SL died becomes squad leader automatically. Now that's keeping the fun while taking away the "work" aspect of quiting and joining the squad.

That would defeat the purpose of spawn points if the game automatically did anything to help you spawn anywhere else. Plus the squad should communicate and wait for the squad leader to spawn first so they would know where to spawn. Being part of a squad also takes patience, work, and a brain. I still say get rid of it.

You state that the fix will make the game more fun. For you maybe I enjoy the game the way it is now and why make such a universal change a year in. The way the system is now you can CHOOSE to squad hop or not to. Why should an aspect of the game just be taken away and not be a server option. If you don't like it you are allowed to have you opinion but don't discount the opinions of those that don't see it as an issue that is being abused and needs immediate patching. If EA/Dice released a patch only address the red/blue bug I would be happy. Also I would much rather they concentrate on additional content rather than upsetting any portion of the community. I don't believe that this is as big an issue or being "abused" as much as some people would make it out to be. I would much rather have a choice the same way people have a choice to join a squad or lone wolf it. I personally don't like people that don't join a squad but it's there CHOICE to play that way and if they find it fun more power to them. I not about to start a thread asking EA/Dice to make it mandatory for people to join squads, it's the players choice as should be to squad hop or not to.

^^^^Despite my position in this debate, Sadistic probably makes the most Valid Point concerning EA's ability to deal with this game and it's issues.
EA definitely has no clue how to obtain the 'correct' or even 'popular' information about the bugs and/or 'features' in their games.
What's even worse is their 'internal' testing group. THEY SUCK.
EA/DICE would be better off having some kind of semi-public testing group so they can see what are really bugs and what the community wants.

The problem as I see it is this.
The choice (as you put it) is not a balanced one. Let's really be honest here...the skill required to accomplish a goal without hopping (Ingame ground Squad coordination and teamwork) is much higher that the skill it takes to do with squad-hopping (Coordination over TS using the spawn system to keep the Squad(s) alive).
So a group of players who even minutely has their act together squad-hopping can more easily overcome a tight, experienced, well oiled, highly skilled Squad on non-hoppers. At least that's the way it's being by the pro-hoppers (Especially Terroser).
A choice of Gameplay or Playstyle in a game like this should not have such a high degree of imbalance and I think that's what EA is looking at.
