agree the 8800gt is a good card,but design wise it would look alot better with out a lame sticker,a bit of a artistic overhaul and it would be ok.

And tacky flames are nice? :laugh:

The flames on it are nice.....and tbh i would prefer the alpha dog sticker to the Sapphire sticker on my 3870..really poor quality.

Still better than a ATI card with tacky flames :p i am bias towards XFX because they have always gave me great deals on fast reliable cards

seems the 3870xt work rather nice in a crossfire set up.

ok the 8800gt owns it in a single card config,but when you decide to get 2 cards you cant deny the 3870xt scale's much better than the 8800gt does.

personally getting 2 8800gt's doesn't seem worth it(price/performance wise)

where as the ati version seems much more beneficial when going the extra mile to purchase 2.

lets hope we see similar performance from the 3870x2

That's all well and good, but for the majority of people, Crossfire isn't really an option because by the time they can afford a card, they'll want the next model up.

But, if you have the money from the start, i suppose it's an idea.

I second Alex here.

If you got the money to begin with then getting a dual card system might be a valid point. But for up-graders it's mostly not an option. Besides getting a dual setup means that you have to have a good PSU, a good and roomy case with fans/cooling planned out, mobo that supports dual setups and driver support. There's a higher chance that your satisfaction factor is marred by driver with dual setups than with one card setups.

And of course dual setups has to be worth while money wise. All the hidden costs in PSU, more expensive mobo and extra fans will make the deal even worse in that aspect. And the worst of it is that the performance boost is not guaranteed (some games are better off without SLI or Crossfire) whereas up faster single card will always yield faster performance in every situation.

A dual 3870 is far cheaper than the 8800GT in SLi. Hell, a 3850 in Crossfire might even be cheaper than the 8800Ultra alone and perform (at minimum) as good as the 8800Ultra?

I can guarantee, without any shadow of a doubt, that 2x3850's will not perform as good as an 8800gtx, let alone an Ultra.
