They did it for Crysis so that the FPS would be higher. Not a bad idea if you ask me...

disabling eye candy for a specific game (crysis) at the driver level and not telling anyone, for the purpose of elevating fps of the current benchmark king is underhanded.

but yeah, it is pretty smart. perhaps for their next oober product launch, they'll limit the AA to 2x at the driver level, even if the application/drivers report 16x.

now that would be a hella' fast card...

...right up until they "fixed" it with a driver update, two months after you bought it because of the reviews you read.

don't get me wrong, 8800gt is kingcard for the price, if you don't mind a little bait and switch action.

hmm i was getting artifacts on the 7.12 cats with my 1950pro, now i get them on my 3870's in WiC sigh..

/waits for the next release..

thanks Scinto,when you get around to benchmarking crysis can you do it at 1024x768 res in crossfire with no AA or AF running game at veryhigh

other res and settings will also interest me,but the 1st one is bugging me as i can find a good benchmark with those settings.

p.s dont forget the crysis patch :)

got some strange results :laugh: but ill put it down to the drivers,, not got vista installed yet, everything is high, trying to play on my resolution 1680*1050 i get 1.0= 29, 1.1= 25

its a strange patch lol, makes nVidia cards better from what ive read on other forums from their benchs, but makes mine worse.. there be a conspiracy.

You only get 56 fps with crossfire?

I get 50-60 fps at 1680x1050 with my one 8800GT. All high settings.

these 7.12 cats are still buggy they perform worse than the 7.11s on 3dmark, so we shall wait for a better set.

hmm theres hope yet, will have to do Crysis benchies on Vista 7,12 cats before trying these 8.1 beta's
