    Zalman CNPS9700 LED (Red One) = 70%

So, what we can sum up, is that they are both, "okay..."
Right, for what i paid for it, it does the job perfect. All it needs to do is cool my 3.0ghz 5600 :p

I have had experience with both of these cards building other computers (3870 and 8800GT), i saw no real world performance difference. I ran crysis on both machines and the 3870 seemed to give a little more eye candy than the GT had to offer (almost as if some textures were "dull" ), also comes with a better cooler and overclocks better. Those are the main reasons i decided to stick with the 3870, besides the fact i may go crossfire which does outperform SLI GT's :). However both are outstanding cards for the money.

nVidia disabled/handicapped eyecandy (notably reflections) for crysis at the driver level in order to inflate their fps while the card is in the reviewers hands.

after all the glowing reviews are in for the new 8800gt/s, they will restore the visual details in the next driver release.

if you've got enough horsepower to crank up the settings on crysis, you can rename it to crisis.exe, (or, more appropriately, icaughtucheatingboosturds.exe), and *POOF* you get better visuals, minus the fps.

quite clever bit of fraud err, marketing?

^ applies to 169.xx if i recall correctly.

i dont remember the driver version as well. But disappointing, looks like Ati's claims were right.

i've been looking at benchies some more and it seems 3870 usually performs better in dx10.

nah, gt's are still faster, even after you rename the .exe of the benchmark du jour.

price/power consumption/acoustics/re-using coolers i currently have were all factors in deciding to go 3870 v. 8800. getting a 22" monitor soon-ish, so needed a little more horespower to push pixels comfortably.

i'll leave the debate over which card has the purtiest mouth to burt reynolds and the gang.

That's because it's good enough to run at low temperatures with high performance and not need a massive cooler on the side.

Yup, doesn't need one. It it's efficient and cool enough not to need it.

It saves space, gives you access to more ports and overclocks very well

Why does everyone get the same 8800GT as me? All the pictures people have posted have been the xfx alpha dog edition.

Because, it was the cheapest version on Scan. It was on sale at the time, cheaper than some of the cards still on pre-order.

Ok people have different tastes. You cant just blurt out this is prettier than yours. Some people prefer what they chose. Because of different tastes. I agree if people argue over performance and what not but taste/beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

still think the ati looks better,
                                my 2900xt

                                nice simple design

no stupid sticker with alpha dog edition stuck on it lol.

agree the 8800gt is a good card, but design wise it would look alot better with out a lame sticker,a bit of a artistic overhaul and it would be ok.

perhaps im not looking at the right review sites but the 3870 in crossfire looks impressive, some games are almost double performance.

also last time i looked the 2900xt was the top score on futurmark, mega overclock btw
