Today, Valve and HTC announced a minor technology bump to the HTC Vive. This bump comes in the form of SteamVR Tracking 2.0, which allows for users to link up to four Base Stations in a single space. In addition to making the jump from two to four stations, the improved technology allows for game space areas to jump to sizes as large as 10 by 10 meters. Valve announced tonight that they are nixing the requirement to attend a $3,000 training course for their SteamVR Tracking solution.
After working with numerous third parties and updating the tools, Valve is opening more direct access to the technology and course work, available free of charge in English and Chinese.
