Yesterday, Kotaku ran an article saying that Battleborn was going the free-to-play route soon. They cited an anonymous source that said the game was originally slated to be a F2P game but only ended up as a $60 retail release because of 2K.

Last night, Randy Pitchford denied those claims that Battleborn was going F2P. He denied the claims but when he tried to explain further what exactly is happening with the game, he uh... well... it's kind of confusing?

With today's release of Pendles, the second of five free new heroes being added to Battleborn, Gearbox also teased the next hero that will be added. The character's name is Earnest and utilizes a grenade launcher for his primary weapon.

Gearbox and 2K announced some details about upcoming Battleborn content updates. This includes new maps, the release date for a new character, and new Broadcaster Tools.

The new character, Pendles, is the second of the five planned free playable characters and will be made available on July 28 at 9AM (PT) for Season Pass owners. Pendles will then unlock on August 4 at 9AM (PT) for 47,500 credits for non-Season Pass owners.

This weekend, you Battleborn fans will get a chance to earn double credits for playing. In addition, Gearbox developers will be around starting at 2PM (CT) on Saturday, June 25 to play and battle against the community.
