Also comments in the news section were not allowed to put down EA or any of their products anymore.
The news themselves can't be "EA-critical" either.

If they do not comply, they will have to "face the consequences", whatever that means.

And no, im not kidding, this happened just the other day. I have a suspicion something similar is happening to this site. Is the site's new owner, "MY-IS" aware of, maybe even involved, in this?

      I'm hoping not...
With this DICE merge, there will be even more. Please use the report post feature, if you see any.

We'll.... I'll crack down on it.

What's with all the "is this the end of DICE as we know it?"

Of course it isn't. The developers and team that make up DICE wouldn't be going anywhere. They'd just get better financial support and tools to create better games for the future. This hardly changes anything, it just means the DICE name may disappear. Although, I'm thinking they'll still stay as DICE with EA as their publisher, or have some kind of name to identify the team from other EA development teams.

And to everyone saying EA's buying everyone out, read the article, DICE wholly agreed to the merge, they're all for it and it's beneficial to them.

The founders of the companies that have been purchased are well paid by the buyer or they wouldn't sell. SELLING IS A CHOICE!!! Are you so clueless that you don't understand that a company can turn down the sale of it's name and intellectual property? If they wanted to keep going the way they were, they wouldn't sell... It's really that simple... Or haven't you been following the "real life" scene for very long?

And based on the opinions of those 5,000 people, that makes me wrong? How about the millions of small business owners who cater to larger businesses or the hundreds of thousands who have willingly sold their businesses to larger companies? Listen to any FM radio and tell me how many ads you hear for headhunters providing everything from IT to accounting to HR solutions. They all cater to larger companies who want to farm out that portion of their business.

While the majority of you are over here crying like you sprained your uterus, the execs at DICE are popping champagne and drinking up. Read the article...this gives DICE the ability to use technology and tools created by EA and it gives them a larger operating budget. So before one of you post yet another "Big bad company sniffle sniffle killed the little guy wimper wimper no more good games waaaa waaaa for mommy to buy for me sob sob" story. Try understanding that there will always be small companies making innovations and having great ideas who will then be bought by bigger companies who have the capital to try to realize those ambitions. It's easy to say "I want a game that is perfectly balanced with incredible gameplay and netcode." But it's far more difficult to make that game. Without the larger companies and their resources, it would take so long to make these games that, by the time they were ready for release, the technology used in making them would be outdated.

This will only mean bad things for BF2. But its the nature of video games.

PS. Consoles, I hate you for everything.
            I Agree 100% WarMace!!!

The same happens all over the place.

            UBI buys RedStorm = JUNK!!!!!
Trauma Studios & Dice bought by EA will= JUNK

It usually happens in the second generation product after the buy out. Most ppl stay and finish any product they are on or leave enough for some flunky from the big company to half arse finish what was left. This is where a lot of bugs are born.

This is always a total loss for the consumer.
I can't remember one of these things ever working out in favor of the customer or ever producing a better product in the long run.

Guess the EA fanboy's & Girl's are happy now.

If you had been following the development in this story, you would know DICE aren't exactly happy with this. Yet they feel they have no choice.
EA bought a large portion of their stock anyway, so a "hostile takeover" was a very real possibility. Read up on it, maybe start with the official press release, and read between the lines instead of buying all the BS they're telling you.
Things aren't always as simple as you wanna think. This will affect the lives of the DICE employees. It will also affect us gamers, and not in a positive way.

Now it's great that someone always has to defend the big corporations right to do as they please.
I look at it from the consumer's standpoint, as I am one. And this will not be to our benefit.

Just one example: EA bought Westwood, they closed it down and removed a competitor. Some of them now work for EA, but most have since left the business or are struggling to get their independent projects published.
Could you please tell the rest of us how that business move benefitted us gamers?

EA is trying to get in a position where they can dominate the market, some say they are already there. That's their right, and they owe their owners to do whatever they can to make more profit. Fair enough.
But I, as a consumer, also have the right to not buy their products, not just because they make crappy games, but because i don't like their business practices, and don't want to support their goal to dominate the gaming world.
Just as i choose Linux for my gameserver, not just because it does a better job at it, and is free, but also because i want MS to have competition. To keep them on their toes.

If EA was a great publisher, made great games themselves, had a good support and supported the community, i might support them. They don't, so I don't.

Hope that clear's it up for ya.

Please note I hold no particular grude against any company I just want a quaility product and when there is a problem I want it fixed in a timely manner and not get any corprate double talk and if they give a release date I expect the product on time.

I do have a problem with the way EA has handled some of their business dealings. I do not support their purchase of the official NFL license. That was definitely a move to fend off a competitor who was making a better game for less money. However, EA puts out plenty of good games. DICE did approve the first purchase of their intellectual property by EA. They knew what they were getting into. Also, if you don't want your company to be "taken over" then you need to keep it from going public. Going public allows for anyone putrchase stock. Also, large stock purchases often have to be approved by current stockholders. This is business. I too am a consumer but I don't feel that this deal does anything to hurt me. I think that most of the negative attitude toward this purchase is just a generic dislike of big companies with not much understanding of business.

                              Yeah, the NFL license job.
They did that with Papyrus Games too, who had a very succesful and popular "Nascar Racing" series of games. Papyrus refused to let EA buy them. So EA used their influence and money to get the official Nascar license, effectively locking out Papyrus from competing in that market. Papyrus (and their famous NASCAR games series) does not exist anymore.
(read about it here: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6103365/p-8.html )
                              Something similar happened to Sierra.
                              Westwood too.
                              Do you see the pattern?

At the same time, EA is getting more and more aware of their dominance in the market. Hence their new policy of harrassing independent news-sites covering their games.

The only thing what I'm afraid of is

That battllefield 3 be a rip off, with only a update engine!!

Because if they not come with new mods like support lines, then I don't think i canne buy it!! because only a update engine is not enough for me.

also I'm afraid that EA gonna rush battlefield 3 and the same story will be begin over again, like bf1942 with patch 1.61 and know BF2 with patch 1.21
