We arn't suppose to download CS again. If you didn't quit the part where it tells u to convert the HL files to the steam folder then you don't have to download it. However I was impatiene and end tasked the converting part. And skipped it. Now I am downloading it, wait... It's done downloading at 1 hour and a half WOOT. Now I jsut want to go back to the convert window to update the rest thro the converting process.Comment

My platform updating was stuck on 49% , I clicked Cancel and started Steam up again and it went to 100% in like 2 minutes.Comment

I updated this morning when it was released with no problems. Here's a few things I noticed though.
The convert cache thing will look like it's froze up but it's still updating. If u ctrl-alt-del and the app is still running then leave it alone it will finish. I have a 2.4gig and it took about 10mins for that part.
Also the "preparing to play cs" screen doesn't mean it's ready to play. It means it probably d/ling content. I went to sleep and when I woke up it was done and I joined a server just fine.
Key Points: Everything is running extremely slow. If you think it's locked up give it another 10minutes or longer to get unstuck.
Just start the update and go do something else like sleep.
Also just because you can't play 1.6 cs you should still be able to play 1.5 unless u uninstalled it. So don't claim Valve is preventing from playing CS.Comment

I like how when I click the shortcut for steam, it doesn't load. Yet, I look in my system processes, and Steam.exe is listed...but no steam window. And after like, 2 minutes, all of a sudden I have a steam window just pop up out of nowhere. What the fuck is that? GG. Also, I like how I click to play cs, it loads, but no servers show up anymore for me, like they did first thing this morning. GG again.

i was pretty mad during the beta when they did the first big update and i couldnt play cs for 5 or 6 days and i figured they wouldnt worked out the kinks at least in that sence where gamerz wouldnt be forced too go dayz without a game and since i havnt played 1.5 consistently for 8 months or soComment
