I was getting 120 bytes/sec...



Which blows compared to updates when steam was in BETA and I got sometimes upwards of 1 Mb/s.



But I dont care.



People, if any of you were original Beta testers like myself and others, and went through the pains when steam was first released and the issues with Steam and CS, you'd call this release a peice of cake. So far I am.



Steam has only frozen up once for me so far, and appears to be downloading Counter-Strike.



I'm a happy camper. (Not in the CS way mind you :P)

does n e one know if it is going to get better..because i am stuck at the screen "preparing to play counterstrike"...i am so close...to being able to play..is it my computer or the network or something else that i dont know

Wow, this sucks balls. I've only got CS to come up once, and as soon as I click a server to join, CS decides not to respond (I waited a few minutes in case). Unstable to the max!

i downloaded and installed steam but when i try to play cs it gets stuck at the preparing to play cs window. it also never asked me to give a cd-key?

That "Updating-Counterstrtike" screen keeps freezing after it completes 2 bars of the download. It actually just stops downloading and never starts again, i have let it sit for about an hour now and the bar hasn't moved and steam has never downloaded anything. Time to restart sdteam again? This is the second time this has happened...

Everything installed ok for me, the thing is, I keep gettin some weird error message that says: "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." What a load of shit. If anyone has any info on this please reply.

Yeah, when I'd click a server to join that my friend was in, it would hang at verifying resources, then fucking timeout. Gay as hell.

just leave it at that window, it will start downloading eventually. It would of got your key from your registry

We're working on putting together a traditional installer for release today

that should get things working for people. It's going to be a fairly large

download, but once installed should make everything work much better.

this better be on bittorrent fast i think that bittorrent will be the best way to get this thing around in any reasonable amount of time

this shit is bullshit.....first of all, anyone that had steam beta(most of us for almost a year now) should not have had to download another installer...steam should have updated itself.....my second complaint is the fact that many of the bugs in steam that valve "cleaned up" in the beta are back(ie. having to ctrl+alt+del out of the program cause it is too shitty to close itself properly).....third, come on valve, i thought we learned from the release of the beta that you can NOT release a new version of the most popular online game in the world without all of your content servers up!!!!!!!!....not to mention u only have like 10 total(6 working).....don't u fuckers have calculators?....millions of loyal fans play your games, 10 servers is not enough..even if u had 10GB-ethernet.......i'm waiting for the traditional install now, since it's been almost 24 hours since i started my uptate and steam monitor is crawling at 8 kb/s if that.....steam works fine for small updates, as for full releases, go back to the drawing board cause steam licks ass as far as big d/ls go...

i left that window on for over three hours and it still hasn't done anything
