Well, maybe not actually, the complaining's roughly the same as it's always been. That and everyone seems to forget that for every 1 person posting a complaint on a message board there's dozens actually playing and enjoying the game.
no, the complaints aren't the same. the last time i saw something remotely like that was during the 5.2 - 6.0 change. The second part of your sentence is pure assumption. look at the poll, and you will see it's not like that. Not a single one of my CS buddies (where i have to say they are all experienced players) likes the changes even a bit.

Just wondering if any XML doods can provide some code for parsing the news feed.

Or at least point me in the general direction to get some tips/tutorials.

      Thx.

It is hilarious how terrible the CS community supports transitions. Every single release is the same.

"Version B sucks i am going back to version A."

        Version C comes out....

"Version C sucks i am going back to version B."

        Etc etc.

1.3 took about 2 months for the flames to calm down. More people then ever will be enjoying 1.4 in about that time :) Even our good friend GonePostal.

i don't think it's that easy, I've been around since beta4 as well, and i have liked every new release so far. not that i liked every single aspect, but overall i like the path cs has taken.

this release is totally different though. changes are hugh and affect gameplay in a way that changes the whole feel of the game.

i'm completely sure that in 2 months less people will complain. but adjusting to something doesn't mean that you have to like it. i think counter-strike is even in version 1.4 one of the best games out there (although i have played with the though of switching to ra3), but that doesn't mean that it couldn't be a lot better.

if for some mysterious reason all electrical devices would seize functioning tomorrow, I'm sure mankind would adjust and survive. but would you want that?

ok ok now...i think the majority of good cs players can be divided, COULD be divided in fact, into those who relied on bunny jumping to get top scores, and those who relied on stealth and surprising ur enemy to get kills. I was in the second group, so for me taking out the bunny jumping was definitely a good thing, BUT WTF, they have also changed the freaking walk speed as well!! goddamit now u walk in the game slower than a toddler does. can some1 please tell me what reasoning valve had behind changing that?? surely not realism!!

now no1 can bunny jump and no1 can use stealth...valve, u have messed up my dear

erm...wtf firefucker, if all electrical equipment stopped functioning tomorrow WE WON'T BE ABLE TO PLAY CS!!!!!

            i would die

I think the reason Valve slowed down the walking speed was to prevent the silent running bug. Though I think they slowed it down a bit too much. Silent walking is pretty much useless now, since you move so slow. By the time u try to cross to the other side of a room, the enemy would have spotted you.

exactly my point...they try to take out a bug and they fooking mess up the game

this is the only thing that pisses me off out of all the changes in 1.4

Grrr.. ok a little off topic, but I have been banned from a total of 4 servers so far, just because they think I hack, BUT I DON'T! I just have been playing for a while, so I am really good, and I use good headphones also, so I can hear when people are coming. But this is rediculous. I know people are still a little unsure when someone is playing really well, since all of the hacks. But now I can't even get a good game of Counter-Strike in before I am kicked and banned from a server. Anybody else have this problem?

CS was getting stale? Was it? I've been playing since beta 5 and I'm STILL getting better... And I have to be one of the best players (with 1.3 anyways) out there
If you're gonna try and convince people to your side of an argument, at least try not to include blatent lies.

Exactly Mike, part the skill of the game is learning to adapt. Those who abuse it and win by exploitation are generally the one who bitch the most.

Only when the walk speed is fixed or else no. I can live with out the jumping but touching the walking is a definate no no.

I find one of the most interesting things that people like you, Narby, or in general those who defend the changes, always seem to think they have the moral superiority. it has been like that on the steam beta support board as well. people who complain, or better people who offer constructive critizism are looked down upon as fools who don't seem to be able to accept change. well, that's totally not the point. we think there are certain things wrong with this version, we point out arguments, try to have a discussion. but honestly, i have not yet seen anyone actually reacting to any of those arguments.

for example "the slower walking speed is better and adds to the gameplay because..." or "stopping after jumping is much better than a stamina system because...".

i simply fail to see any benefit in the changes, maybe I'm blind, help me. and please, be realistic, not along the lines of "slower walking will bring more tactical depth", because that's not the situation on the servers at all.

btw, it's new for me to hear that being able to jump without being stopped is an exploit, you will have to let all other game developers know about that awful situation.

Preach on brother fucker.... uhh, brother fire?

Lets here some constructive, thoughtfull comments on BOTH sides, cut down on the actual FLAMES...... and lets have a peacable discussion here... I don't think either side will faulter (at least not yet, either everyones gonna get sick of the new changes, or everyone will adjust...... personally, I don't see any benefits to them.... and I don't see anything good coming out of them.)

Oh, and to the response on my post by KalFalNal.... thats almost EXACTLY what I was saying, there IS no dive in CS.... thats what jumping is for (was for)... dive around corners, behind cover .. etc. (read JUMP around corners, behind cover... etc) Since there never was a diving motion in CS (um, speed-dodge.. like in Unreal-Tournament (which is really stupid btw) Valve could have changed the strafe-jumping animation to look like a person was diving sideways (its relatively easy to dive sideways, but rather difficult to jump sideways in RL .. but this isnt about realism) it would have been the same.... But personally, I could care less for graphics.. and more for gameplay.. I just don't see any validity in your point. Hopping up and down? Jesus, does their hopping up and down affect the game at ALL? So, they're jumping... SHOOT THEM... it doesn't do ANYTHING to the game other than "wahh, its not realistic" who CARES.... If you want realism go play rogue spear.... if you want a fast-paced action-packed game, play CS....
