What about the people who are stuck in the middle of this? I mean there are improvements that add to the gameplay and then there are "improvements" that take away from the gameplay. There are things that I like about 1.4 and then there are things I dislike about it. In any case, it is still Counter-Strike and still fun as hell to play. That's just my feelings on the subject.
As for jumping, I think you can actually configure server-side so that the jumping is "back to normal" like in 1.3 and earlier versions. At least that's what I'm hearing from a few server admins.Comment

i just want to know why, why they changed it. There are so many good things in this update, but they went commando and tried something really really new. Maybe they're testing their ability to be able to change the game and get away with it. But i also know that there were alot of complaints about 1.4 in the Steam Beta, so, were they not listening?? personally, i dont remember walking so slowly in the steam beta. Did they just add that at the last second?? Lastly, how the heck did it get this far, they had to have anticipated this kind of reaction. what are they looking/waiting for?Comment

ok, im tired of all of you that keep bitching about how everyone is bitching about 1.4! we have the right, NO the DUTY to trash talk 1.4., it isnt our fault valve screwed up this big.. seems as valve cant keep their customers happy, so we MUST complain, and all you smart apes need to stop complaining about how we are complaining because that would just add up to a whole lot of complaining which may result in further complaining, which, in the end will end up with a swift ban from rizComment

Well personally i liked everything in 1.4 except for the massive slowdown after your first jump. No i am not a 'newbie' or whatever, i just think Valve made some choices which will make things interesting - new tactical solutions for old tactical problems or whatever Randy thingy said in that German interview. The spectating is great, n i think people are moaning because a) they cant do the little things that would put them at an advantage over new players to the game anymore, and shock horror they now have to use their abilities at aiming and tactics to a greater degree. B) people ae moaning simply because 1.4 i different! It happens everytime, people are scared of change, simple as that. And as it happens 1.4 is a pretty big change. Anyway, just wanted to say that, and leave Rizzuh alone, hes just doin his job dammit :). Cya,

wow....this comment is one of the dumbest things i have ever heard. valve changed things, you know why? TO KEEP IT FROM GETTING STALE!!! like it was previously said the changes add a new level to the game. you cant just pop around a corner, jump and aim. you have more planning to do. and if you say that planning sux then go play quake 3 or something deathmatchy. You have to work as a team. CS is about team play not single player play. please people stop complaining about it and go play and get more experianced. I didnt like jumping at first but you ge used to it, you adapt to it like you had to do in Day of Defeat. so stop whining and play the game.
Valve i would like to say thank you. Rizzuh congrats on the MIRC channel. this site rules.
