Cheating? Seen it already.

Was just playing on "Insane Killing Grounds" and this guy named

(2)Player (of course) was playing in an unusual manner.



Seems he had a second computer running and logged in with the Overhead map running.



Once in a while he'd freeze for 20 seconds or so, then head straight to the last guy. If he wasn't there. He'd freeze again, then head for the new spot. Each map change PLAYER stayed logged on as an Observer. Hmmm - likely? I think so.



I though at first he was listening and using headphones (I do that a lot). But his enemy person was too far away, and many times walking or squatting or not moving. No sound there. And it happened a lot - a whole lot.



We couldn't kick the observer, and most of the kids on his team wouldn't believe me, so we couldn't kick him. But anyone who went to First Person View saw the same thing happening.



(sigh) Is there no Honor left in the world? I started thinking - Is this Vasily? (arrrgh) I don't know how you get around this one. Very similar to the problem of having 2 or more people in the same room and watching each others screens.



True this isn't as bad as other cheats, but man, it's only the second day!



Also:

» I'm not lagging at all in this Beta.

» I've had ZERO problems with STEAM or TRACKER.

(although Tracker pings seem to be way off of my in-game pings. Unlike All Seeing Eye, which seems to be close in pings)

» My FPS seems to have gone up? (dunno why or how).

» My Buying Scripts from RZE work just great.

» My custom Logo (US Flag with Statue of Liberty) works well.

» Small issue with lots and lots of reported head shots. I suspect they aren't all head shots though.

» No other obvious cheating to report. I just haven't seen any, except the 2 computer ploy.

» WHY are all of our WON ID's the same in STATUS

» Love the hopping/jumping change. Took some getting used to.

» Footsteps seem to carry farther than before? Anyone else heard this?

» Hostage AI is much improved. Seems hard to get them stuck now, even in Italy, Militia, or Back Alley.

I have an Adelphia cable Connection - and Adelphia usually sucks in CS.



Keep up the good work - clean beta as so far for me. And I've logged about 10 hours in it so far. I've heard some people who might be modem users complain, and some from "Across the Pond" complain on US servers about lagging. I suspect #Hops from STEAM will now matter as does #Hops to server.



A friend of mine was having problems with lagging, locking, etc. I reloaded his operating system, updated his video drivers and Microsoft OS updates, turned off his Virus Checker and other assorted communication programs running in the background. His problems went away.

I would consider "Pay to Play" but not for more than a few dollars a month. I believe in capitalism - it works.

HELP!!! I can't get the steam-****** to work!!!



I downloaded the setup and the ******... I ran the setup, signing up, and end at the place where you enter your e-mail, password, and special offer code...



I try running the ****** but all it does is turn on the dos prompt thing for like half a second and close. I tried runnig the ****** in dos prompt and idn't work either... Just closes the window...



Can anyone help me?!?



I am running Windows 2000 and have a good enough computer to run pretty much anything (so it ain't a hardware problem at least)...

Just wanted to say that while there will no doubt be both lovers and haters of the new jumping restriction...



It is a small price to pay for:



A) Possibly a new anti-cheat system that will be implemented with Steam or 1.4



B) Much improved hostage AI



C) Much more consistent hit box accuracy.



D) Higher FPS and for some, lower ping(s).

I had similar issues at first, it seemed to be one of two things. I did two fixes at once, so not sure which one worked. I also have Win2000, but the version didn't seem to be the cause of the problem.



1) Re-Downloaded from the official Valve site using an FTP program. (WS-FTP from Tucows). I can't recommend using the browser, too many IF's there.

2) Ensured my Internet connection (cable) and computer was clean and running well. IE: Reboot, stop all other net transactions, Virus Checkers Off, Crash Proof Off, etc.



Then worked fine.

the whole two cpmputer things in one room isnt anything new. even if they didnt have the overhead map spectactiong you could still do it if there was free chase cam.

Can anyone tell me the official page where I can get the ******? I've been to www.valvesoftware.com and all they have is pretty much noting... No downloads, nothing... Anyone have a site?

A problem I've encountered (and figured a way around) is that WinXP (and maybe 2k) closes my dos windows too soon. I can't get change any settings, so I found a way around that. I just opened up a command menu (Start => Run. Type "command". -OR- Start => Accessories => Command Promt) and browsed to the directory. Use "CD .." to go up a directory, and don't forget that "cd m<tab>" will bring up "cd "My Documents"" (auto complete feature rivals even linux! woo hoo). Remember to put in your E-MAIL ADDRESS in for your user id. It will generate a key PER E-MAIL address.... So many people get confused here.

Because none of us entered in WON ID's. This is a beta. We are all essentially playing on the same ID. The Steam info is different, but this doesn't correlate to anything of WON's. (RIP WON).

it is nice but the tracker chat does not work to well. I added someone in game and sometimes it works but not all the time. It says "<name> is typing a msg" but then nothing happens. Now when i left the game and talked to the same person (him still in game) it worked all the time. whats up with that?

I just wanna say to those that say that in the official version, YOU DON'T NEED BROADBAND! so those who are complaning....geez, just be patient....it should come out soon. I mean, how much more time do they need before releasing it?



Btw, I still want to know if we need to re-register for the "Instant Message" thing when the official one comes out.

well it was working good until i started to use tracker hardcore then it froze on me. i lag really bad with this version. and is it just more or does the Colt have more recoil then it used to.

I think the Colt has more recoil now... But I could be wrong.



I just got off another test server and got more kills with the Mp5 than the Colt - Silenced or unsilenced. I do know the Mp5 is back to being "the gun" as opposed to when it was toned down since the early days.

You don't need broadband - but it's a bitch to have to wait forever to get on on 56k. I prefer just hooking up to my neighbor's DSL (damn you PacBell for not letting me have DSL till next month!).
