Re: Project Reality New Procedure For Server Code

As i see it, nothing changes from a players perspective, i dont like the short spawns, i like the long ones as then i can way up running out and dying and sitting there for a minute feeling stupid, or playing like a real solder.

I think this is a horrible idea, A server owner should be able to do what ever the **** he wants to do with it. This procedure sounds like the EA ******** that we are forced to listen to. There are servers with ssm and no ssm, one or the other, choose the one you want to. OH no its a 10 second wait to spawn rather than 30 seconds, oh lets force servers to sign up for the server code. You have to be 18 too? What the hell Project reality? Damn!

I think this is a bad move and will limit the already small player base.

              To all the players saying, if you dont like, dont play;

What if more players want it with ssms, than want it pure.. How about a vote?

Ive tried hard to like PR, but personally i cant stand the long spawn times. I dont have hours and hours a day to play. And i dont want to spend half of it looking at a spawn timer.

Having long spawn times has nothing to do with tactics, make people spawn in their back base, if you want time to get ready. Atleast they're ingame and playing...

I can understand there reasons for doing this. It's their mod and it's not being played how they spent hours of there time designing it. So I'm sure it feels like some people are undoing their hard work.

Though I can't say I personally agree with it. Can you imagine what modders would think if EA stopped us from modding BF2 just because they didn't want us to change the way "it was meant to be played". We (and by we I mean most development teams, probably including PR) complain about all the stuff EA hardcoded and can't be changed but at the end of the day, at least we're still allowed to mod it to our liking (or at least attempt to).

I think its possibly a little over the top.
Maybe they've been paying to much attention to ranked BF2 and forgot they are a mod team and how mods evolve.

Maybe if you quoted me directly and understood plain English, you'd know that I don't play PR because I don't like their gameplay. Rhino and crew have some of the best looking BF2 maps, but for me it's ruined by this whole realism stuff....you don't respawn in any real war, 30 seconds or 10.

People play BF2 and all it's mods to fight...not wait in spawn que.

At the end of the day, SSM's or not, alot of folks are playing PR...and that's a good thing for PR. I wouldn't do anything to offend my playerbase. I'd look for ways to extend it.

                      Wise words!

I actually may try playing PR again, now that i hear there are low spawn-time servers. I may even try finding one tonight.

                          Be cool,

It is only a way to avoid problems with heavy SSM servers imo.
I'm sure they will allow ssm but in a certain limit.

Also, SSM is not really modding so they must respect the spirit of the mod.
If people want to modify heavily the gameplay (make it different etc ...) they do a mini-mod and then release it.

I must say I'm disappointed in the people simply quoting me and Jaws and then saying "if you don't like it then don't play it"
Try replying to the original statement in the proper fashion instead of engaging paranoid defensive mode.

I personally don't care for PR but that does not mean that I don't have the utmost respect for what they do, seeing what the other poe developers go through, I know how hard it is in order to get a working product out the door.
PR have a solid mod, the server and player count highlights that for them already. Although I think this is a somewhat extreme measure taken by the developers by PR, it is indeed ultimately THEIR CHOICE and I respect that 100%

This message especially goes out to those that blindly engage fanboy mode and mount a defense to something that was nothing more than an observation and an opinion.

Re: Project Reality New Procedure For Server Code

I personally like arms to arms combat, no more spray and pray tactics, But I hate idea of waiting to spawn for half of minute just to get back to a game. Requesting kits for driving a armored vehicle, what is that. You might as well do a pre-PR-gaming training level for your mod, just like in AA. Any one who past training gets the rite to use any kits they want, including Air vehicles.
When comes signing agreement for rights of using you mod, I totally understand where are you coming from. You would like mature and responsible people running you mod, and it's cool. But doing so you will alienate bunch of other people who wants to run server, but wont because of your new rules. And by that alone I see this mod will die out very soon. And that will be shame. As i said before I like infantry battles, it is realistic, in my opinion the way BF2 should be. And amount of work and time went to make this mod I hate to see it go.
